They confiscated the cell phones of other patrons? How can that be legal? If those patrons were there before her arrival, and were given no choice…. Like typical dictators, they just walk in and take over the premises and send SS to watch the kitchen. Nevermind, sounds way more like a mob eatery and the other patrons can just like it or lump it, because I’m guessing no one was allowed to enter or leave after she arrived.

Well, I know one thing. If I was in that restaurant and Ms. Obama walked in, no Secret Service is going to confiscate my cell phone. “Sorry, you got a warrant? No? Well, leave me alone.” It is where I draw the line. And, if I want to leave, when finished with my meal, I will. I suppose they will try to stop me. Again, no law broken, arrest me. ah Kadena…BC street bars got to love em…I worked for the MAC unit running their mainframe computer and played music for 3 years on the side…fun dates at some of the Marine Corps clubs…The CB club dates were a rolyal pain – 5 hour gigs…they didn’t buy one beer, it was a couple of sixpacks at a time..
I really miss Laura Bush. She did so much to bring class back to the White House as the First Lady of our nation after the Hildabeast.
tiredofit08 and Dexter Alarius seems like we traveled in the same circles. My tours at Kadena AB were spent air refueling the SR-71 Blackbird in the area and RAF Mildenhall. Never forget the day running down gate two street with my co-pilot when we came across a Habu snake (for you folks at home that is what we called a two stepper or about how long you lived if one bit you). We both went vertical and accelerated until we realized it had been run over by a car. I also spent a lot of time at Elf-1 flying CAP missions protecting reflagged Kuwait oil tankers in the mid-80s. Yep some real pleasure spots.
I have never in my life seen a face as sour as hers….oops….not since Shrillary was in the White House.

What’s the reasoning behind confiscating personal property? Citizens might like to eat unmolested, thank you. If the fine folks came in to our fave lunch dive, would we be allowed to leave rather than forking over our private property? Would we be forced to remain *and* hand them over? Would we be detained until they left?
I don’t get it. Don’t even try the “protecting the children” argument. How are you protecting children by infringing on citizens’ rights? The commoners are just having a meal for Pete’s sake. Not cool.
I’m going to assume this behavior is not typical… or never actually happened in the first place. Don’t tell me otherwise as I’ve got my fingers in my ears.

OK, lgm, I’ll play.
Based on the direction we’re headed, the first story isn’t even true, let alone important. Let’s ask the more than 200,000 people who lost their job in July if the economy is looking up. The nice government men are cooking the books on the unemployment figure again. They do it every month based on the index they report. Newsflash, lgm, unemployment is not decreasing no matter what the nice government men and the state-run media are spinning. So that 100+ point upturn on the DOW today was based on a complete pile of bee ess.
The second story isn’t about Mrs. Zero having a cheeseburger. It’s about her insisting that average people enjoying lunch were forced to give up their cellphones like the peasants she thinks they are while she stuffed her piehole. If she’s so afraid of being photographed, why doesn’t she confine herself to dining in the hoity-toity upscale places where she would blend in and leave us alone? If I had to chooze between keeping my cell phone and having lunch in the same room as Mrs. Zero, it’s no contest. Cellphone. And I only ever turn mine on when I want to make a call. That would be about 3 times a week.
So, my vote goes to story # 2. That was easy!!!!!
We get economic reports every single month, and every single month they are either “better than expected” or “worse than expected,” based on which party is in power.
The second story, however, is the first time in my 31 years that I’ve seen a report of people having property confiscated for simply being in the same place as a politician’s wife.
We live in uncertain and exciting times.
The economy is looking up? You think the economy is going to get better under the weight of what is coming out of congress, these days? All I see is a possible spike upward, if it’s true. Expect to see a big downturn as the government takes over the economy and taxes everyone blind. So what is more important? Cheeseburger takeover. One thing hasn’t been mentioned about this “cash for clunkers” program. Wait until next year, when the personal property taxes hit the people. Next time Ms. O needs a cheeseburger, an agent should go out and get it. She doesn’t need to take over a place and ruin everyone else’s lunch.

You think that is bad, as I was mowing my yard on Kadena I had a Habu slither away from the dryer vent on the outside of the house…you talk about high tailing it out of the area…I didn’t let my kids in the yard for weeks until I had CE check the area…My neighbor next door to me worked on the SR on Kadena (can’t remember his name but he got me a photo of it signed by some of the crew).. could that have been you on it?? I’ve got some really nice photos of it getting ready for take-off. I even got a tour and a ride in the truck that went out with it…boy was that a thrill…
heard on the radio last night the Richmond (VA) school board is entertaining a proposal to put BO’s portrait in all school rooms. If so I’m going to ask why this wasn’t proposed for the previous administration and if passed will it continue for any other president

And speaking of “personality,” I’m STILL (and always will be) dumbfounded as to what exactly it is that people see in these two (and no, I DON’T need to have my eyes checked). As far as I’m concerned, it’s been a LONG time since I’ve seen two people who were so far beneath my contempt.

You are a moron. The economy is tanking as we speak. Stock market activity isn’t effecting it, any more than it effected it when Bush was running the show. Home sales are a result of the crushing losses in the value of property, and its devastating effects upon millions of people (much of which was because of Democrat-led initiatives to GIVE homes to people who couldn’t afford them).
lgm, the economy will be in an utter panic throughout this presidency, that I PROMISE you. You can’t invigorate and revive an economy while you are beating it to death, and that is what Obama is doing. He is taking and dampening all aspects of wealth creation, and is destroying the value of the dollar. Only a dim-witted ideology-driven imbecile would do what Obama is doing right now, unless he knew that by doing it he was ensuring power for himself and his party.
And that’s the only thing that matters to you and your ilk, your PARTY. What about MY party? I’m an AMERICAN. I am a CITIZEN of the United States, and party memberships are a putrid infestation in this country. I don’t give a DAMN about the parties. They can all rot as far as I’m concerned. You and your parties can go to hell.
I’m amazed that the government SS (oh, the Secret Service, not that other SS), can confiscate personal property of American citizens in a public place simply because her highness makes an unannounced visit! If it were a scheduled visit where I have to pass security to enter, then it’s my choice and I’ll give up the cell phone, etc. But this is my space being invaded – Please, SS – Don’t Tread On Me!

I can see it now, SS walks up to me and asks if i have a cell phone, I tell them it’s none of their dang business whether I have a cell phone. If they persist I ask them for a warrant. If they refuse to supply a warrant I get arrested, I sue.
