Number 1 at Amazon and number 1 at B&N.

Speaking of B&N, why would someone write a review if they hadn’t, and don’t intend to read the book. Oh, that’s right ….

    Example:
Posted July 14, 2009, 5:12 PM EST: I don’t think it takes a genius to realize that this book was not written over the course of the last week. This book was written BEFORE the administrations first 6 months had passed, and then tries to say something about whats happened in the first 6 months. It doesn’t take a genius to understand this opinion was formed not based on fact, because it was written about the first 6 months before they had passed. Propaganda and since I haven’t read it, I’m not rating anything other than “Research” because I don’t have to read it to use common sense and say “no research was done, the opinion about Obama’s first 6 months and first 100 days was formed before either occurred.”

    As another reviewer put it:
Posted July 27, 2009, 10:13 AM EST: This is a most enlightening book on the Obama administration. The book is obviously not meant for the unintelligent person. To read it requires an open mind and the ability to independently verify facts. Given you are open minded and sufficiently intelligent enough to independently verify facts, you will enjoy the book. If you are sound byte oriented, and lack the ability to follow a concept for more then a sentence phase, the book is not for you.

That pretty much tells the libs that Michelle’s book is not for them. LOL

Born 60-some miles north of Mpls, “growed up” (as it were) in Mpls and am currently in the same neck of the metro woods as you.

I was wondering because I was converting some old VHS tapes (before the ol’ VCR gives up the ghost) into DVDs. One of the tapes was a WCCO-TV retro look back that I taped back in the 90s. With bits from some ‘CCO kids shows – Axel, Clancy and other stuff – like Bud Kraeling doing his weather. I was thinking there’s not so many folks who might remember those days!

They have moved south from the city and it seems they have brought the slums with them. That is not a racist remark. It is a fact.

Yup, I agree. Even Mpls was a great place to grow up in back in the day. But, it’s as you say with Richfield, it’s not a great place for kids these days! It’s not really an issue of minorities, but I think more of how people conduct themselves in general nowadays. Thoughtless, with no respect for others. I think most the time my family lived in Mpls it really was a case of where we didn’t need to lock the door at night. (And that was in a working-class, blue collar neighborhood – nothing ritzy at all!)

By the way, I have an autographed picture of Bud Kraeling. Do you think it is worth anything? Ha.

I dunno, Scrapper – but the memory is priceless! I remember when he used to do the weather from the Foshay Tower – he had a big “weather window” so folks on the street could stop to watch & wave at the camera. So many memorable local personailties from that era – Mel Jass, Jim Hutton, Nancy Nelson & others, Dave Moore’s “Bedtime Nooz” was hilarious. Such great memories! :)

My comment was more general than specific. I used the words ‘these interveiws’ (plural) and not ‘this interveiw’ (singular).

Yep, Lauer and every other host does it. He is not alone in this practice. I find it curious when he and everyone like him, in the position as a talk show host, does it.

Whatever Lauer’s motivations, or reasons, were for going on about everything but the book, are his own.

MM is an adult, a politcal commentator and can certainly handle herself. There is nothing wrong with having her address the politics of the day.

However, when you say the reason you have someone there is to discuss a book, discuss the book, first. Maybe invite the guest back in the following segment to discuss additional issues.

And, no. Nothing escaped me. Though it seems ‘plural’ vs ‘singular’ escaped someone.

More like for the “next 3 years, too”, AlohaGuy. Michelle will have to keep the book current re: the Obama gang’s ongoing culture of corruption!

Here’s an open thread. Talk amongst yourselves.

Michelle, please give us a new thread specifically to discuss

    Obama’s Presidential (in)eligibility.

Regardless of Birth Certificate, this is a serious Constitutional issue:

    1) The issue is Presidential eligibility, not merely birth location.

    2) The Constitution explicitly requires that

“No person except a natural born Citizen … shall be eligible to the Office of President”

    3) Nowhere in the original Constitution, its ratified Amendments, or Supreme Court decisions, is the term “natural born citizen” conclusively defined.

In more than one Supreme Court decision, however, doubts have been raised as to whether a person such as Obama (born to a father who was never a U.S. citizen) can be considered a “natural born citizen”. For example, in “Minor v Happersett”, (1875, more than six years after the 14th Amendment was ratified in 1868) the Supreme Court said:

The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their [p168] parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts. It is sufficient for everything we have now to consider that all children born of citizen parents within the jurisdiction are themselves citizens.

    4) Any consideration of the founders’ original intent for Presidential eligibility must take into account the writings of the man who became the first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (John Jay).

On July 25th, 1787, John Jay wrote the following to George Washington, then Presiding Officer of the Constitutional Convention:

“Permit me to hint, whether it would be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expressly that the Commander in Chief of the American Army shall not be given to nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.”

It was this letter that caused Clause 5 of Article II to exist in our Constitution. Since the oldest natural born citizens in 1787 were only 11 years old, a grandfather clause was included for those who were citizens at the time of the Constitution’s adoption. But the clear intent was to disqualify “Foreigners” from becoming President and Commander in Chief of our armed forces.

    5) On a web site run by the Obama campaign (it explicitly stated “PAID FOR BY OBAMA FOR AMERICA” at the bottom of the page), it was openly admitted that Barack Obama had FOREIGN citizenship from birth until his 21st birthday.

“When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children.

Since Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1982.

I think it is pretty clear that John Jay and George Washington, our first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and first President, would “declare expressly” that Barack Hussein Obama (also known as Barry Soetoro, Indonesian citizen) is NOT eligible to hold the office of President.

When Michelle posts on the topic, Pill, that’ll be the place to comment on it. But she has already pondered some time back why it should be a problem to open the longform BC to public inspection.

No doubt. At this rate there will have to be eight installments to keep up with it all.

She said this was an open thread, so my comment is perfectly acceptable in this thread.

But she has already pondered some time back why it should be a problem to open the longform BC to public inspection.

You miss the point – the longform BC is a completely separate issue.

Obama’s own campaign admitted that he had foreign citizenship from birth (as a British subject) through his 21st birthday (as a Kenyan citizen).

Wake up! He didn’t have to be born in Kenya to be a Kenyan citizen. His own campaign admitted that he was, due to the citizenship of his father!

We don’t need a longform BC to show that Obama was exactly the type of person that first Chief Justice John Jay (nominated by first President George Washington) intendend to exclude from eligibility to hold the office of President.

You either aren’t smart enough to understand that, or you are and you are trying to obfuscate the issue.

The only way the longform BC becomes relevant is if it shows a different father (or no father) for Obama. Then the argument could be made that he is eligible to hold the office of President, but then he would also be guilty of forgery, perjury, obstruction of justice, etc., etc., etc.!

A stunning appearance by the The Goddess, coupled with a stunning performance.

If I were Lauer in that take-down masquerading as an “interview,” I’d be torn as to what to say: I’d be either cringing on my chair while whimpering “Don’t hurt me!” or getting down on my knees, ripping my shirt open and pleading, “Do that again!”

    More likely the latter.

I think, in post context, she had in mind more her interview on “Today” for folks to “talk amongst”, Pill. But since Scrapper and I went off on to our own little off-topic confab here, I can’t very well cite you as an “offender”, can I? lol

    But on this:

Michelle, please give us a new thread specifically to discuss

I was trying to find a polite way to say it probably ain’t gonna happen, since I believe Michelle is not all that anxious to “go there” in general. Note a previous MM post:

Supreme Court turns down Obama citizenship appeal

(It doesn’t hurt anything for you to ask though.)
