The smell of desperation: White House unleashes on Internet critics

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 4, 2009 11:00 AM

The White House is using your tax dollars to go after the Drudge Report for linking to the Naked Emperor News video compilation of Obama and other Dems telegraphing how their “health care reforms” will lead to single payer.

Take a whiff of the White House bashing of Internet opponents: This is the smell of desperation.

Their lead attack dog? Former ABC News correspondent Linda Douglass.

Douglass is identified as the communications director for the White House Office of Health Reform.

That’s the office of the interest-conflicted White House health czar, Nancy DeParle, whose industry ties have received little scrutiny as the administration convenes secret meetings with health care execs.

Distraction!

You can chart the time-line here, and note the point at which it became “health insurance reform”. It was recent, and came as a result of focus grouping messages that resonated with voters.

“Here’s the guarantee I make. If you have insurance you like you will be allowed to keep it…”

Just another decepetive twist of words, although not an outright lie. It’s doubtful anybody will have their plan forcibly terminated and made to join the pubilic option at the point of a gun. However, it will be made increasingly difficult for individuals to buy insurance and the mandate that fines them if they don’t will force them onto the public option. Furthermore, more govt. regulations that requires insurance companies to cover every conceivable condition not to mention pre-existing conditions at huge losses will send their premium through the roof, for which they will then be further demonized by the Dems.

Yes, you will be allowed to keep your plan, but only if you or your employer is willing to pay 2 or 3 times what they are paying now. So I’d say this isn’t an outright lie like his promise to not raise taxes on anybody making less than $200,000, which he has already broken and will continue to do so.

    Hi,

Thanks for giving us this link to report some of the malicious activity that is going on across the nation. I think it’s very sad that so many people don’t know the truth and are being force fed propoganda for political gains.

With that in mind, I saw some questionable information on this site: http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/

It seems that the author of this blog is claiming that access to insurance plans and doctors won’t be disrupted by the plan, while failing to mention that a government sponsored program could be detrimental to these private companies. It’s a bit odd as well, because I’ve looked into the background and it seems that this site is trying to claim something called health insurance reform and not healthcare reform. A subtle mistake, I’m sure, but it appears it may be a calculated way of shifting the goal posts so to speak. I don’t think the American people are stupid enough to fall for this tactic, but it should be noted non-the-less.

Thanks so much for looking into this and for providing a link so that we can report our fellow citizens who may oppose the administration’s plan.

    Regards,

The uncut clip, or enough to make it clear that Obama favors a single-payer system, is posted on Drudge. I don’t see how what he says there could be taken out of context. If he favors a single payer system, as he makes quite clear in the video in no uncertain terms, he should just so and stop using weasel words that make it sound like he likes the free market but favors policies that will detroy it.

Not really. The government under ObamaCare will also be setting all the rules under which private companies are permitted to issue coverage. Individuals will not be legally permitted to buy insurance that does not conform to government mandates.

Furthermore, the government “option” will be financed by taxpayers and deficit borrowing, which will enable it to undercut all private insurance… whose current profit margins are less than 4%.

Government isn’t a player. They’re fixing the game.

    Thursday, November 1, 2007, 1:15 p.m.
    Capitol Building Room H-210

Question: More than 80 House Democrats are supporting a single payer, Canadian-style, Medicare for all healthcare system. It’s HR 676. Why don’t you support it?

Nancy Pelosi: I think we have to move forward with comprehensive healthcare–accessible affordable healthcare for all Americans. It is an issue that is so big that we should try to do that in a bipartisan way, put everything on the table to talk about, to see where we go from there.

Question: Why don’t you support single payer?

Pelosi: I’ve always supported single payer.

Just one example, yes but clear and not out of context. A quick search would turn up more such statements by Democrats than could be listed. Obama will favor what he is told to favor, or rather whatever is the rage in the far left at the moment whether the issue is health care, spending, taxes, climate change etc…

This is exactly what will happen. Read the book Freedom-nomics by Dr. John Lott. It is the intelligent answer to that liberal tripe Freakonomics.

Dr. Lott explains that when a government gets into the game, they become the monopoly. The very thing the gov’t frowns upon in the private sector is what the gov’t does when they become a player in any business.

“I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program. I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, spending 14 percent of its Gross National Product on health care cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody. And that’s what Jim is talking about when he says everybody in, nobody out. A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And that’s what I’d like to see.
