Talk amongst yourselves. I’m grabbing a little rest today and gearing up for Week 2 of the Culture of Corruption book tour. Tomorrow, I’m scheduled to appear on the panel of This Week with George Stephanopoulos. Yes, really.

You can watch yesterday’s Washington Journal appearance here and my encounter with Matt Lauer here.

Reader Maxwell writes that he ordered the book AND a shattered O logo magnet for his car — and sends this pic. Love it!

Guess who said the following words:

I remain distressed that the White House during this confirmation process, which overall went smoothly, failed to provide critical documents as part of the record that could have provided us with a better basis to make our judgment with respect to the nomination. This White House continues to stymie efforts on the part of the Senate to do its job. I hope with the next nominee who comes up for the Supreme Court that the White House recognizes that in fact it is its duty not just to the Senate but to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate the record of every single nominee who comes before us.

    Who said that?

    Barack Hussein Obama. Yes, really.

I hope the Obama White House recognizes that in fact it is its duty not just to the Senate but to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate the record of Barack Obama.

    Where’s your birth certificate, Barry?

Where are your college records, Barry?

Where are your passport records, Barry?

Before the Senate can confirm your Supreme Court nominee, the Senate must first put to rest the questions about your eligibility by:

    1) Inspecting an official copy of your original birth certificate, delivered under seal directly from the State of Hawaii, and

    2) Asking the Supreme Court to clarify the definition of “natural born citizen” so that the senate can support and defend the Constitution (relevant sections include Article II Section 1, and the 12th, 14th, and 20th Amendments).

It is your duty to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate your record and your eligibility to hold the office of President.

Sowing and reaping, Barry, sowing and reaping.

Leo Donofrio responded to my comment saying:

That was really well said, my friend. This comment here needs to spread far and wide. Putting their own words back in their face is always the best way to fight.

    ——-

My reason for posting this here is to do my part to spread this far and wide. Any MM reader who wants to send this text to their Senator has my 100% permission (and thanks) to do so.

    Ask your Senator:

How can you even consider a vote to confirm a Supreme Court justice, when the eligibility of the President who nominated her is in doubt?

Today is the anniversary of the Pleosti Raid, or debacle depending on your point of view. You can read more about it here:

    http://www.redstate.com/skanderbeg/2009/08/01/august-1st-1943-the-ploesti-raid/

Shared before that I am a hospice nurse. I am also a Vietnam Era vet. My dad and uncle were B17 pilots in European theater. I have always been interested in these kinds of stories.

We have a VA locally and some of the WII vets go through their hospice but we also have some of them who are admitted to our non-profit hospice. Being a male nurse I tend to get more men then women and hance get many of these WWII guys.

Some months ago I was given a new patient and went to meet him. He was living with his son so I meet both of them. We did that first visit admission chatter. He shared he had been in WWII. I shared about my dad. That was about it.

That night on TV one of the cable history channels had a show about this raid. How some of the loss of life was due to poor or mis-planning, whatever you want to call it, the raid itself, etc. Was fascinating.

I saw this new patient again in 2 days. I told him about the special I had seen. His reply, “I was a gunner on one of those B24′s and I have my personal diary and logs still in a box under my bed.” Not only that but his whole countenance changed. He went from looking like my laptop does when its on battery and the screen is in that “just be bright enough to see but don’t drain the battery mode” and then I plug it in and the screen goes to that “Brighten up man, you are plugged in mode”. That’s exactly what he did. His son stopped in his tracks as well. The old coot asked if we wanted to see them. Well of course we did. He dug them out and started sharing. He wept like it was yesterday. As an enlisted man/gunner he of course was buddies with the enlisted crew on many of those B24′s. He had a first hand view of planes going down, getting shot up, etc. I’m sure it felt like all of this happened yesterday to him.

His son had no idea. The old guy said no one ever seemed interested enough for him to dig the stuff out.

I was able to make contact through one of the many web sites now up for these bomber squadrons and found the pilot of this guy’s B24 was living in a retirement community near by. I was not present when they made contact but the did get together. The old guy died not too long after. I think about him when I read or hear about this raid.

His son appreciated the opportunity to get to know his dad differently. I guess he had never thought of his dad as a young adult going through the immense stuggle of life and death of WWII. Of course the diary and logs are prized possessions now.

I wish the VA had a more aggressive and bigger hospice program. I’d be working for them if so.

All this talk of Zombies made me think of Zombietime so I spent some time over there. I thought this tidbit was worth sharing:

Of course, with the benefit of more historical hindsight we now know that the leftist tactic of pooh-poohing the very notion of there being a struggle against “the bad guys” is simply a clever way of sidestepping being perceived as siding with those very same bad guys. The dynamic goes like this: The pro-America right posits an us-vs.-them framework, such as “We are freedom-loving pro-democracy capitalists; those bad guys are freedom-hating anti-democratic communists/Islamists/etc. We conservatives choose the side of freedom; what side do you choose?” Now, many on the far left do side with the enemies of capitalism; but strategically, they don’t want to be identified as such. So, in response to this framework, instead of taking sides in a good-vs.-evil narrative which they can’t win, they try to demolish the whole framework altogether.

I hadn’t ever looked at it quite like that. Well said, Zombie.

The only problem with being on a panel of lefties is that they talk over you and each other. They interrupt and filibuster. And if you aren’t aggresive enough, you won’t get your point across. They are masters at interrupting just as you are making your case. I know Michelle will do well. But they will do their best to derail her. I called the salesman we bought our last car from and told him to keep an eye on those cars coming in, because if the deal is right I’ll give him $5,000 right now for a good used car.

Since the Birther business won’t go away (as I’m sure MM devoutly wishes it would), I thought I would share these two items, a comment from the great Mark Steyn and a link to the very thoughtful writeup by Andrew McCarthy that he was responding to.

There is a problem here, unquestionably — though it is not quite the problem people might think it is.

    First Steyn:

At the time of his birth, Barack Obama was the son of a British subject — like every American president up to Martin van Buren. I believe, under certain interpretations of Britain’s revised nationality law, President Obama would qualify as a “British Overseas Citizen” — for whatever that’s worth (unlike most other countries, where it’s merely a rhetorical term, Britain has literal and official categories of third-class citizenship).

But the rest of Andy’s piece I found most interesting. It’s the story of a self-invented man, a kind of Gatsby for the multiculti age who appears fully-formed on the world stage and for whom the first few decades of his short existence are mostly a source of misty watercolored but highly calculated anecdotage that, when you try to pin it down, seems to wiggle free of such humdrum earthbound concepts as facts.

Do I think he was born in Hawaii? Yes — if only because the alternative is way too audacious (to use an Obama-ism) to contemplate.

But do I think there’s something on the long-form birth certificate he doesn’t want us to see? Yes. That would seem entirely likely — and consistent with his modus operandi.  [My emphasis]

As for the alleged “kookiness” of birthers, a true conspiracy theorist would surely believe that Obama deliberately started the birth-certificate business in order to make it easier to dismiss his opponents as deranged.

    Now here’s the link.

I would suggest an immediate cut on pay to any state employee making more than 60k.

The cuts could be staggered so that, as the left always suggests, those most able to pay for it would pay the most.

So state employees making say in excess of 100k pay a much higher portion than a state employee only making 90k.

State employees making in excess of 150k would certainly pay the most. But since they earn their living from the taxes paid by someone else, they obviously care more and would certainly want to help as much as possible.

I just learned from the Mark Levin show that all cars turned in for the “Cash for Clunkers” program will have the engines permanently disabled and the remaining parts crushed. This will have the unexpected consequence of making it more expensive for those who can’t afford a new car to get parts for the clunkers that they drive to work everyday. Nice job Obama! Maybe “Cash for Clunkers” should be changed to “Let them drive Mercedes”

    Palin Bullies: Exposed And Whining
Sarah Palin has been the target of the left from the very day she walked onto the public stage, and their venom continues on. The problem is, they don’t like being exposed, and now that they’ve been, they’re crying foul and one of the whiners has brought her issues to my door (via email)…

    Subject: Copyright Violation
The video contains five images which I own and did not give permission to be used.

    They appear at 3:34, 6:37, 6:40, 6:45 and 7:05.

This video has already been taken down at multiple video sharing sites for the copyright infringement.

I guess that’s supposed to impress me.

I state UNDER PENALTY OF PERJURY that:– I am the owner, or an agent authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
    – I have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and

    Thanks!

For reasons of common courtesy, I didn’t publish Ms. Devon’s (aka AKMuckraker) phone number.

And after further review (as Executive Director of NMATV), I will not censor the video in question.

The Fair Use Clause of the Copyright Law of 1976 allows for the rebroadcast of copyrighted works for the purpose of education, commentary, and criticism.

While Ms. Devon feels she may have been violated, I think the only violation is that these malicious liberal thugs got caught, have been publicly outed, and are justifiably paranoid of potential legal trouble from Mrs. Palin. Note, Ms. Devon doesn’t dispute the content of the video; just the fact her mug was inserted therein.

Meaner things have been done to Sarah Palin.

Oh, and by the way… here’s the video.

Did Jesus actually reveal name of the ‘antichrist’? According to the film maker: “When I started doing a little research, I found the Greek word for ‘lightning’ is ‘astrape’, and the Hebrew equivalent is ‘Baraq,’”

    From Wiki-P:

Al-Burāq (Arabic: البُراق‎ al-Burāq “lightning”) is a miraculous steed, described as a creature from the heavens which transported the prophets.

Well, he is lightning fast trying to get his agenda passed. I guess one could say he is “transporting” his teachers and prophets messages…Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven.

Many in history have been deemed “anti-Christ.” The One who assumes great power, whose Army is legion, who goes against or con volutes Christ’s message, and does, or attempts to do harm to man, under the guise of the “common good,” is demonized.

For them, and maybe us as well, the anti-Christ is the one that fits the profile at the time. Oops! Is that racist…profiling?

An excellent article from, believe it or not, the Huffington Post, by Mark Joseph:

The only thing weirder that the birthers are…..the anti-birthers.

The only thing weirder than the Birthers are the anti-Birthers, who blame the Birthers for being conspiracy theorists yet actively feed the conspiracy by refusing to call for President Obama to release his birth certificate.

The state official in Hawaii who manages such things has reiterated that there is indeed an original birth certificate on file which would confirm President Obama’s having been born in Hawaii and that she has seen it, but state law won’t allow her to release it unless the president authorizes it.

So what’s the problem here? Release the original and let’s be done with this madness.

I realize there are some faith-based Obama supporters who believe without seeing, but the rest of us in the reality-based world are starting to get that strange feeling we got when Mark Sanford tried to convince us that he was away from his family on Father’s Day, hiking the Appalachian trail in order to clear his head and write a book.

During the last campaign, John McCain faced similar questions and promptly responded by releasing his original birth certificate. That’s how normal people with nothing to hide handle these things.

Most American’s aren’t Birthers or anti-Birthers, but we are beginning to wonder why the president doesn’t put this one to rest once and for all. Every day he allows this circus to continue is another day that he behaves less like the President of the United States facing weird accusations from fringe groups and more like a strange politician flying to Argentina to visit his soul-mate while pretending to be hiking the Appalachians.

Sounds like Obamacare to me. And the doofuses are swallowing it hook, line and sinker. Is there ANYTHING the government does these days that even HINTS at being honest? ANYTHING?

Not true around here. You can get $4500, plus up to a $4500 factory discount, plus the salvage value of the vehicle, plus a dealer discount off the list price. It’s not difficult to get the vehicle for 1/2 the sticker price.

It might be another stupid government program, but for someone who was going to buy a car anyway it is one heck of a deal.
