More on the wackjob science czar the MSM ignores
This week, every conservative commentator or Republican politician who appeared on TV got the Birther litmus test. Journalists didn’t care about the issue. Their agenda was embarrassing the Right.
If they cared about wackjobs espousing conspiracy theories, they’d be grilling every liberal commentator or Republican politician who appeared on TV about the wackjob science czar, John Holdren. There would be a Holdren litmus test:
Are you comfortable with a science czar whose intellectual mentor is a renowned eugenicist?
Do you agree that musing about forced abortions, mass sterilizations, and poisoning the water supply to control the population is in the mainstream?
Do you think the president should employ a man who pays homage to a population control zealot who views the global population as a “pulsating mass of maggots?”
The news staff at CNS did some new reporting the MSM won’t do on Holdren. It’s not just Ecoscience that Holdren co-wrote with the Ehrlichs.
Christopher Neefus writes about Holdren’s views on “de-development” in the 1973 book, “Human Ecology:”
President Obama’s top science adviser, John P. Holdren, advocated the “de-development” of the United States in books he published in the 1970s.
“A massive campaign must be launched to restore a high-quality environment in North America and to de-develop the United States,” Holdren wrote in a 1973 book he co-authored with Paul R. Ehrlch and Anne H. Ehrlich. “De-development means bringing our economic system (especially patterns of consumption) into line with the realities of ecology and the global resource situation.”
In the vision expressed by Holdren and his co-authors, the Ehrlichs, the need for “de-development” of the United States demanded a redistribtuion of wealth.
“The need for de-development presents our economists with a major challenge,” they wrote. “They must design a stable, low-consumption economy in which there is a much more equitable distribution of wealth than in the present one. Redistribution of wealth both within and among nations is absolutely essential, if a decent life is to be provided to every human being.”
Holdren, who is director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, made these comments in the 1973 book “Human Ecology,” which he co-authored with the Ehrlichs, long-time advocates of curtailing population growth.
And Terry Jeffrey reported:
President Obama’s top science adviser said in a book he co-authored in 1973 that a newborn child “will ultimately develop into a human being” if he or she is properly fed and socialized.
“The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being,” John P. Holdren, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, wrote in “Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions.”
…“Human values and institutions have set mankind on a collision course with the laws of nature,” wrote the Ehrlichs and Holdren. “Human beings cling jealously to their prerogative to reproduce as they please—and they please to make each new generation larger than the last—yet endless multiplication on a finite planet is impossible. Most humans aspire to greater material prosperity, but the number of people that can be supported on Earth if everyone is rich is even smaller than if everyone is poor.”
The specific passage expressing the authors’ view that a baby “will ultimately develop into a human being” is on page 235 in chapter 8 of the book, which is titled “Population Limitation.”

Well what do you expect from an administration whose Rule #1 is
‘Because we say so!’
?
If liberals are so against over-population, why don’t they kill themselves?
I.HATE.LIBERALS.
Complete Dribble!
Fortunately for the left, conservatives generally tend to be sane, otherwise they would think that the most reasonable thing to do would be to help liberals achieve their goals of reducing population and consumption – by killing all the liberals.
I will work to develop liberty.
Socialism must be de-developed.
Of course, if the left had the courage of their claimed convictions, they’d commit mass suicide a al Jonestown and save us the trouble – except for disposing of their stinking corpses, of course.
False. Moron.
I posted about this fool here recently.
This is all the proof people need to know. Barrack Hussein Obama and John Holdren are Auschwitz Nazi sympathizers. Kill babies. Kill the elderly. Kill dissenters.
Auschwitz Concentration Camp Organizers Of Reinrassig Nazis (ACCOORN)
De-development. Congressional members are already exhibiting signs of de-evolution.
This is the second time I have seen a post on this guy – we need to have the word out all over. Post to Hot Air, Drudge etc. and out there all over the blog-a-sphere – Michelle – a good start would be next time you are on Fox he should be on as a guest – what a fun debate that would be – he’s frightening and he will surely be the lead “authority” in the “Obama-we celebrate death over life-care if it ever passes!
Among other things, Bill Buckley was noted for claiming he’d rather be governed by the first 500 names in the NY telephone directory than by the members of Congress. I’m beginning to think we’d be better off governed by a random selection of 500 denizens of the St Louis zoo.
This is a distortion. The person in question said that we were heading in that direction with unchecked population growth. If world population continued to double every 30 years, our grandchildren would be facing exactly the human maggot lifestyle.
Holdren seems infatuated and angered by reproduction
I now have his 1977 ecoscience book and will comment more as I read it.
It is good to remind everyone that this is a textbook designed to teach these views from
Not just a book on the subject for general sale
Maybe, but on the other hand, they might look down on the Nazis for not being hardcore enough. After all, the Nazis’ misanthropy targeted specific groups, while Holdren hates the entire human race.
At least the bills they wrote would make more sense.
If anybody knows anything about distortions, you would. In fact, some scientists estimate that the world could support as many as 200 billion people – compared to a current roughly 3 billion. Move out of the city for awhile – maybe it’ll change your perspective a bit. Nah, probably not. In any event, if the population doubled every 30 years (which it won’t – most of the growth comes from the least developed parts of the world, and they’re in the process of catching up thanks to US developed technology), it would take around 180 years for it to reach the area of 200 billion, and neither you nor I can begin to conceive of what the state of the world will be by then. Given just the progress of the last century, it is entirely conceivable that we will have colonized the more suitable planets of this system, and possibly developed the technology to move far beyond. It’s also just as possible that the Muslims will have taken over the planet and the endless vicious wars between Sunni and Shia combined with their 7th century “civilization” will have reduced the total population to a few million. In any event, murdering our children and elderly by the millions won’t do much to help, given that most of the developed world is struggling not with population growth, but with population decline due to declining birth rates (abetted by a monstrously high abortion rate).
I do think the birth certificate issue should be handled under the radar; then spring it on him. There is no way it will ever have credibility now, IMHO.
These people are godless enemies of the human race.
txvet2 said (#17):
Google “world population”. The figure is 6.7 Billion, but what’s a factor of two among friends?
The “like maggots” line was agreeing with you: the earth could support 200 Billion people, but they would be living like maggots.
Well, maybe. They are enemies of the human race, for sure, whether or not they are ‘godless.’ There are some awfully malevolent gods out there.
If human nature actually led prosperous populations to multiply more rather than less, then they would have a point.
However, humans do not behave that way. Prosperous human populations tend to underbreed themselves toward extinction.
As long as the average human on the globe continues to become more prosperous the population bomb will never go off. So the only point those mankind hating lunatics have are the ones on the tops of their heads.
The God Said Argument is not necessary to the discussion.
It absolutely is if you believe there is a sovereign God who made us.
For anyone who has Holdern’s book ECOSCIENCE, I would also refer them to page 846 where he discusses and promotes not only ZPG, “Zero Population Growth”, but also ZEG, “Zero Economic Growth”
This guy is certifiable
I have a theory that “lgm” is actually a creation of Michelle’s designed to test the patience of conservatives who visit here in order to help us deal with the mindlessly lockstep liberals we encounter in our separate lives.
It’s the only rationale I can come up with to explain someone who NO MATTER FREAKING WHAT always has to take the other side of whatever Michelle posts.
No, it is still not _necessary_ to the discussion. When the discussion is taking place on a nonreligious public message board it is not only not necessary, it is also counterproductive.
The God Said Argument is only useful when all sides to the discussion agree on the same view of the same religious document. Or as a battle cry.
That’s not even remotely true. You don’t have to have agreement on everything to have a discussion. What you can say is, “Well, I don’t hold to that idea/concept/belief.”
I won’t accept the a priori, out-of-hand dismissal of a belief system, “because you say so.”
It’s part and parcel of “anything that sounds religious is not part of the public square”.
What happens if the “religious” is true? A true dedication to truth, as such, would admit that unless you have absolute proof that something deemed “religious” is NOT true, you can’t dismiss it out-of-hand as not a part of the discussion. And by the way, this isn’t a “non-religious public message board”; it’s the comments section on a popular Conservative’s blog.
Historically, as societies grow more prosperous, they actually tend to reproduce less. This is happening in Europe and our own population growth would slow down considerably if it weren’t for immigration. Prosperity tends to raise the cost of living until babies become expensive.
Over-population was the global-warming of the 1950′s. Everybody bought into it. If you read any science fiction of the time (and i read almost all of it), every author (many excellent engineers and scientists) argued that the human race was on course for endless population growth and only war could stop it — a real all out N-war, not some weenie kerfuffle like WWII.
They were wrong. Population growth peaked in that decade and has been declining ever sense. For heaven’s sake — countries like Japan and Russia are going extinct. Look at the data. Europe is heading below replacement level. Look at the data! Even China is seriously rethinking it’s one-child rule.
Yeah, and if Ted Kennedy could belch helium he would float up to the stratosphere. So what?
In other words, it [world population, not TK] is not and it won’t. There is a whole lot more to the story of population rise and decline than stupid exponential progressions. In any event, rich societies experience rapid declines in population growth. Poor societies cannot sustain such growth. Ever. There is this little thing called data and it tends to mess up lame theories real bad.
It could be argued in fact that the whole of human race is going extinct, which you would think would make the eco-fascists happy but nothing makes them happy.
Despite all the prognostications of the 50′s SF writers, when the genre was at its peak, the stars are safe from us. But nothing is safe from the eco-fascists who use what they call “science” to justify policies of mass-murder. Want a prediction? It will be murder based on race. At least that will be the beginning. The survivors will see how it ends up.
You’re already there, maggot.
That is not what I was saying. I am perfectly happy Christians express their religion based values. Anywhere. I wish they would do it more.
Yes, of course it is. If you want to make a literalist religious comment, then go right ahead. You obviously do not need my approval of what you say here.
I laughed outloud with that one MajorO! I’ve wonder about that my self at times. I will admit that there was one instance (a year or so ago) that lgm and I have agreed.
But this Holdren guy is a piece of work. Not your run of the mill abortionist, for sure.
That’s only because Michelle tweaked the “lgm algorithm” to occasionally agree so as not to draw suspicion!
beenthere said (#29):
And because they bought into it, they did something about it. Population growth slowed. Now let’s slow CO2 production.
Rubbish squared and cubed. The analogy is void. Who is they? What did they do? Since nobody knew that the population growth had peaked (data in the 60s began to show the trend), how did they know to do anything?
The burden of proof is on you. Deal with it.
lgm,
Do you live anywhere near Manhattan? the population density is over 70,000 per square mile. This means that 300 million Americans could all live in the state of Connecticut at the same population density. Some would argue that Manhattan has already achieved maggot living status. But if you do the math, America could experience quite a boost in population without approaching anything near the catastrophe Holdren and the Ehrlichs claim.
Why should we slow down CO2 production? Do you have any evidence that increasing CO2 levels are contributing to climate change? I have not seen any peer reviewed article that claims to have data showing such a correlation. I am not asking for what political agencies buy into AGW, I am seriously asking for a link to an article that shows a positive correlation between CO2 levels and temperature.
With all due respect, I’ve seen our hostess ignore issues primarily to issue a truther test, and interpret the results in a fairly biased way.
It’s not flattering no matter who does it.
“Are we not men?”
“DEE-DEE-VEE-OHH!”
Sometimes, I still miss the ’80s.
Is that what Obama meant when he said, “we came together to remake this great nation”? His comment didn’t make sense to me because if it’s already a “great nation”, why remake it? But if “remake” means the same thing as “de-development”, then it makes perfect sense. Obama wants to de-develope this great nation and spread its wealth around until everyone is poor. (But, at least, everyone will be equally poor.)
Well not everyone will be equally poor, just as in animal farm some will be more poor than others…….
And the old big ear barry lies about the wonders of his health system takeover the more he sounds like “Squealer”
Just with bigger ears
If we don’t change direction soon, we’ll end up where we’re going.
Professor Irwin Corey
Did your parents ever express regret for not buying in?
Ya gotta hand it to lgm. There is no liberal action or statement that he will not attempt to defend or blame on Bush.
Translation:
Obama is the god and Holdren is the son. Together they are going to save the world with their ideas.
You go first…stop breathing
Goes to show that a math teacher has no business dabbling in science.
Odopey couldn’t handle any of the events President Bush faced or walk a mile in his shoes, and the Bush’s have more Class in their little finger than the Odopey’s ever will.
How can you teach math from a basement eating greasy food all day? delivered by his mom probably.
You go first. Stop exhaling CO2.
I agree, if Obama was forced to face 1/2 the pressure Bush was, the glass puppet would shatter.
Reminds me of humpty dumpty sitting on a wall.
Oh, Jangar. You beat me to it!
lgm= Poster child for birth control!
Are you suggesting we suffocate all the poor trees and other plants?
I’d like to see Obambi clear brush and mend fences (“I got a hangnail!”). Better yet, I think Obama needs to go on a quail hunting trip
ummmm, that was global freezing. We in Mn. are under a 50′ glacier right now!!!
No kidding. That would be the only reason to resist overturning Roe v. Wade.
We in America are under the heavy hand of a cold-hearted Democrat dictator.
as a puppet Obama has puppet masters.
A bunch of giddy playground bullies. Just wait another year when the electorate goes to the polls. This is shaping up to be larger than ’94…
At least is should. Will be a litmus test as to where our nation is at, that’s for sure.
Yogi Berra was a professor too?
“Professor Corey, Why is the sky blue?”
lgm,
The last 11 years global temperatures have dropped. During this same period CO2 levels have increased? How could that happen?
Hint: Mars, Neptune and Titan all had the same proportional changes along with four other bodies in the solar system……
ooooooooooooooooops!
Yeah, relying on faulty memory. In any event the rest of my post stands, with adjustment for the starting number – that still leaves a century or more of technological advances, even in the unlikely event that the population doubles every 30 years.
All of the talk about what needs to be done about “unchecked population growth” flies in the face of demographic realities in most nations on the Earth. Throughout Europe, most of Asia, and North America, populations are dropping rapidly. The only reason there is any growth in the United States (which the current fertility is at 2.11, the minimum rate in order for growth) at all is because of immigration (legal and the other kind). The same can be said about Europe. The AVERAGE fertility rate in Europe is about 1.3, meaning that Europe’s native populations are in an uncontrollable death-spiral. And again, the only reason there is any sustained population growth at all is because of immigration from North Africa and the Middle East.
China has the “one child per couple” law, that is rigidly regulated. In fact, every Asian country that has a stake in the world’s economy is destroying itself from within. Essentially, the only nations in Asia that are growing in population are Muslim-controlled nations. African Muslim populations are also growing in the Northern, Mediterranean regions, while in the areas populated by other peoples, they are either wiping each other out in civil wars or by uncontrolled spread of STDs, such as AIDS.
So in reality, these leftist flat-earthers are getting their wish (with the exception of most Latin-American and Muslim countries) as far as not baring children and doing what is necessary to maintain their culture. However, the nations that ARE growing in population (the dirt-poor, ignorant, and ANGRY people of the world) are just the sorts who the left actually purport to like and support. In a few decades, Europe will be a Muslim continent, the United States will be a third-world basket-case, and a universal leftist utopia will be firmly established. It’s only a matter of time.
I’d bet Holdren’s favorite TV show is Life After People on the History Channel.
Don’t you see?!?!?! Are you really that blind?!?! Our carbon emissions are so out of control they’re affecting the weather on other planets!
Pass cap and trade now!
Ah yes, the two letter word Satan used on the Christ in the Wilderness…
‘If’
Funny, lgm, are you saying European countries got it right & stopped having kids? Oooo; what a lovely playground for the population boom of Shari’a loving folks. What say you?
Our local weatherfolks had some interesting data last night. We in Minnesota are currently experiencing a very COOL summer. Back in 1917, we hit an all-time high temperature of 115.5 degrees at the end of July. In 1988 (if I remember correctly), we had 27 days of temps over 90 degrees in the month of July. In 2006, we had 9 days of 90+, in 2007, we had 8 days, and this year…none. The average 90+ days in July has gone down considerbly since 1988. Fat Albert…are you listening?
Every once in a while, I indulge in an impossible dream. I dream that we are no longer being held hostage by environmental extremists and their terrorism. We are finally “allowed” to drill in our own country, and build nuclear power plants. We become energy independent and no longer need to grovel to arabs who want to kill us. The country thrives and my 401K goes sky high. Instead of spending my retirement on the internet because it is cheap, I could be spending my time as I had worked my entire life for…travelling, remodeling my home, not worrying about my kid’s future. Then I wake up and realize Obama is still POTUS and I head back to the computer to get some positive reinforcement from you guys!
John P. Holdren, Obama’s director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and President Obama’s top science advisor, wrote in his 1977 book, “Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment,” that trees should have the right to sue people:
http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=51756
That would probably make lumberjacks the little Eichmanns of Obama’s administration.
And not just trees, either. Holdren thinks forests should have the right to sue along with oceans, rivers, and the whole environment.
Because he’s insane, that’s why.
Obviously…along with all the other tree-hugging ecoterrorist extremist wackos who are preventing us from becoming energy independent by drilling and building nuclear plants. Instead, we are seeing our country go bankrupt while we continue to purchase energy from people who want us all dead. And now we are being “ruled” by 40+ other wackos of like mind. The world has gone mad and I am going out to dinner. See ya.
We don’t need eugenics to control over population. If you want more of something, reward it. If you want less of something discourage it. So regulate both legal and illegal immigration into this country because immigrant woman tend to have a higher fertility rate than native born woman. And eliminate state subsidies for the children of serial child producers that can not afford them. If we must assist in world population control, Sponsor programs to help third world countries to become more self sufficient. And gradually increase the ratio of condoms to food and cash in their financial aid packages. If things keep going the way they are, liberals may go extinct.
