The perfect Americorps candidate?
Maybe Michelle Obama will hire this grievance-mongerer to replace the fired Americorps inspector general. Via the NYPost:
She has given new meaning to a class-action lawsuit.
Trina Thompson gave it the old college try, but couldn’t find work. Now she thinks her sheepskin wasn’t worth her time, and is suing her alma mater for her money back.
The Monroe College grad wants the $70,000 she spent on tuition because she hasn’t found gainful employment since earning her bachelor’s degree in April, according to a suit filed in Bronx Supreme Court on July 24.
The 27-year-old alleges the business-oriented Bronx school hasn’t lived up to its end of the bargain, and has not done enough to find her a job.
The information-technology student blames Monroe’s Office of Career Advancement for not providing her with the leads and career advice it promised.
“They have not tried hard enough to help me,” the frustrated Bronx resident wrote about the school in her lawsuit.
“She’s angry,” said Thompson’s mother, Carol. “She’s very angry at her situation. She put all her faith in them, and so did I. They’re not making an effort.
“She’s finally finished [with school], and I’m so proud of her. She just wants a job.”
I’ll have to re-read the Declaration of Independence. I could have sworn it didn’t say “Life, liberty, and a guaranteed job upon college graduation.”

Sounds like she’s suing on a contractual issue, not the Consitution (or Declaration of Independence). If she was promised better career services and the school didn’t deliver, I don’t see why she shouldn’t sue.
While it is impossible from the report to know exactly when she turned 27, Trina Thompson seems otherwise well qualified (by last November’s standards) to become Whiner-in-Chief on January 20, 2017.
How many employers made a mental note not to hire Trina Thompson after reading about this lawsuit? This girl is her own worst enemy.
The ultimate in the entitlement mentality. Wow. Talk about chickens coming home to roost. May God help us all.
Yes, and so do many millions of others.
I wonder how many jobs she could have looked for in the time she spent getting this lawsuit together.
May I suggest she walk her “entittlement mentality” down to the closest military recruiting office and enlist (I certaintly wouldn’t want her part of the Officer Corps).
I am graduating in less than 2 weeks, haven’t had a job since April and yet I am still working hard at finding one.
I know why-Its because I am a domestic right wing terrorist (military veteran) and living in Memphis (white male). Alas, affirmative action and racial discrimination does not apply to people like moi…

Our prayers are with you gunslinger. The right job will come your way soon.
Not to be a contrarian, but part of me almost (only almost) can agree with her lawsuit. The university system she suffered likely has contributed to her sense of entitlement and also likely left her with a worthless degree that cost a whole lot of money. Again, operative word “almost.” Her best education should have begun by now, realizing what a sham her degree likely is. No degree, though however good, can otherwise absorb the ill effects of being a total schmuck.
Congratulations on having King Willie Herenton finally resign as mayor of Memphis, but good luck with Lowery in the meantime.
Good luck with the job search.
Behiker-
Thanks!
As far as the job search is concerned, things could be worse and I am getting ready for ETSU next semester anyway.

Since she has attained this ‘education’ over multiple years, it can be said she was not aware of how bad the ‘education system/job market’ was at the start of this administration. Therefore;
It’s bush’s fault !!!
Agreed.
Good post.
While we were in the middle of putting our three kids through college, I came to the conclusion that huge changes are needed – such as finding a cheaper, better alternative to the ridiculously, unnecessarily expensive 4-year undergraduate degree.
I think serious people should get together with business and industry to develop an alternative path to educate students/kids/call-them-what-you-will and prepare them for adulthood and the workforce.
‘Course, we’ll have to get rid of – banish to total irrelevance, meaninglessness, and impotence – the socialists first, because they are the “root cause”, to use one of their favorite terms, of this problem.
There IS an alternative; it’s called ‘OJT”.
I wouldn’t hire Democrats or graduates from liberal colleges. Bad enough their elected officials destroyed our Constitution and Economy. I’d have employees examine their cars for Obama bumper stickers. Check online for Democrat donations. Have someone in the waiting lobby converse with the interviewee about the Iraq war… the one true way to separate the deranged from the stable.
I don’t disagree.
My internship and residency were OJT, believe me!
Personal responsibility for our choices. Not a new idea. So, let’s apply it to our lives and leave the lawyers out of it.
Gee, if I were a prospective employer, I know it would make an impression on me if I saw that a candidate had filed suit against a school for allegedly not helping her enough to get a full-time job. That action would say, “this girl’s trouble.” The first time she didn’t get a hoped-for promotion, she’d be suing. Uh, Trina, have you tried Wal-Mart or McDonald’s? Or listen to your Mentor, Michelle O, and go into community service. I’ll bet tho $70K was spent from loans about to come due, so maybe government employment with a promise to discount the loans will help, there sweety. Americorps, serving in your own neighborhood, maybe?
Just went to the school’s web site and found this:
And also this:
Assuming all of these resources were made available to the Plaintiff, I’d say “tough beans, Trina, that’s life!” If they weren’t offered as promised, okay, get your money back — but somehow I’ll bet Ms. Entitlement didn’t do everything on her part she was supposed to do. Just sayin’.
She’s not going to get a job now. She just made her problems exponentially worse. No company in the world will hire someone this litigious. Worse, she has now -unless she withdraws her lawsuit- just made her problem lifelong. A background check will pick up lawsuits filed and 25 years from now when no one has heard of this lawsuit, a prospective employer will see that and say “Hhhmmm….I don’t think so…….”
gunslingerpatriot (#6) is right, she should march down to the closest military recruitment office; and talk real nice so maybe they would take her.
Maybe Obama should sue Columbia University for his foreign policy mistakes.
It took her until she was 27 to earn her bachelors? And NOT because she was already working??? No DUH her lazy/incompetent butt can’t find work. She doesn’t WANT a job, she just wants an easy 70k. FFS, I know MASTERS recipients who had to settle for internships out of grad school. What a greedy expletive!
El Rider maybe we should all sue Columbia U for his foreign policy mistakes!
I finished a computers program in Jan. because I was considering a career change and my job does not require the use of computers. Needless to say no one in NYC was hiring at the time so I took an unpaid internship. I found it on my own because the “career office” wasn’t happy with my career “path”. I am now with my company part-time with flexible hours in a field that I love.
my point is that these career development offices are a tool and not a guarantee. they always” make that perfectly clear” when you speak to them.
my take on these hypereducated is that they think they deserve the ceo’s job right out of school and are not interested in getting in anywhere on the entry level and moving up.
I wonder how hard she has tried to help herself. I suspect she has sat around waiting for someone else to do it all for her.
Suing your college because you blame them for not getting you a job is so going to impress prospective employers. People like this live to make everyone around them miserable. I wouldn’t touch this woman with a ten foot pole.
Normally, she probably wouldn’t have any problems getting a job with an IT degree, unless her entitlement attitudel shows through in her interviews.
However, IT barely started recovering from the dotcom bust when this recession hit and most tech companies are laying people off. Why should she get a job when good people with proven skills and experience can’t?
Welcome to the real world Trina.
Don’t you like the Polish? Are you racist?!?
/sarc
You know this is a joke because the Obama administration doesn’t hire people fresh out of second rate schools with no experience to positions of high authority. That was a Bush specialty.
your joking around right? how do you show better services and how do show they didn’t deliver. Looks like the graduate may want to consider herself and the economy rather than go blaming where she got an education.
I may have the reason, but that would make me a racist.

I didn’t have any problem finding my first full time job when I got my BS Electrical Engineering degree in 1964.
***
I didn’t have to go to any job interviews–no company would hire a 23 year old male with a 1A draft card status. No need to waste their time.
***
My next employer was the U.S. Army–2 years starting as a $78 a month private and ending as a $120 a month Spec4. And I got real On the Job Training in Missile Telemetry, Radar and Launcher Instrumentation, Data Analysis, etc.–a real co-op program that gave me good employment for the next 41 years work.
***
Going to school is not for “dabbling around” in fun stuff. Engineering, business, nursing, accounting, teaching, physics, etc. still have a lot of employment opportunities. Liberal arts not so many chances.
***
Co-op programs are the best help a student can get in obtaining good future employment.
***
I think the lady might apply to the PRESIDENT OBAMA (PBUH) COMMUNITY ORGANIZING SCHOOL. It worked out pretty well for the Messiah–not so well for the U.S.A.

GSP,
Representative or victim? Inquiring minds want to know.
Another example of the longstanding myth that a kid out of high school has to have a college education or they won’t make money. You want your kids to make money today? Tell them to get in a trade. They may have to sweat when they go to work, but they will make money.
Anecdotal I know, but when I left the heat and air industry 7 years ago we were already suffering a shortage of good techs. It’s the same with my brothers in the plumbing jobs. Fewer and fewer people wanting to get their hands dirty means more chance to make money for those that are willing.
I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in August 1991, right smack dab in the middle of a recession. It took some time, but I found a job in January 1992. Was it an awesome job with big bucks and fat bennies? No, but I took what I could get. And if I hadn’t went back to school in August 1992, I would have been promoted.
When I got out of school again in 1995, the economy was better but I lived in a very competitive town. I worked as a temp and did whatever I could until I got a regular full-time job. I stuck with the same company until I moved to CA. Again, it took some time, but I’ve been at my current job for four years now (*knocks on wood*).
Nobody guaranteed me anything, not even when I had killer school loans that took 13 years to pay off. Every single job I got I found through my own efforts. No one helped me. If I can do it, this chick can too. She may have to answer some phones or work freelance or temp for a while. Anything is better than sitting on your butt at home feeling sorry for yourself.
I went to a business school that did promise to “help with your job search after graduation”. In fact, the school didn’t lift a finger.
I would not be surprised that the school in the Bronx made a similar sales pitch and reneged.
70,000 dollars is a lot to spend. If they made a claim that they would find her a job, then it is a breach if they did not.
BTW, I had no intention of suing in my case.
And gas in her car -paid by obama
And her mortgage payment- made by obama.

From CNN:
Just what I want to hire, a C+/B- student with a “solid” attendance record and a proclivity for litigation. It only took her nine years to get the degree, and the best she can manage while going part-time is a 2.7 GPA.
Woo-Hoo where do I sign up?
If you ever have to let her go (I know, a big surprise given her demonstrable level of achievement) you are guaranteed she will sue.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/08/03/new.york.jobless.graduate/index.html
I like your sarcasam, and sadly this sort of stuff occurs in the vocational “colleges” more frequently than most people realize.
Lets see:
She 9 years to get her education.
Me 19 years with 12 of it spent deploying.
Her 2.7 GPA with a bachelors. Me 3.61 GPA with a Bachelors and a minor.
Her No Experience in IT, Me 20 years of healthcare experience.
Yep; she’s a real winner and definately more valuable than our vets graduating from college.

GSP: FIFY
What does one expect her to do with the $70K should she win such a lawsuit? Will she use it to get another degree and then she would be what, 34, 35 and just entering the job market? Then, when she doesn’t get hired and sues AGAIN, will she go back for yet another degree?
BTW, what did she do while taking so long to get her degree? Didn’t she have some temp jobs that might hire her full time now that she has a degree? Has she already “pOOped in her own messkit?”
Get a grip Trina, the world is a harsh place, take a job at ANY level in the business world and prove your worth and advance on your merit, not on your sheepskin! You don’t deserve a corner office and keys to the executive washroom on day one of any job!
Finally, GSP, Keep up the good work… You’re a winner, not a whiner!
Thanks nail49!
Less than two weeks and graduation will be here! Yeah!!!!!
