ACORN Watch: Louisiana investigates

The Pelican Institute for Public Policy reports that the state of Louisiana is investigating ACORN.
It’s about time:
The Louisiana Attorney General has opened an investigation into the community-organizing organization ACORN.
“All we can say is we are investigating,” wrote Tammi Arender, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Buddy Caldwell’s office. “We can’t say much else since it’s open.”
She encouraged anyone with credible information about ACORN to call investigators at (225) 326-6120.
Gov. Bobby Jindal has been under pressure to investigate the nationwide organization, which is based in New Orleans. The chief complaints involve a case of a nearly $1 million embezzlement by the brother of the group’s founder which was never reported to authorities; the lack of accountability for the millions of dollars in taxpayer dollars that ACORN and its related groups have received over several years; and the potential for public money to be used by partisan affiliates of ACORN.
ACORN and its related Project Vote, a nationwide voter-registration drive, have earned the scorn of commentators and critics, who say the effort was a thinly veiled effort to push Democratic candidates and recruit new dues-paying ACORN members. ACORN workers in several states have been arrested in connection with voter-registration fraud, but the organization itself has not been charged with a crime.
Only last year did most of the 51-member governing board of ACORN learn of nearly $1 million in inappropriate charges to an ACORN credit account by Dale Rathke, brother of ACORN founder and then-leader Wade Rathke. Rather than report the incident to authorities, Wade Rathke worked with a small group of ACORN leaders to arrange for a repayment schedule by his brother. After more than $200,000 was repaid, an outside donor stepped in and repaid the balance.
That outside donor was Drummond Pike, far Left founder of the Tides Foundation and one of the money men funding the Astro-trufed Obamacare army.
As I report in my book, it’s all about the coordinated corruption. And as Kansas GOP candidate for secretary of state Kris Kobach put it so succinctly:
“ACORN is a criminal enterprise.”

I hope this announcement came after they raided the offices.
$2000 is chump change to those leeches, considering they’ve got backings from the richest progressives worldwide.
I’ll be satisfied when I hear they’ve disbanded due to lack of commitment. I say we pray for the conviction of obamacorn leaders along with barry hussein; hopefully they’ll *all* end up in jail.
ACORN should be investigated/audited and probably shut down in every state it operates. Project Vote is nothing more than Project Vote Fraud. ACORN has been at least a part of the destruction of our economy with the home loan debacle. And you can rest assured that the census will be a horror under their care. It’s a disgrace that ACORN could ever have gotten this far in screwing things up so badly without being stopped in its tracks long ago by law enforcement agencies.
That should read “ACORN — and ALL of its affiliated groups — are criminal enterprises.”
Between now and 2012, they’ll have undergone a major name change, installed some new “leaders,” etc. We need to make sure they don’t get to pull the big switcheroo. Follow the money.
So … after the many millions of our dollars that has been used for voter fraud, dropped convictions for voter harassment, and untold numbers of criminal violations of federal and state laws … and all they can look forward to is getting fined “$200,000″ for a “missing report” … gimme a break … gotta be more than that coming down the pike or investigating them is a waste of time and money …
Good that LA is finally going to get off the dime and investigate ACORN … better late than never … after all it is right in their back yard …
Every AG in every state should be filing charges and investigating these people …
ACORN needs to be put out of business … and their hands need to be gotten out of the public’s pocket …
Maybe Cold Cash Jefferson will soon get some cellmates.

Is a headline I expect to see soon. A much friendlier regulatory environment for thugs, punks, and thieves.
It’s about time and I thank LA for doing it because it was NEVER going to be looked at by the Feds because they are part of the criminal enterprise!
When our tax dollars are funding ANYTHING the government should be a watchdog but they never are and they wonder why Americans distrust them!

as with every scam, rogue cheddar is right. they will change their name, maybe change their address, start a new charity company, and proceed onwards and upwards. if our ag’s don’t prosecute the people for fraud and money laundering, then this is an ongoing criminal enterprise.
