Revolt against AARP in Dallas: “Do you work for us or do we work for you?”
Watch the senior citizen “hooligans” and “civic vigilantes” in Dallas question a condescending AARP representative about Obamacare. Dues-paying members are speaking up about the organization’s sellout of its members — and the AARP brass is not happy. Yes, the winds of real hope and change are blowing:

Mass cancellations of membership, with demands for refunds. Hit them in the purse. That’s the only thing that will get their attetion.
Good for these people who want answers from aarp! I wouldn’t belong to this lib group ever. I hope every person there rips up their membership card.
L
Seniors need to band together and sue these liberal organizations, aarp, acorn, seiu, and any one voting to take away rights of americans.
illeal aliens are covered
abortions will be paid for by taxpayers.
but kill granny….sue em’ all
LOL @ “I’m done!” *sniff, sniff*
OMG wasn’t that Snobbish condesending Woman one irritating Stooge???
She just talked down to those folks.. and many of those folks have given more sweat, Blood and tears to this country in 5 minutes of their lives, than that woman could dream of in her whole lifetime.
Those winds are blowing Michelle I can see it and I hear it everyday here in VA. I speak to neighbors who had voted for The One who are just disgusted with their vote now and are ready to extract his followers in Congress in 2010!
That would be Connelly for my particular area and the bottom line on that is he swept in with Obama +2 in a Conservative area he will NOT have that same luck in 2010!
I saw this earlier today…I’m taking my microphone and going home you bunch of old farts…
AARP has stepped in it this time…don’t mess the old folks.
Astroturf Nazi senior citizens in Brooks Brothers. The most dangerous kind.
what md1964 said.
What a condescending woman who is, I am sure, just doing her job. Now shut up, old people, and listen because we know what is best.
I have had my mother and several of her friends to cancel their memberships of AARP and tell them why they’re cancelling! I suggest everyone do the same and when they have enough cancellations then maybe they will get on board with the people they’re suppose to represent!
Somehting odd is happen ing to the Tammy Bruce website (complete shutdown) for the past 4 days that i believe is related to this healthcare battle. does anyone have any details?
Who knows? Maybe if we got off our butts and fought these people from taking over our country, then our grandchildren would call us “The Greatest Generation?”
Post # 13 refers to a letter I just received from the Tammy Bruce website as to why they have been crashed, and she thinks targeted by the Obama administration…not all of it would copy onto here so I managed to get part of the letter (which isn’t that long) onto this post site.
the heck with AARP…join the NRA their discounts are far better…lol
Dopey Woman: “We’re here to listen.”
Dopey woman moments later: “Excuse me but I’d really appreciate it if everybody would keep their comments quiet…”
These AARP reps remind me of the boring, under-qualified schoolteachers we’ve all had that were union goons…
My mom and her sister won’t sign up for AARP, they are 75 and 80. I turned 50 last year and I have been getting AARP stuff, I finally emailed them and TOLD them to take me off their mailing list, I will not join as long as they align themselves with the Democrats. I haven’t gotten anything since(snail mail)
I’m gonna go tell the White House about these elderly wingnut agitators. They’re all definitely fishy and I bet they’re carrying swastikas.
AARP her to listen – FAIL
AARP has been taken over by the secular socialists in much the same way that the Episcopal church has been taken over. Support for both of these organizations is support for the destruction of the American constitutional republic.
Wow, that was great … “Cocoon III: This Time It’s Personal”
I have a close friend whose husband works for AARP – running these sort of meetings. (We are all too young to be members yet.) His official title is under their healthcare arm….needless to say – I have avoided their family for months now – cause I’m so furious at him and what he does. And what he BELIEVES about this Obamacare crap. And he’s ranted on facebook about these “people who don’t know that they really want govt care”. Sigh.
What the aarp person does not understand is, us ‘older citizens’ went to school when we acutally learned something about our Republic and what our founding Fathers gave us. We also learned know how to do math. Things smell ‘fishy’ about bho and our elected and we do not like it.
L
“AARP does not endorse the legislation”
That is a lie. I have received multiple emails from them containing all kinds of misinformation, urging members to support “health care reform” (an obvious reference to Obama’s plan), and not believe the “fear-mongering,” “rumors,” and “the interest groups twisting the truth to stop health reform.” This shilling for the Obama adminstration is blatantly obvious.
My pointed email back to them in objection to this sellout of their members was responded to with a form-letter type list of typical Dem talking points about the need for “health care reform.” The points I made were not even addressed.
AARP is in the tank for Obama and the Dems, their claims to the contrary are total BS.
Obama’s generation needs to remember that grandma and grandpa whipped mommy and daddy’s butts….and they haven’t forgotten how.
…and Happyscrapper would be pleased to give a demo…
And they are clean and articulate too!
Wow! That was amazing to watch. The AARP/Obama spokesperson ripping out the microphone was just utterly symbolic of the democrat approach to this “debate.” Just perfect.
More bang for your buck : )
I love this – the older folks rid the world of the Nazis and the Soviets, built the manufacturing base that made the U.S. great (and which we managed to kill), and grew our food for generations. They’ve done more with less than we could ever dream of. As a result, they don’t take guff from nobody, and smell B.S. a mile away. This is awesome.
this is too funny! i’m taking my microphone and going home! dltdhyitaotwo moron
Is “AARP” the sound made by members when they see what the organization’s leadership is spouting?
Gee, what happens if membership falls too low for AARP to lobby and to make huge donations to the dems? AARP is more concerned with selling insurance than really representing seniors and now the seniors are finally seeing the truth about AARP.
Wow those evil insurance execs are going to end up spending all of their greed-gotten profits paying off these millions of agitators, eh lgm?
It’s sad when we have to consider our own administration as possible perpetrators of this along with terrorist countries like Iran and North Korea who are known for attacking our servers and sites. Look, after O’Joker’s recent comments about striking back at internet dissent, we must consider this as a possibility. It, of course, is happening as vocal dissent is making news at Obama DeathCare Townhalls. I think not a coincidence.
I don’t think Tammy Bruce’s site being crashed along with theDDoS attack on Twitter and ongoing problems on Facebook are an accident, either. The Street Thug in Chief has many weapons at His disposal throug His various arms — think George Soros and his minions among others — and the various groups that have attached themselves to Our Lord and Savior that any one of them could cause Internet havoc to silence dissent.
Remember: Congress wants to give Him the power to control the Internet in the event of a national emergency.
Say “Sieg Heil!” to the nice people. And the Left called Bush Hitler????
Here is an email AARP is sending it’s members…..
Dear ___,
If your inbox is anything like mine, you’re getting a lot of emails about how SCARY health reform is. From allegations about rationing care to wild reports of government-sponsored euthanasia, the rumors just keep getting crazier.
And I’ve had enough. Enough of the fear-mongering. Enough of the myths and unfounded rumors. Enough of the interest groups twisting the truth to stop health reform.
I’m fighting back – and I’m asking for your help!
Below I’ve debunked some of the common myths going around. Will you forward this email to your friends and help get the truth out about reform?
The truth is real reform is at risk because opponents are using scare tactics and slogans to gin up fear and misunderstandings. Don’t let that happen.
Sincerely,
Barry Jackson
AARP Online Advocacy Manager
P.S. Let’s make sure everyone gets the truth. After you’ve forwarded the message below, please share these myths and facts on Facebook if you have an account, or post them on other networking sites. If you’re active on Twitter, please tweet the truth now.
******Delete the text above and forward this message to friends and family ******
Hi,
My inbox has been flooded with emails spreading crazy rumors about health reform so I wanted to share some facts from AARP about what’s really going on. Please join me in forwarding these facts to everyone you know. Print them out and pass them around at your social gatherings and other places where people are discussing the issues of the day.
FACT #1: Medicare will not be ended, and no benefits or services will be cut.
Your services will not be ended, nor will your benefits be cut. AARP’s position on this could not be clearer. And we have sent this message loud and clear to Congress. While the current proposals include savings in Medicare by cutting out fraud, abuse, waste, and inefficiency, we’re standing up and making sure benefits for Medicare recipients are not only fully protected, but are improved.1
FACT #2: No legislation currently in Congress would mandate the rationing of care. Period.
Our staff has read all of the legislation circulating in Congress and there are no provisions in these bills that would ration care for our members. None. If any ever did, we would vigorously fight to stop that legislation.2
FACT #3: There is no provision of any piece of legislation that would promote euthanasia of any kind.
The rumors out there are flat out lies. Right now Medicare does not cover counseling for end-of-life care. The portion of the bill in question would simply provide coverage for optional end-of-life consultations with doctors, so that the patient can be aware of all of the treatment options on the table. It is not mandatory and it has nothing to do with euthanasia.3
FACT #4: We have not endorsed President Obama’s plan.
In fact, we haven’t endorsed any plan. We are supporting reform of our health care system, something that AARP has pushed for many years. We’re working closely with Republican and Democratic members of Congress to lower health care costs and to ensure quality affordable coverage for older Americans – and we want reform legislation passed and signed by the president this year.4
So what is AARP fighting for in health reform?
Stopping insurance companies from charging older Americans unaffordable premiums because of their age.
Ending the practice of excluding people from insurance because of pre-existing conditions.
Holding down health costs and making insurance coverage more affordable for all Americans.
Making prescription drugs more affordable by narrowing the Medicare doughnut hole, bringing generics to market faster, and allowing Medicare to negotiate better drug prices.
Find out more and take action at HealthActionNow.org.
I cannot imagine a sane person continuing to fund AARP
This relic of the past is through
I have been trying to break through the AARP websites to register my displeasure with the national organization, but I can’t find a way to send them an e-mail. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Yer darn tootin’ sonny!! I’d turn that little whippersnapper over my knee and give him the paddeling of his life. I’ll blister his butt good. Now, I know that was violent. So you will need to report me.
“8/5/09
Happy Thursday everyone,
Perhaps this is what the White House meant when they said they’re response to the internet dissent “was only the beginning.”
Twitter has announced they’re under a sustained DOS attack and working to combat it. Something odd is also happening at Facebook.http://status.twitter.com/post/157191978/ongoing-denial-of-service-attack. More here as well: http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article6741630.ece
My site experienced a traffic crash after the Obama Joker news rush, I switched to a better server, but now it appears this morning I am also under a classic attack and my site is down along with Twitter. FYI, as we fight back against the malicious attack, you will receive today’s podcasts via email..”
-From email I received from Tammy Bruce
http://www.aarp.org/aarp/About_AARP/contact_aarp/
I think the most dangerous agitator was the one who required 2 canes to walk. Those are clearly deadly weapons!!!
LOL
It was funny to watch the
white house talking points repeaterAARP rep get all confused when the AARP members went off script. If you’re a member they send you emails (as xler8bmw #37 posted above) that you can respond to. Other than that I’m not sure.
RTater, I have been to that page and still can’t get through. they send you to another site that is only used to tell your own sad medical story and get you to join and contribute. I am not a member but I am old!
http://www.60plus.org is the conservative alternative to AARP.
Dexter Alarius:
My wife and I typed up a very nice letter, demanded a refund and included our cards that were nicely cut up in patterns. Mailed it this very day. Lets see if we receive a refund lol
I’m sure if I complain on that site, it will be added to the other millions of complaints that are about the present system and not about the very liberal slant of the AARP itself. I will not be used
While the socialists are sucking up to Hispanics, and mocking Republicans for not doing the same, they are alienating the baby boomer generation which is pretty much half of the country.
This is fun. You can’t fix stupid!
My Congresscritter did a joint tele-town hall with AARP. I called in and after 15-20 minutes of going on about how health care is broke and the only way it can be fixed is with the government and no comments allowed from the people called in I hung up. Someone called a local radio so this morning and after 35 minuets still no comments before they hung up.
If you’re a member I suggest TERMINATE NOW!
No doubt it’s been decades since those values were taught in our public schools.
And we can already see the leftist strategy to marginalize us “older citizens” as angry mobs out of the mainstream, a small fringe of society. It’s laughable but they’re running with it.
Nancy Pelosi believes that all Obamacare protesters are astroturf and carrying swastikas.
How many of these senior citizens did you see carrying a swastika?
Even if the Austin event mentioned in the blog was true, we have no idea in what context the symbol was used. If it’s like the other shown on the linked editorial (with a big red “No” symbol over it), it’s a different story.
Instead, she paints a picture as if this is a common theme while ironically ignoring just how common this was in her own home district when protesting the war.
How’s that approval rating coming along, Nancy?
After what I’ve seen today in this video and in their email response to my concerns, I am doing exactly that.
Good for u! I am sure there are other ways to get the same benefits you would receive from them
When I turned 50 I started getting solicitations from the AARP to join. I would write in red ink on a piece of paper “I will niot join an organization that honors Harry Bellafonte’ (sp) as their Person of the Year and one that only contribute to democrat campaigns”. I would place the note in their self addressed return envelope and mail it back to them.
It took awhile but they figured it out and I got the satisfaction of wasting some of their money.
I suggest everyone turning 50 do the same.
Oh, not THAT type of terminate…
puts away the .50 cal sniper rifle and wonders away whistling…
Oh, and for everyone wanting to read the bill, here is the link.
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h3200/text
Geez, AARP woman didn’t listen much at her ‘listening session,’ did she? The poor baby, no one wanted to ‘debate’ the issue by letting her control the conversation completely and then agreeing with everything she said. People just don’t want to be bi-partisan any more. I laughed out loud when she took her microphone and left. GAAP does not represent it’s members…or apparently care one iota what they really think.
just sent one back to them telling them I won’t join any organization that supports the democrap socialization of Amerika…sure they’ll like that one..and for some reason they sent it to my ex-wife’s address…hmmmm
I am going to laugh at that all day!!!
On a lower note–that sad twat would have NEVER told me what I could & could not say at a meeting that I paid to attend…
never
Is this the one with the new changes? or the original house bill
Geez, my computer has been wacked all day. Yesterday, I e-mailed Lanny. Wonder if there’s a connection.
I feel for the older folks who sacrificed a lot to make this country great. It’s a shame that their kids and grandkids can’t say the same. I think that if babyboomers and their children had had to live with less like the “greatest generation” we wouldn’t be in the dire straits we are now.
My father, who is in his 70′s, is an AARP member. He’s often complained that it’s done nothing for him and that it’s nothing more than a lobbying group that doesn’t really represent its members. I’ve often wondered why so many retirees have given their hard-earned money to this organization when it gives nothing in return.
As a member of generation X (I’m in my 30′s) I think younger members of society have grown complacent and lazy. They expect everything to come their way. I’ve seen this sentiment not only in the US but in Europe by some of the friends I made while studying in Spain (a big welfare state going broke).
The youth of America don’t feel invested in anything because they’re often given things without either working for them or just expecting them. The biggest mistake that the Greatest Generation made was spoiling their babyboomer children and giving them more than they had. If they had instilled in their kids the hard-work ethic and the values that made America successful in the first half of the 20th century, perhaps there wouldn’t be such a generational disparity now.
Oh and above should be AARP not GAAP. I’ve got my accounting class on the brain.
AARP sells insurance. I assume they participate in the profits from that insurance, yet the guy was standing there saying that insurance profits were not appropriate in some way that I could not understand.
He seemed to say that insurance profits come from not providing medical care to those they insure. If this is so I don’t want any of ARRP’s insurance. I thought they made profits from investing and from good customer service. I wanted to say to the guy that if my insurer denied coverage then I would change insurers. I certainly cain’t change insureres if the Government is the only insurer and it denies me coverage of some critical care.
How domb do these people think we are. They make no sense at all.
Your computer may have been ‘wacked’ by a ‘denial of service’ attack coordinated from somewhere between Maryland and Virginia.
Ain’t it a drag when your credibility and career can be destroyed by something as simple as repeating your own words in public?
Not sure xler8bmw. I’ve been trying to find a copy to read and finally sent an email to a local talk radio show. This is the link they sent back.
If in fact this was a DOS attack from the government they broke the law AGAIN!
I cancelled our AARP membership years ago, when I learned they were just a lobbying group for the left.
AARP is a greedy insurance company. Socialism is partnership between a totalitarian government and privileged businesses. That is why we have so many rich liberals.
I love the latina. She sees the connection between illegal immigration and the rise in health care cost. Republicans are too cowardly to even touch that subject. So you know they didn’t set her up.
Here is the original.
http://tinyurl.com/mqswlo
I turn 50 next year. Old enough to join AARP. I’m sure I’ll get the card in the mail.
I will NOT join this organization. They are nothing more than lobbyists for every left wing cause.
If that woman spoke to my elderly father the way she spoke to these people, I’d box her ears!
when my wife turned 50, we signed up for aarp (discounts don’t you know) but then i started reading their monthly newsletter, and they are nothing but a socialist bunch of jerks. the people really have no idea how how left wing the group is, and it’s members largely look for the discounts. now suddenly a big issue, important to grams and gramps is front and center, and the oldsters are amazed to find aarp is on the side of the socialists instead of on their side. their mad as hell, and they ain’t going to take it anymore.
HA! Stop dissent….take the microphone! Fracking idiot liberal. The only thing missing was her fingers in her ears, as she sang, “la la la la la-a-a!’
I will NEVER join AARP (Allied A-holes Ripping-off Patriots.) The woman speaking for AARP at that meeting was following the ACORN playbook, and don’t you know, she felt she was smarter, and more knowledgable than those “stupid” elders in attendance?
It all reminds me of this. What was once comedy is now political strategy.
Any estimates of what percentage of AARP members quit after this fiasco is over?
Wow. Words fail me. But wow.
I was getting their sign up cards for some time now. Never even thought about signing up – never will.
Mark Tapscott in the Washington Examiner predicted this reaction to AARP’s support of the health care bill last week:
I wonder how Boxer and Pelosi are going to spin this. Gibbs don’t have to worry, he doesn’t answer anything. I’m proud of the old folks, but then I’m no spring chicken either.
xler8bmw, so the link I posted is for the new bill?
The AARP supports a bill that would take hundreds of millions of dollars from Medicare to pay for free health care for illegal aliens. So who do they really represent?
Does anyone know a conservative alternative to AARP?
We get their stuff in the mail all the time. We don’t tell them to stop since we much prefer they keep wasting their money sending their propaganda to us, folks that will NEVER be members.
You don’t need to tell them to stop, but send any business reply envelopes back empty if you want to waste their money. They have to pay for it whethere there is anything in it or not!
That video rocked!
Way to go, Seniors!
The utter contempt of the woman from AARP for the seniors was disgusting. Obviously she’s never heard of respect for her elders….
If the senior lobby gets on board against Obamacare I think we’d have a d@@@ good chance of averting this disaster….
Was that an ACORN operative slipping out early?
Yep, they certainly represent the 50 over crowd, by telling lies. Medicare is set to be cut by $500 million to help pay for this monstrosity. If ‘Bambi follows through on his promise to also completely obliterate the Healthcare Advantage programs, Medicare cut in half is what they’ll end up with.
Anybody know if they’ll be able to raid the trustfund accounts and leave little breadcrumb I.O.U.’s like they have done with Social Security and Medicare?
If anybody talked to me during a meeting that is funded by my membership dues like that moron did to seniors, I’d cut the card up and promptly claim a refund.
After seeing the video, my best guess would be:
hey-bluehairs-STFU@aarp.org
I just performed my patriotic duty and reported this unruly, uninformed, and suspicious mob to Big Brother at
flag@whitehouse.gov
I can’t open it
I remember after my grandfather died, the next year we got a bill from the AARP for him to pay for renewing his membership. For three years they harassed us telling us that we needed to pay for his continuing membership. It was only when we threatened legal action that they finally figured out he was dead and ended his membership.
Thus, the jury is out on whether or not they’ll let anyone actually cancel.
I find it very interesting how Obama’s name is only mentioned once during this entire video while the words “government’ and “politicians” are mentioned numerous times.
Just goes to show how this is starting to cross political lines.
Letter to AARP (aarp.org)
Try this link to communicate with the AARP Socialistas:
http://www.aarp.org/about_aarp/contact/a2003-01-22-membershipfaq.html
AARP has been out of contact with its membership for years. This is just visual proof of the disconnect.
As for Pelosi and Boxer spinning this – it’s not going to happen. With their lapdog press protecting their every vacant headed move they don’t have to even address it.
I am north of Dallas I won’t ever join AARP. Not as long as they are Liberal and not Neutral.
Tonight on Hannity
That link I posted is extremely slow and hard to open. Keep trying, then read it and weep.
ok…
see?
that wasn’t too hard at all.
now somebody explain to congress how to do THAT without using 1107 pages.
