“Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 10, 2009 09:13 AM

Hooligans. Mobsters. Political terrorists. Brownshirts.

Now, Democrats are calling vocal opponents of Obamacare unpatriotic: “Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”

Hey, Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, tell it to the dissent-stiflers at the SEIU.

I invoke Hillary Clinton from 2003:

HRC: “I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.”

Ignatius R, if the word “Nazi” doesn’t come from “National Socialism,” where does it come from?

Not being snarky, just that every History Channel special on the matter says it does. If they are in fact wrong, I’d like to know for myself so that I don’t make that mistake.

The link was to a right-wing blogger who is advocating violence. Please read it again.

We saw it when lgm posted the same link on a previous thread.

What we are challenging is that that one tweet is enough for the liberal blogs, like the one you linked, to harp about aggressive right-wingers while at the same time turning a blind eye to what happened to Kenneth Gladney at the hands of SEIU thugs.

SHoward, mea culpa. Rush is right, and I am wrong.

I know a bit about the rise of Nazism but did not believe that there was a single German word for national socialism, which there is. Obviously, I don’t know as much about the linguistic history of all of this as I thought.

    Rush rules.

So why were two SEIU thugs on the ground/falling to the ground at the start of the video? I’m not seeing a lot of “proof” that Gladney (or others) didn’t start the pushing and shoving.

Nor have we seen any proof that the “Scott Oskay” isn’t a plant.

I did. Most hits are liberal blogs referring to his comments. His twitter page has since been removed.

The individuals going to protest at town halls have no idea who Scott Oskay is, nor care. To suggest that his foolish tweet(s) (whether he truly is a “libertarian” or not) influences all those protesters is preposterous. There has been nothing to substantiate the claim. If it weren’t for TPM bemoaning his twitter, it’s likely he would have gone completely unnoticed (by both sides).

If you wish to be “afraid” of those scary protesters because of this one guy’s twitter page, be my guest, but let’s not pretend that he’s the leader of some movement.

I know he’s not a leader of a movement. He seems to be more libertarian than republican.

Just as it typically takes one rational person with a gun to stop him. What’s your point?

No one here that I have read has endorsed a violent response. That conservative posters here did not respond to your ‘give me assurances’ post is more likely a sign that they did not take you seriously and not evidence that your safety is threatened.

I don’t know the conceal/carry laws in Dallas. If it’s legal, then by all means do what you think you must to ensure your safety.

I didn’t think I was crazy, but since I can’t claim any kind of special knowledge on the subject, I would have been interested to learn either way if the word Nazi had a different origin.

I see jim m is back stoking the fire with a popsickle stick. He’s doing the same thing Begala did once on O’reilly. Bill O had made a humorous off handed comment about some lefty being in bed with Fidel Castro, and Begala was making a serious attempt to get some kind of libel action going against O’reilly. It would have been thrown out in 2 seconds if anyone actually brought a suit, but Begala was trying to make everyone believe that it was the norm for O’reilly to make false accusations about the left’s associations.

jim m is doing the same thing here. He is taking a bit piece from a nobody and trying to make it look like our entire side is on the fringe.

jim m is just mad becaus ehe still caon’t figure out how to pump up his pink Daisy bb rifle.

    Republican doesn’t equal conservative.

Jim M, you’re like my child who keeps asking “why”. I give her an answer and she says “why”. I think she caught on early that her repeated asking of a stupid question was entertaining…to herself.

Just go to the meeting or not. Take a gun or not. Don’t project your insanity to people who have an honest debate about what Obama is doing. You have stated that you are for “parts of Obamacare”. You have a right to your opinion and if you’re too scared to go to a meeting, get on the phone. I assume you’re not afraid of your phone? Why are you here? It’s obviously to entertain yourself.

Agreed, to a large degree. Discourse requires at least as much listening as speaking. Drowning out ther opposition with chants and slogans is a Code Pink tactic. We should be above that.

    Hey Hey, One, Two, Three!
    Gosh, I strongly disagree!

Sorry, but I am an American. I have no intention whatever of going into the long night as a well-mannered corpse. Our natural masters are trying to force health care based on the politics of race upon us. I sure hope people grasp how really, really serious that is.

    I. Do. Not. Care. What. Code. Pink. Does.

It is irrelevant. (Interesting that Jonah Goldberg over at NRO is using the same smear). This is about our lives, our freedoms. We will not win this by going hat in hand with bowed head to our lords mumbling “Oh please, massa, please don’t do this.”
They are using force, lies, and intimidation.
We are doing nothing remotely comparable.
We are giving them all the civility they deserve and more.
    To hell with them.
Do we want to win or not? Do we want to live or not?

    Swede, et al:
We are in a fight for our very lives, and the lives of our loved ones. There can be only one rule: Win, at any cost. It does us no good to lose the fight but pat ourselves on the back and say “at least we didn’t stoop to their level” because the simple fact of the matter is, we still lose, and losing this fight is simply not an option. If I’m gonna lose, I’m gonna do every dang thing I can and pull out ALL the stops. I’m going down fighting. If someone gets in my face and tries to hurt me or my family, he had better be wearing body armor because he’s gonna get himself gutshot for his trouble.

When the truth is allowed to be voiced it is usually a disaster for the liberals.

Remember Rick Santelli, Joe the Plumber, MEP Daniel Hannan, and Leah from NH!

Solution -prevent that at all costs, stack the deck than accuse the other side of cheating, lock the doors after the right people(union pawns) are seated at your table, than complain of the noise outside!

What is a real town hall supposed to be?
One man- one vote, each in turn taking a turn to speak, and everyone respectfully listening. Great ideas emerged in those settings and forums in the past. That is the tradition from our earliest settler days, but the left co-oped the town hall to push their liberal agendas as they have the PTA and every other civic group they can!

Reality- is the “perception of reality” in the political world, and we “Tea Baggers” just are not following the script!

Obama has already failed in his quest to leave the impression that people really wanted this reform.

None of his bussed-in, staged demonstrations were left unchallenged, and likewise for these staged town halls!

Any Bluedog voting for this reform must realize the cat is out of the bag, people do not want it. Should they vote for it anyways, as many foolishly plan to do, their political careers are history.

Unfortunately, our country may be too.

Obama has overreached, and is taking the country down with him.
