Sticker wars: Shattering the myth of Hope and Change

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 27, 2009 12:12 PM

Just wanted to share a quick back story about the cover of Culture of Corruption:

If the distinctive artwork seems familiar, it’s because the graphic artist behind the shattered O logo is our friend, Tennyson Hayes. Tennyson and I collaborated on the image, which sums up the book — and the last six months of the Age of Obama — in a stark and arresting way. The Obama campaign understands the power of visual propaganda. The Right needs to get in the game, too. Just look around your neighborhood or highway and the still-stubborn proliferation of HopeAndChange bumper stickers.

To fight back against the delusional tide, Tennyson has made shattered O stickers available here. I’ve got one on the back of my car window and have already earned some dirty looks:

So, get a book. Lend it to your “progressive” friends and family. Send them a sticker. Send me photos of your car with the shattered O logo sticker. I’ll post ‘em.

And stay tuned. We have more goodies in store for you!

***

Tennyson has a magnet version, too! Buy ‘em here.

Great work Michelle and Tennyson. I know what having a sticker on your truck can cause. Saturday hubby and I went to breakfast and when we came out one side was keyed all the way down. The truck has a NRA and Patriot Riders Group on it. I’m sure the stickers “had nothing to do” with the keying!

I was thinking the same thing. The moonbats are vindictive and destructive. I love my van and don’t want it keyed, or the mirrors stolen, etc. I also have concerns about other things besides “dirty looks”…like having my back end rammed, or something worse. There are a lot of angry lefties out there and they do not tolerate anyone who disagrees with them!

Just a quick tip for ya’:

If you don’t want the sticker (or your car) vandalized, try putting it on one of those “sheet” magnets that come on the phonebook, from your dentist, etc…

THEN you have a removable sticker that will adhere to metal surfaces and stay there while you’re driving.

    You’re welcome.

No. He’s your guy. He (or worse) is what will happen if Republicans control Washington again. This is exactly the kind of conversation that should be going on — comparing alternatives we actually have.

In corruption — we can have industries regulated by people working in those industries (the Republican/Bush model) or by people possibly hostile to those industries (the Democratic/Obama model).

On health care, we can have rationing done by for profit insurance companies (the Republican model) or by public (government) officials (the Democratic model).

In both cases, the Democratic models with their drawbacks are better than what Republicans are offering.

That is just plain rubbish and if you don’t know that, you are thinking more “stupidly” than usual! LGM…Let me ask you a couple questions. Do you think it is O.K. to let people over age 65 die because they are no further use to society and are merely a drain on it? Do you think it is O.K. to take the best healthcare system in the world, where people flock from all countries to get this care, and bring it down to the level of socialist countries? Do you think this healthcare bill will help any of the poor who don’t currently have insurance? If so, how will it help them get better care? They already get good care now. This bill will merely destroy good care for the rest of us while not changing a thing for the poor. If this bill goes through, Doctors will change professions in droves. How will that help our healthcare system? Do you think this country can afford another trillion dollars of debt? I want some rational answers out of you. You get ONE CHANCE.

What they conveniently leave out is how well their employees and charities are treated. That money pays more than the fat cats at the top, you can rest assured of that.

tony…sorry if I sound like a coward to you. I am a slight female, over 65 years old, do not own a gun, and doubt I could fight anyone who tried to intimidate me over a bumper sticker. I will gladly add my voice to a group of tea party protesters. But to invite trouble by using a bumper sticker that incites the radical thugs is something I would need to think long and hard about. I have other ways to fight and I don’t need to lose my life over it. Besides, I am probably closer to being turned into soilant green than you are. I will leave the more brave forms of protest to those brave souls who actually could accomplish something and have training. There are plenty of them on these blogs…Arizona, Flyover, MSNDavid (who I haven’t heard from in ages…anyone know where he went???), retfireman, sonofdy, many more. And our great military will not let our Constitution be destroyed. I have an obligation to take care of my family and my grandchildren. And I will fight with political activism and my donations.

“large scale and systematic corruption” has ACORN written all over it but isn’t that from the Alinsky playbook, take your own guilt and try to pin it on the opponent?

lgm, Allow me to give you a short history lesson.

I served in an Infantry Battalion during the Jimmy Carter years. We received brand new M151A2 jeeps in our Battalion. Within 18 months 90% of them had their dirve shafts literally fall off. I witnessed three of them personally. All of our M35A2 2 1/2 Ton trucks had PLASTIC fuel lines that all shattered in the cold of a MN winter.

Our TOW missile systems were taken away in 1973 to back fill Israeli stocks. We were to have them replaced in 1976. The BN finally got their TOW sytems in 1982, thanks to Reagan.

When I left that BN it had 27 night vision devices. When I returned in after the Reagan years we had 333.

Bottom line, my unit during the Carter years was expected to fight the Soviets and win with drive shafts that fell off, fuel lines that shattered, Korean War era recoiless rifles, and hardly any night fighting capability.

When I returned after the Reagan years the equipment was superb and the BN was armed to the teeth and mission ready.

Here’s the bottom line. A Carter equipped and Reagan equipped Army both could have defeated Iraq. The cost with Reagan equipment and training was 176 combat deaths. A Carter victory would have meant 5,000 – 8,000 dead.

Rail all you want about Cheney and Halliburton, but Republicans save American lives. We’ll see how The One does in that Department.

On a completely separate initiative, I did some counting today in the Northern VA metroplex. In my ride to work, my ride back, and several stops in between, I saw only 5 Obama bumper stickers of any sort. It was only weeks ago I couldn’t turn my head in traffic and not see at least 2.

I actually was seeing if something I heard on the radio was confirmable; that Obama supporters typically drove foreign autos.

    My count:
4 on Foriegn cars (1 Honda Accord full size, 1 Honda Ridgeline, 1 Toyota SUV (didn’t see type), 1 Mercedes, and none were hybrids)
1 Domestic (Chevy Cavalier that has seen much better days, also not a hybrid)

There were many, many cars where bumper stickers used to be. Lots of adhesive outlines. Were they Obama? Were they McCain? Were they some other witty enticement? Who knows.

But all I could think was, “What hypocritical pieces on s#!+ to demand that we bailout the auto manufacturers, and that they build eco-friendly cars!”

Then I remembered that it isn’t about them, it’s about their control over me.

    Wrong.

During the Carter years, your unit was expected to surrender – right along with your Commander-in-Chief.

You couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a car with Obama stickers in Arkansas.

If you don’t want the sticker (or your car) vandalized, try putting it on one of those “sheet” magnets that come on the phonebook, from your dentist, etc…
THEN you have a removable sticker that will adhere to metal surfaces and stay there while you’re driving.

I bought magnetized photo holders from Walgreens for my McCain/Palin stickers so I could remove them from my car when I parked in my Highlands neighborhood here in Louisville, KY. We call the Highlands “Little Berkeley” because it is a blue insane asylum floating in a red state. We still have anti-Bush… er, I mean “anti-war” protesters two blocks from my house on nice weather days. Passed them on my way to the two Tea Parties… sigh!

Hey LGM,, and other leftwingers, you need to celebrate Michele Malkin on her new book. You folks are crying she didn’t get a book on Bush/Cheney. That maybe true but you have to remember one thing is that the Leftwing has the whole MainStream Media behind the lefties. Go into a bookstore and see how many anti-Gop, Bush books compared to the conservative ones. You so called open minded leftists can’t stand when there is conservative viewpoints. Let Michelle have success with her book and go and read the many hate bush ones at your disposal. By the way please find any mistakes that Michelle has made in her great new book.

Michelle, did the dirty looks come from Obama supporters, or from those who don’t support him (whose numbers are growing every day). The subtleties of the sticker may be lost on the uninitiated, especially on a moving vehicle.
