Obama summons his army: “This is the moment our movement was built for.”

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 5, 2009 12:40 PM

Hey, no top-down direction here in President Obama’s latest mass e-mailing to his minions. Only thing missing is advice on how to dress like “real” grass-roots activists and instructions on how to snitch on friends and neighbors saying “fishy” things about socialized medicine. Astroturf powers, unite!

This is the moment our movement was built for.

For one month, the fight for health insurance reform leaves the backrooms of Washington, D.C., and returns to communities across America. Throughout August, members of Congress are back home, where the hands they shake and the voices they hear will not belong to lobbyists, but to people like you.

Home is where we’re strongest. We didn’t win last year’s election together at a committee hearing in D.C. We won it on the doorsteps and the phone lines, at the softball games and the town meetings, and in every part of this great country where people gather to talk about what matters most. And if you’re willing to step up once again, that’s exactly where we’re going to win this historic campaign for the guaranteed, affordable health insurance that every American deserves.

There are those who profit from the status quo, or see this debate as a political game, and they will stop at nothing to block reform. They are filling the airwaves and the internet with outrageous falsehoods to scare people into opposing change. And some people, not surprisingly, are getting pretty nervous. So we’ve got to get out there, fight lies with truth, and set the record straight.

That’s why Organizing for America is putting together thousands of events this month where you can reach out to neighbors, show your support, and make certain your members of Congress know that you’re counting on them to act.

But these canvasses, town halls, and gatherings only make a difference if you turn up to knock on doors, share your views, and show your support. So here’s what I need from you:

Can you commit to join at least one event in your community this month?

In politics, there’s a rule that says when you ask people to get involved, always tell them it’ll be easy. Well, let’s be honest here: Passing comprehensive health insurance reform will not be easy. Every President since Harry Truman has talked about it, and the most powerful and experienced lobbyists in Washington stand in the way.

But every day we don’t act, Americans watch their premiums rise three times faster than wages, small businesses and families are pushed towards bankruptcy, and 14,000 people lose their coverage entirely. The cost of inaction is simply too much for the people of this nation to bear.

So yes, fixing this crisis will not be easy. Our opponents will attack us every day for daring to try. It will require time, and hard work, and there will be days when we don’t know if we have anything more to give. But there comes a moment when we all have to choose between doing what’s easy, and doing what’s right.

This is one of those times. And moments like this are what this movement was built for. So, are you ready?

Please commit now to taking at least one action in your community this month to build support for health insurance reform:

http://my.barackobama.com/CommitAugust

Let’s seize this moment and win this historic victory for our economy, our health and our families.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

    OK.

LIE: If Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Hawaii, then he is undoubtedly a “natural born citizen” and Constitutionally eligible to hold the office of President and Commander in Chief.

TRUTH: The United States Supreme Court, in the 1885 case of Minor v Happersett made it clear that the 14th Amendment (by then part of the Constitution) defines citizenship and does not define “natural born citizen“-ship. The Supreme court had doubts that a person in Obama’s situation (born to a foreign father who was never a U.S. Citizen) could be considered a “natural born citizen”. Therefore they had doubts that a person in Obama’s situation could be Constitutionally eligible to be President and Commander in Chief.

The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts.”

    - The United States Supreme Court, in the 1885 case of Minor v Happersett

It is now necessary to confirm the details of Obama’s birth and resolve these doubts.

To “support and defend the Constitution of the United States” and put this issue to rest, two very simple, very reasonable things need to happen:

    1) Congress must personally inspect a certified copy of Obama’s original birth certificate, sent to them under seal directly from the State of Hawaii. (Just as was done with the certification of the Electoral College vote)

    2) Congress must ask the Supreme Court to clarify the meaning of the Constitutional phrase “Natural Born Citizen”, so that it can be clearly seen whether or not Barack Hussein Obama II is Constitutionally eligible to hold the office of President and Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces.

Ignoring this issue will not make it go away. It has only gotten more serious as time has gone by. Every day, members of our military put their lives on the line to support and defend our Constitution.

How any member of Congress overlook their sworn oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States? This is a very serious Constitutional issue, and it must be addressed.

This is the moment our Constitutional movement was built for.

When democrats send out paid union mobs, it’s grassroots community organizing. But when republicans encourage true grassroots participation in the community, it’s a cranky mob organized by immoral lobbyists.

I guess this is another item to add to the political rule book:
    – Only democrats can do Community organizing.
    – Only democrats can use the race card (Thomas vs. Sotomayor.)
    – All blacks are democrats (otherwise, they’re uncle Toms or oreos.)
    – All women are democrats (otherwise, they’re dumb hicks like Palin.)
    – All rich are evil (unless they’re democrats like Soros or Kennedy.)
    – All lobbyists are evil (unless they contribute large sums to democrats.)
    – Republicans must pay taxes (democrats not so much.)
    – Corrupt republicans must resign (corrupt democrats not so much.)

The list goes on and on…

Can we maybe have just one thread without this conspiracy nonsense popping up? I mean really, what are you trying to accomplish?

First of all, if there was anything here that would disqualify Barack from the office I’m positive that the professional, expeienced and extremely well-funded Clinton machine would have found and publicized it early in 2007. You need to come to grips with the fact that Obama was elected and there’s no magic wand you can wave to undo it.

Secondly, even if we grant your premise, nothing will ever come from this. There is no conceiveable scenario whereby Obama is going to be declared “not a natural citizen” at this point and stripped of his office. And even if that did somehow happen all you accompish is to put Joe Biden in the Oval Office.

And if by some miracle Obama was removed from office it would be much, much more damaging to the country than having him serve out his term. Removing him from office would tear the country in half and almost certainly result in violence.

So please, give this stuff a rest. The birth certificate thing is wrong, both on its own merits and on pragmatic grounds. You sound like those people who were still screaming about hanging chads and Bush “stealing” Florida until the very moment he left office. The only thing you’re doing is giving the Left ammunition.

Can we maybe have just one thread without this conspiracy nonsense popping up? I mean really, what are you trying to accomplish?

Would you wake up and realize that the only document produced by the Obama campaign first showed up as a JPEG on Daily Kos along with “Haye I.B. Ahphorgerie” (”Hey! I Be A Forgery!“), and when a hard copy was produced it did not come from the State of Hawaii but rather the Obama Campaign Headquarters in Chicago?

What makes you foolishly trust that document? Why are you against having even a single member of Congress perform their duty and uphold their sworn oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States”?

Not a single member of Congress has inspected an official document regarding Obama’s birth and coming directly from the State of Hawaii. They “outsourced” this responsibility to an unelected, unaccountable, untrustworthy third party that has Annenberg connections (as does Obama).

There is absolutely no reason to accept the document produced by and at the Obama Campaign Headquarters and only inspected by Annenberg Political Fact Check.

There is absolutely no reason not to demdand to see Obama’s original birth certificate directly from the State of Hawaii.

It is not people like me who look foolish, it is people like you. Why do you trust anything that has a chain of custody running through the hands of Obama’s inner circle?

    That is downright foolish.

First of all, if there was anything here that would disqualify Barack from the office I’m positive that the professional, expeienced and extremely well-funded Clinton machine would have found and publicized it early in 2007.

    Two words: Rahm Emanuel

He likely has dirt on the Clintons, and they could not expose dirt on Obama without Rahm exposing dirt on them.

You need to come to grips with the fact that Obama was elected and there’s no magic wand you can wave to undo it.

You need to come to grips with the fact that even birth on U.S. soil does not remove doubt that Obama is not a “natural born citizen” because the only people who are undoubtedly “natural born citizens” are those born on U.S. soil to two U.S. citizen parents. That’s not just my opinion, the United States Supreme Court said so.

Wrong. Treating our Constitution as if it is not important is more damaging to the country than supporting and defending the Constitution and removing a usurper from an office he is illegally occupying. He is not Constitutionally eligible to be sending this nation’s finest men and women into combat.

Removing him from office would tear the country in half and almost certainly result in violence.

    Fear-mongering Democratic Socialist talking points.

It is Obama who is already tearing this country in half. Remove him from office and put the rioters in jail.

The one giving the left ammunition is you. You’re following their talking points. You say “the birth certificate thing is wrong” but you conveniently ignore that this is not just a “birth certificate thing” (although that is part of it because Obama has never released a “birth certificate thing” from the State of Hawaii) I repeat this is not just a “birth certificate thing” it is a “Constitution thing”.

Ignore the Constitution at your own peril.

It’s not the “birthers” who look stupid.

It’s the “anti-birthers” (who foolishly accept the forged COLB and ignore both the Constitution and the Supreme Court) who look stupid.

Yes, I’m correct. You have no issue with Republicans.

It doesn’t really matter where Obama was born.

The courts have already dismissed and/or refused to hear the case. Gaining additional grassroots support won’t necessarily change anything.

I’m sure that most people simply want Hawaii to release everything because they think something damaging will appear. However, I don’t know what mechanism will can force this. Hawaii certainly isn’t going to be pressured into doing it. And Obama certainly isn’t going to be pressured into doing it.

Frankly, I bet Obama is loving the attention this issue is getting. You guys are setting him up for the greatest vindication of all times.

Please call your Senators and tell them that they cannot vote to confirm Sotomayor until they Support and Defend the Constitution of the United States and put to rest the doubts that the Supreme Court itself acknowledged exist about Obama’s Constitutional eligibility to hold the office of President!

I don’t get involved in protests or meetings, but I do live here, and I do keep my eyes open. There is nothing at all fake about the widespread and growing bipartisan opposition in this area to this healthcare bill, even if Miller’s office and other Democrats would like pretend are the handiwork that the same Republican operatives that botched the 2008 elections so badly.

I have confirmed from multiple Republican congressional offices that, despite Democrat attempts to portray American citizens as “Nazi-like” and “a mob” for questioning members of Congress on healthcare, the DNC is coordinating activity to target swing district Republican congressmen in their offices.

Multiple Republican offices have received calls from the Democratic National Committee in their district offices asking for the office hours of the office, when the Congressman is expected to be in the office, etc. Staffers in the offices are confident the data will be compiled by the DNC to send activists to Republicans’ offices to push the healthcare agenda.

In other words — while the Democrats are accusing the Republicans are orchestrating protestors at open townhalls, the Democrats are going to push activists straight into congressional offices to cause scenes fit for the local newscasts.

You are also preaching to the choir in a lot of cases. When our “opponents” read these threads, they probably go ballistic when they see your stuff. It is fodder for them. This POTUS is very secretive, has hidden many important things about his past, and is getting away with it. There will come a time when we WILL find out what that is. Right now, we have a bigger fight on our hands. Let’s concentrate on winning this one.

    Nothing is bigger than that.

Win that fight, and every other card in the Democratic Socialists’ house of cards will fall. Nancy Pelosi will fall because she swore under oath that Obama is eligible under the Constitution to serve as President.

Win this fight and every action since January 20th with Obama’s signature on it is invalid.

And this Supreme Court nomination, which could be one of the most lasting affects of this administration if she is confirmed to a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court, is also invalid.

I appreciate your intention to be helpful, but…

There is no bigger fight. Period.

I’m sorry, RedPill, but I disagree. It is an important issue, BUT, it has been discredited, ridiculed and downplayed so effectively that we basically have to back off…FOR NOW! They have very cleverly hidden this stuff for a long time now and it will be very very hard to dig out. In the meantime, we are losing our country more and more every day. We must consolidate the fight, not give the left more fodder for their ridicule. Keep digging, RedPill…I agree it needs to be resolved. But for now, there is a country to save from socialism…or worse.

It only takes one member of Congress to request to see his original birth certificate from Hawaii.

The Constitution trumps Hawaiian state law. Hawaiian officials cannot stand in the way of a member of Congress supporting and defending the Constitution’s requirement to qualify the President and Vice-President.

…if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified

The Constitution requires that the President and Vice-President be qualified.

Members of Congress have sworn an oath to support and defend the Constitution.

The Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land, and trumps any Hawaiian State law.

it will be very very hard to dig out

No, it will just take a single member of Congress willing to honor their sworn oath of office.
