The mainstay of retorts by the Left as to anyone who criticized Obama's illegal alien auntie (living in the U.S. on taxpayer-funded services [housing, healthcare, probably food and more] while also defying several previous deportation orders) was that this illegal alien auntie was "frail, elderly."

The woman is still in her fifties, hardly deemed "elderly". And she's not looking so frail, either, nor ever was.

The original news from the liberal media (even they addressed this issue a year ago when the illegal alien auntie was discovered in Boston) was that she "receives a stipend from the local senior center" (or it might have been the local housing authority...), but the point is, she's drawing a salary, she's receiving healthcare services under Medicaid, she's receiving Social Security payments (SSI, welfare), she's in public housing...what ELSE can she exploit that the U.S. taxpayers fund in order to pay for expenses by struggling U.S. CITIZENS (not illegal aliens)?

She's getting lawyers to assist her, on top of all that, and I strongly doubt she's paying anyone anything. A citizen has to come up with a sizable deposit to get any attorney to even discuss a case with them...

What boggles the mind, most of all, is that she's already received deportation orders and has refused to honor them. What judge, what JUDGE, would even tolerate her appearing again to even debate this situation?

That initial news about the woman, also, from a Boston site, quoted the illegal alien auntie as "coming and going" to and from Africa and the U.S. and speaking with a great deal of enjoyment about the happy visits back in Africa, just as she's now speaking about her happy times in Boston. She then has said she needs asylum due to undue pressures "back home" (in Africa). Not to mention the glaring question as to how it is she's paying for airfare "back and forth" for those happy times in Africa...

Could you imagine a Republican President constantly telling the American People that they aren't doing their fair share for poor people, while an illegal alien aunt of his is running around the Country, avoiding legal authorities and living off of public assistance?

I didn't think so.

Could you also imagine Saturday Night Live passing this situation up for a running skit until the aunt is actually caught?

I really didn't think so.

In a survey of relatively ‘poor’ people taken throughout the world reveals that about 80%+ say they would like to come to the US. Yet, our nation is having difficulty accommodating 2-3 million newcomers each year. How many of the world’s poor can we reasonably accept? And, where is the breaking point? By the way, it won't bother Obama that his illegal alien aunti, Zeituni Onyango lives in public housing. After all that is what he and his family are going to do until January, 2009.

She received her full due process through a hearing before a judge on her asylum claim in 2003. As the decision was not to her liking, in 2004, she then appealed the decision before an appellate board, and her claim was reviewed yet again. She lost. She should have complied with the court's orders. She refused, and chose to ride it out in hopes of "another bite at the apple" came along.

She could not prove that she would be persecuted if she had to return to Kenya, to live with the rest of the Obama relatives who, as far as I can see, might be economically disadvantaged, but that doesn't exactly meet the standard of persecution or torture for a grant of asylum. Though I'd imagine she and her supporters would consider the loss of the free ride in the manner to which she is accustomed in the US "torture."

Her nephew has now bought her many more years of yet another round of due process through the impossibly backlogged immigration courts.

I'ts no secret how game our immigration system and remain in the US when one has no other means to remain legally. Just file an asylum application, whether the claim is real or not....and wait. And appeal. And, if you've got the means or ability to hire a high-priced lawyer, just start over and try again.

"So why is this now our problem?"

So John you are okay with forcing the issue and dropping this woman off in the middle of a bunch of sharks?

You are willing to force your principle to the point of putting this lady in harm's way?

I am as strong as I can be about securing our border and getting immigration under control. I will not also support doing something that would harm any one regardless of who they are.

Valuing human life and not knowingly doing intentional harm when it may be avoidable is hardly a "problem".

I’ve been trying to educate myself on the finer points - and single malts definitely qualify as finer points.

Glenfiddich 40y/o (a little pricy, but heaven on earth)
The Glenlivet Archive (great gift bottle to give, as well)

Oh, yea!

I wonder if Obama will invite his long-lost auntie over for cocktails at his nearby vacation home next month, just to mix in with the other distinguished guests, when they will be almost neighbors.

Or is she already kicked under the O-bus and disowned?

He could have the Secret Service hop over to South Boston in a boat, or maybe have Teddie pick her up in his yacht.

BTW - has good ol' Teddie ever invited Obama's auntie over for a dinner party at the Kennedy compound? After all, Teddie is all for uncontrolled immigration - as long as it stays OUTSIDE his compound walls.

Since Obama has $50,000 to spend on ONE FRIGGIN' WEEK, maybe he could pay for his auntie's rent until she is deported.

You are right about the water as we have the droppers nearby at all times. I was referring to the ice. But you are spot on.

Obviously, you are not a peathead. I find the smoke a bit too much most of the time. My wife is the tea-totaler but she encourages my vice as long as I don't drive. Her Christmas present to me every year is a trip to WhiskyFest in Chicago. Apparently, we have a great marriage.

If you find yourself in Phoenix sometime, call out.

...Of course, be sure to drink it neat when the whisky is old enough to be out on its own (above 18 years).
Neat, as in no ice, but I've always heard that a drop of still water helps bring out the whisky's flavors.

Most good Scotches are out of my price range right now - the stereotypical champagne tastes, beer budget, except mine tends more toward a water budget right now. :-P

I did manage to try a twelve year old Macallan not too long ago. It was nice and smooth on the tongue - very different than Laphroaig (I did like Laphroaig's smokiness, though my other half didn't care for it - but he's not much of a whisky drinker).

Since I grew up in a tea-totaling family, I've been trying to educate myself on the finer points - and single malts definitely qualify as finer points. It's a pleasure conversing/corresponding with someone who also appreciates such things. :-)

…Of course, be sure to drink it neat when the whisky is old enough to be out on its own (above 18 years).

Neat, as in no ice, but I’ve always heard that a drop of still water helps bring out the whisky’s flavors.
