“I hope Glenn Beck kills himself”

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 6, 2009 11:37 AM

I’m sure we’ll be hearing passionate condemnations of unhinged talker Mike Malloy’s mob threat from Bobby Gibbs and Josh Marshall any second now.

You know, you have your opinion of what you should do in the event of a recession. I generally agree with Obama’s policies, and you feel he should do something else. There is certain data that tends to show that a New Deal-type stimulus is what we need, and there are those who feel that we should just sit back and let the economy work itself out. Most real economists (not conservative think tank employees whose salaries are paid by partisans) feel that the stimulus — or a stimulus — is what the doctor ordered, and that includes extreme deficit hawks like Peter Peterson.

I respect your opinion and Rush Limbaugh’s opinion that you think Obama should be doing things differently. But to say that you want people to lose their jobs and DIE just to prove that your way is the right way is beyond the pale.

Unfortunately, the stimulus pretty much doesn’t exist because so little of it has been spent. Let’s hope it will be over the next year, and jobs and lives will be saved as a result.

However, what has been spent is unquestionably a boon to the economy. For example, federal handouts are now the biggest revenue source for local and state governments, which helps stem the tide of budget cuts (and job losses) all over the country. Here in Georgia there are police and even teacher furloughs nearly everywhere, and without that stimulus cash, it would be even worse.

    What say you?

So, we must support all liberal policies and hope they work, otherwise we are wishing death on people? You could apply this line of thinking to just about any policy you wished.

A solution that seems great in the short term does not mean it will be successful in the long term. Far too many people look for instant gratification or see an uptick in outcome to mean that there will be no long term consequences. On the surface, Social Security seemed like a good idea. I’m sure the first beneficiaries of that thought it was great. How is that going now?

Stimulus spending thus far has not worked and the left’s solution for this is spend more. If this economy pulls out and the recession ends, liberals will assume that stimulus is the direct and only cause and will… spend more. It’s funny how, no matter the outcome, the suggested solution is still to increase the size of federal government and increase spending.

Mike Malloy, as others have pointed out, has been around for over 15 years. He was on Air America and is still broadcast in President Obama’s hometown.

The “assuming he is a real person” is amusing. Are you suggesting that he’s been made up by some conservative conspiracy?

You can argue that Malloy is a nobody, but that’s not an excuse or a justification. Had a conservative talk show host said these things of a liberal pundit, I somehow doubt that you would shrug it off as a “nobody” moment.

Instead, you looked for an equivalency.

You’re completely leaving out of the equation that a person losing their job isn’t a PERMANENT condition. People can and do change jobs/careers because of a fluctuating economy. And losing health insurance coverage makes life difficult, to be sure, but you’re making an assertion that those that LOSE health insurance NEVER regain it somewhere else, e.g., in their new employment? The statistics that are continually trotted out re the “47 million uninsured Americans” admittedly count those who are uninsured even for ONE DAY.

    ILMC & RSS,

Are you in some kind of contest to see who can post the most idiotic comment?

Several years ago I was driving my daughter to a T-ball game when we spotted a “Mean People Suck” bumper sticker. She informed me that saying something sucks is bad (her teacher yelled at some boys in her class about this transgression). I agreed, and then opined that saying someone sucks is a pretty mean thing to say. She got real thoughtful, and then started to giggle.

Posting on a conservative blog that the people there are stupid or bigoted – when you know nothing about them is pretty stupid and bigoted.

Asserting that people without health insurance will die is absurd. My brothers and sisters and I are the first generation in my family to have health insurance. My 83 year old parents were farmers – they never had health insurance (until Medicare). Three of my four grandparents all lived into their 90s (my grandmother had multiple sclerosis and only made it to 76). None of them ever had health insurance.

If people without health insurance all died, wouldn’t there be 47 million dead people every year? (the number of people living in this country that are claimed by liberals to not have health insurance).

I can see posting something idiotic because you did not stop to preview, but to post it, and then try to defend such nonsense is not winning any debating points. You just make the case claimed by many posters here that liberals are not logical (or very smart).

What are you trying to accomplish?

When I look at the racial viewpoints of Obama’s closest “friends” and advisors such as Jeremiah Wright and Ayers, I can’t help but wonder how the jewish population came out in droves to vote democrat–my husband calls them Dumbo-crats. I can’t understand the whining of people who clearly have the ability to have anything they want assuming they want to work for it. It angers me that Obama’s message is to divide us and encourage class envy. I am like CWinNY, I grew up on a farm and my grandparents never had health insurance but they paid their bills and even left a little for their kids when they died. We’ve lost our way when we live to take from others to supply our greed. Now LGM can post about this and blame it on Bush. He’s a pathetic person in all of his “intelligence”

I enjoy reading John Deaux, Miss Cheryl, Sonofdy, etc. wanted to join in with a few of my thoughts. God help us in the days ahead, we’re going to need it.

There is certain data that tends to show that a New Deal-type stimulus is what we need

The only data I need is the outcome of the New Deal and every other socialist non-solution that’s been about: The New Deal only succeeded in slowing down the recovery.

I can’t see that that would EVER be helpful.

“Senate confirms Sotomayor for Supreme Court” – take it on the chin bigots!

Sadly, like in the 2008 election, it was the bigots that won. Sotomayor is herself a raving bigot, and even Obama either lied or was totally misinformed (and the MSM ran with it) in telling us that she was the “first hispanic” to serve on the US Supreme Court.
