I just signed up at the 2996 Project, asking for an assigned victim/friend to honor at my blog.

What a tremendous idea this is, to keep alive the memories of our murdered friends, that fateful day.

Alright, I left 3 comments at the link provided above volunteering to write a tribute essay but all three are “awaiting to be moderated” while comment after comment gets posted ahead of mine. Are there specific criteria required for being approved that I am not aware of? Am I doing something wrong?

I think this 2,996 project is a great idea and hope to be part of it but if my offer gets rejected, I am going to research and write an essay related to my personal experience with the only victim of 9/11 I ever met and post it to my unused e-zine myself.

I’ve got the bug now and I’m too compulsive to drop it.

Just submitted my application. I actually have an e-zine partly set-up called “Mishigas Central” that I had abandoned when one of my partners developed breast cancer. I would gladly revive it even if only for this one-time event. I’m a fairly good writer, especially when not writing on the fly for blogs. I’m sure I could write something worth reading.

Aside from that, I’m glad to learn that Katie Favazza is doing well. I was wondering what happened to her when Mary Katherine Ham moved to the Weekly Standard. Now I know. Maybe she can get my copy of “Culture of Corruption” autographed (before I kill myself, hint, hint…).
