I saw on Fox Report today a revolt against Specter and Sebilius in Pennsylvania during a townhall. A lot of boo’s against these two liberals.

I saw two info-babes this morning (one on CNN, the other on MSNBC) say that, in relation to Obama’s current health care proposal, those who fear diminished standards of care for the elderly are flat out lying.
Prediction - this is a mantra that Podesta’s media group will have the MSM repeating constantly until Congress returns from vacation, because Obama hasn’t been exactly delivering out there on the road or through his pressers. Judging public reaction so far, he’s going to need all the media help he can get.
I’m surprised this happened in Austin. Austin is liberal, very liberal, compared to the rest of Texas.
That there are people there who protested is a good sign.
Columbus, OH had *thousands* show up, although the media only said “hundreds.”

Anyone have any suggestions? If I call DC, they refer me to the local office saying they will know…..the local office then doesn’t know. Franken’s DC office refers you to a number that only has voicemail. From what I understand, my congressman Mike Michaud (ME) has chosen not to come home to face his constituents. He has a nice new beautiful home in the Bahamas, and will be going straight there for his break.
Look at where we are at….so called “Representatives” that is people who’s job it is to represent the people that elected them, with me so far,….consider themselves to be “honor” bound to ignore their “sacred” oaths. Of course the hand on the Bible thing is irrelevant, because we are no longer a Christian nation. Admittedly NOT ONE of these “representatives” is smart enough to read and understand even one page of this utopian dream, but be assured because they heard from somebody that someone has read some of it and is pretty sure that these pages of paper once signed will cure everything. Of Course though we must understand that our Great Leaders cannot at this time subject themselves to what they are so eager to force on us little ones.. It is good enough for us, but they would not consider subjecting themselves or their families to such foolishness.

Interesting article and great comments. Now that our government has our attention, we need to organize and get their full attention. America does not need Clunker Care for any segment of our society.
The only non-violent way to stop the disaster that is the Obama administration is to go to town hall meetings and let the politicians have it with both barrels. These elitist politicians supposedly work for us. Hopefully, in 2010, they will be out on the street having to live under the disasters they are creating.
If would be poetic justice if Specter was denied further cancer treatment because of his age.
One final point, the people who are going to these meetings are the working class who knows what is going on. You note that the welfare class isn’t there because they figure to get more government goodies at the expense of those who work for a living. We need a complete house and senate cleaning over the next few years followed by a massive reduction in the government bureaucracy – starting with the Departments of Energy and Education.
The interesting thing is that when a small group of liberal activists protest something, the press turns it into “Million Man March II” and congress either stops impending legislation or speeds through “needed” legislation at Warp 9.
When a larger group of concerned citizens voices it’s displeasure at more socialist legislation, the press denegrates them and congress doesn’t listen.

When Sebelius suggests to the audience that they urge their Congressmen to read the bill, someone should have asked both of them if THEY had read it. I’m sure it would have triggered another sob story.

As for this whole healthcare reform debate/debacle, I don’t recall offhand who brought this up (I think it was John Stossel), but part of the problem is how we’ve come to expect insurance to pay for routine healthcare instead of it being a safety net for catastrophic health needs (accidents, operations, i.e. real emergencies), just like car insurance or homeowner’s insurance.
Your car insurance doesn’t pay for routine maintenance like oil changes and new tires, nor does homeowner’s insurance pay for new lightbulbs (I wonder if it will pay for the hazmat teams that will be needed to clean up when one of those new government mandated ‘green’ bulbs breaks? But I digress….)
Simple: change the bills title from ‘Healthcare Reform’ to ‘Cash for Granny’ and let’s see how that flies…

The outrage is definitely faked and is not to be confused with spontaneous, heartfelt chanting of “Yes We Can” at Obama rallies.

Evidence of what? That someone (or some group) shared what they thought would be an effective strategy does not mean that every individual opposed to Obama’s brand of health care reform and protests it is doing so as a direct result of this memo.

Now…regarding the health care bill, I have a serious question for you that I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else suggest as a possibility…and I’d love to get your take on it.
Given the fact that the so-called blue dogs knew they’d get an earful about health care and since congress failed to ram it all the way through prior to the recess, is it possible that the blue dogs gave in and allowed it to go through committee in order to provide themselves with political cover?
I mean they know they’re going to get blasted on it…especially now since as I understand it, we’ll be able to see a final markup (if one isn’t already available). The more people learn about this, the more the sentiment turns against it.

You know, I could care less if Obama managed a chain of 7-11′s well…it still doesn’t qualify him to manage my healthcare. The response from America should be a collective HELL NO as opposed to arguing over merits, etc. Same thing with the congress critters on break…HELL NO!

This was a Townhall meeting where the Congressman was supposed to listen to his constituents. Obviously he wasn’t in a listening mode so they TOLD him, in no uncertain terms, how he should vote. If he disregards their voices now, then he will certainly hear their voices next election day. Or would that too be something common citizens are not allowed to do?
San Fran Nan earlier stated she ‘felt’ that 70% of the American public want Congress to pass their health care package. If she had the intestinal fortitude to hold a Townhall meeting she would be quickly disabused of that idea!
I just got off the phone with the office of my congressman (Inslee). There will be no townhall as such I was informed. Instead there will be a “telephone townhall,” which means as a good subject I will be given a phone number to call on a wednesday evening. If I am lucky and get through, I will be permitted to ask a question, and presumably everyone on the line will be blessed with the answer.
You will be happy to learn the only four-letter words I used were “dear” and “lame” But this is not acceptable. The cowards have to come out or resign.

As of a phone call to her office on Friday, San Fran Nan had no Town Hall meetings scheduled in her district.
The rest of the congresspeople should be really angry that she is sending them out to have Town Hall meetings to sell her plan when she is not willing to have even one herself!
And the voters of San Francisco should be angry that she doesn’t think it is necessary to have a meeting for constituents!
