Democrats now taking refuge at SEIU offices
My syndicated column today recaps the thug history of the SEIU while Democrats continue to attack peaceful town hall protesters and Tea Party activists as “Brown Shirts.”
You’ll love this: Via Moe Lane, Democrat lawmakers are now running for cover and taking refuge inside SEIU offices:
Tim Bishop (D, NY-01) is having something called a “health care reform rally” on Thursday, at (of all things) SEIU’s Hicksville NY offices (1199 Duffy Ave, starts at 1 PM). This is otherwise known as “over twenty miles outside the borders of NY-01.” Bishop is of course one of the first Democrats holding down a Red district (NY-01 is a R+0) to discover that his constituents are paying attention to his votes: he rather famously canceled his future in-district meetings. Presumably he assumes that his constituents won’t drive twenty miles to complain.
When you can’t stand the heat, hide behind the Purple Shirts.

Fools!
Every one of these clowns that pull this stunt should be recalled.
Stealth care!
Memo to Long Islanders: Vote this bum out next year.
This tool has a Washington office.
Washington is a short drive (well, by Texas standards) from New York.
Plan your own town hall…at Bishop’s Washington office. Hell, hire a bus.
Interesting. I used the Bing search engine to look up on how to recall a congressman and only came up with a story on Cao. Cao is a Republican who voted against the stimulus and there is a group of Louisiana ministers who are trying to get him recalled because of his “lack of support for obama.” I expected to find more activity on behalf of conservatives trying to recall all these socialists, but such activity doesn’t come up on the search engines. Are we just a bunch of yaking couch potatoes? Recall seems like a viable option, but I don’t see conservatives engaging in this.
Twenty miles outside his district? It does seen much of our political class does disdain the riff raff who voted them in and pay the bills. Hopefully some of his constituents-aka “riff raff”- will drive twenty miles to complain.
What cowards! Though I am not the least bit surprised. I think their view is that they are descending from on high to preach their brilliance to the great unwashed. When they discovered the peasants have pitchforks they retreat to the safety of the Keep.
That is until they find themselves still on the hot seat despite the cover provided by the Purple Shirts.
Of course the protest will have to be held outside as it is private property, not to mention legitimate worries of what the SEIU might do on their own turf.

I do not know either vinny, I know it worked in CA – that ended up what it is today but still, the recall worked.
You don’t find it because it can’t be done! If you would read the Constitution (Art 1 Sec 5 reads in part:)
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two-thirds, expel a Member.
Yep, taking the high moral ground I see.
Individual states have recall provisions.
There is no federal provision for recalling a CongressCoward.
Corruptocrats of a feather, flock together..
Just the idea of people with petitions gathering signatures for a recall, even if it would not work, would still send a message.
I suggested a long time ago a petition of no confidence.
I also suggested a recall petition to remind these egomaniacs who works for who (or is it whom?). I also suggest at the VERY FIRST mention of racism to immediately (and loudly) call them COWARDS for hiding behind a word istead of facing the issue at hand. EVERY TIME!
Vinny, I’ve wondered the same thing. Why hasn’t some conservative group started a recall petition?
Give no quarter. Take them to task or watch it all fall apart. I hear a lot of ordinary people saying they have not participated in rallies, townhalls or debates until now. Let the sleeping majority awaken.
A consolidated target is an easy target.
Keep the pressure up. Make all of them run for protection. Let them know that they have gone too far and the citizens of this free country won’t submit to their plans of a socialist/marxist nation. You can see the future if their ideas become law, in Britain. It’s a disaster there, with terrible medical care and a big brother government monitoring all resident moves, involving itself in all aspects of their lives. I don’t know whether I want to visit it anymore.
When elected legislators must “bunker in” with union thugs then you know this poor sick Republic is in deep trouble.
It reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons when Homer said he would hide in closet and hope that everything comes out ok rather than an exam. I’m wondering if these congressmen are doing something similar.
This is a fine brave example a leader in Congress should set for our brave soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen. If the going gets tough—-RUN, don’t walk to the nearest exit. He should be branded a coward and banned from Congress.
Solidarity Question of The Day:
If Tea Party protesters picket the building will the union members cross the picket lines to enter?
Cowardice, thy name is Phlegm ‘n Crap.
I told my Pelosi Puppet Congressman a while back what I thought of his stance on Cap and Trade, Cash for Clunkers, TARP, Stimulus, etc.
I then told him since he was not listening, I was no longer writing him. Instead I would spend my time supporting his replacement, whoever that might be.
I have a dream.
No one remains in Washington except Obama, Pelosi and a sea of conservatives.
and these jerks in washington (like my senator mccaskill ) wonders where all this rude behavior and angst is coming from. WASHINTON D.C. HAS PASSED LAWS AND REGULATIONS WHICH MAKE THE POLITBURO VERY COMFORTABLE, BUT SCREW AMERICANS FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. THEN THEY HAVE THE ARROGANCE TO GIVE US THE “LET THEM EAT CAKE” QUIPS WHICH IN AN EARLIER TIME RESULTED IN A REVOLUTION AND NUMEROUS LOSS OF HEADS. SENATOR SPECTER AND SENATOR MCCASKILL, THE VILLAGERS ARE LIGHTING TORCHES, AND SOON THEY WILL BE MARCHING ON WASHINGTON. LISTEN TO THEM WHILE THEY ARE MERELY YELLING THEIR DISGUST AT YOU.
With the increasing danger to the congressional Dems, would it be asking too much for Cuba to offer them political asylum? That way they could to have their beloved national health care, the Cuban commies would have some actual supporters within their country and we would be rid of them once and for all. Win-win for everybody
These folks are fixin’ to draw back a bloody stub…

Agreed. It definitely appears we have gone past the tipping point and things are only going to get worse, likely much worse. The masks on the Democrats and their allies has been slipping for some time. Now the masks and the gloves are off. It had to happen eventually. And it is a good thing that it has. No more pretense.

A good idea you folks have been running up to, but haven’t hit yet…
Sponsor IN YOUR STATE, legislation for recall of Representatives and Senators in Congress.
That will do two things…at least…it sends a clear message that you’re mad as hell and not taking it anymore, AND it might work to get your state a recall provision.
Make sure you really want what you’re asking for, however…
Didn’t Hillary in 1993 head to church basements to hold her bus tour healthcare conferences when it all went bad?
So let’s go to their offices and ask our questions.
Does he plan to bus in school children to use as human shields? That seems to be the m.o. the past couple of days. More puppies too might help.
How do we boycott SEIU shops when their website doesn’t specifically mention which businesses and nonprofits support them?
So we get accused of busing in non-district people, but they get to run to other districts.
Upside down.
Holding the meeeting at the Union offices is an ambush. This is drawing conservatives into the stronghold of the enemies of America. If people go to this meeting, they’d better go cautious and aware, because the Union has the high ground on their own land and they *want* violence. Make no mistake. The purple shirts are there to harass and intimidate, but there *will* be a number of them looking for any excuse, no matter how small, to assault someone physically.
But it provides the conservative a target rich environment.
Scaredy cat face your bosses.
“Let Them Eat Prosciutto:,

Did you read the story on Yahoo! News where Arlen Specter claims that the people protesting the Obamacare boondoggle “are not representative of America.”
I find the irony in that statement amazing. A left-wing Republican abandons the party and people who elected him and becomes a Democrat. He shills for a bill that will ultimately reduce the liberty of his constituents while exempting himself from the provisions of the bill. And then he claims “those people” who object to his self-serving actions “are not representative of America.”
It is patently obvious that Arlen Specter is NOT representative of America. It is patently obvious that he has NO IDEA what most Americans want. Even when they stand right in front of him and LOUDLY tell him.
Why in the world is Specter so intent upon destroying the liberty of his constituents? Why is he so insistent on poking them in the eye? Why is he so insistent on enslaving future generations of America?
Congress has single digit approval ratings. And he still thinks we are not representative of “Americans.”
The audacity of arrogance and stupidity.
Why dont they come on down to the VFW hall for protection ?
heh
If an SEIU person crosses a picket line in the forest, can you count on someone hearing the sound of one hand clapping?
I don’t understand how Tim Bishop can be so dogmatically in favor of whatever he’s promoting. I doubt he’s read the house bill, so it’s unlikely he knows what he’s talking about. P.T. Barnam-Obama has no plan per se, nor does the senate. So what is Bishop so interested in promoting or defending?
Why doesn’t he come, listen, take questions, answer as best he can, and promise to looking into provisions his constituents are concerned about? The whole situation just seems crazy and dishonest.
The issue is clearly not the specifics of this bill. The specifics of this bill should make a rational man or woman run home to fetch their “reset button” described in the 2nd amendment to the constitution.
The issue is control over “workers.” I am a CITIZEN of this nation, I am not a “worker.” “Workers” are who the people Communists enslaved by the hundreds of millions over the past century.
The elitists like Obama, and his moronic minions like Specter and Bishop, hope they can roll us one more time and get this passed to increase their control over us and our children.
Funny, how leftists always used to demand that the government get out of our bedrooms and bodies. They sure don’t seem to mind the government intruding into our bodies at this point…
These politicians are hoping that the electorate will have the usual short memory. It’s still about 15 months to mid term elections. I pray that the attitude of the people last until then.
Remember these elitist, left wing libturds, un-Amricans next Nov. That is always the trouble, people forgive and forget, that is exactly what they hope you do…FORGET!
2010 maybe our last chance to save our country.
MM wastes everyone’s time playing Where’s Waldo with Democratic Congressmen trying to find some venue, any venue, for a discussion of health care not disrupted by out enraged shouting.

where have you been? your boy cut them a deal to get them on board. No price competition!!
To every elected official who is now ducking for cover – You did this to yourselves!!!!
None of you were put in office to stifle debate and pass legislation approved by your party when the people opposed it. You were not elected to stuff legislation with unrelated pork or to hide mandates which wouldn’t pass on their own merit. Our current recession was made worse by stupid policies made to level the playing field. America wasn’t built on a level playing field. It was build by individuals who worked and achieved great things in spite of adversity. The “gimmie” crowd will always see injustice. Why is it just to take from those who achieved to give it to those who won’t even try? This model will never be fair or just to anyone.
Stop this terrible waste of your time.
Get on an effing plane…today…for France.
Stay there.

That’s exactly right. And they’ve already created violence at prior town hall events. It is the very nature of Communist Agitators (a.k.a “Community Organizers”), and it is nothing new.
Note that the Second International (an organization of socialist and labour parties from 20 countries) chose May 1st as “May Day” to commemorate the 1886 Haymarket affair.
Note that during the Clinton administration, the “Haymarket Martyrs’ Monument” became a “U.S. National Historic Landmark”.
Note that the Communist Party USA was founded in Chicago.

We see “fairness” as equality of opportunity, and understand that those who work more and contribute more deserve to have more.
They see “fairness” as equality of results, and if results are unequal then that is “unfair”. They think they are doing a good thing by plaing Robin Hood (Robbing Hoodlum) and taking from the rich to give to the poor. They don’t realize that Socialism only leads to everyone being equally poor.
The fundamental difference between “us” and “them” is we see “fairness” completely differently.
“Social Justice” is nothing more than Socialism.
And remember that during the Clinton-Obama debate, when asked why he would raise capital gains taxes when that has been proven to actually reduce tax revenue, Obama’s answer was that it was about “fairness”.
He is a Socialist/Communist at heart, and has never been anything else.

Is that a yes or a no? Do you believe in price competition, or should drug companies be protected from it?
Incredible, this is a new low in political cowardice. Chicken is as chicken does. This guy looks a one-termer in the making. Only one problem: he’ll still get a pension at our expense! GRRR!
The Democrat healthcare initialtive has NOTHING to do with healthcare. It has everything to do with gaining full control of the United States economy and the behavior of its citizens.
The issue here is not healthcare, but individual freedom, including the freedom to keep ourselves healthy and live.
The seniors understand this, fully. The under 50 crowd needs to get with the program and understand this is a socialist coup de tat.
THE ISSUE IS NOT THE DETAILS OF THE PLAN, BUT ITS UNDERLYING PRINCIPLES.
fify fify foofoo
Wow. You’ve shown a new moronic low, lgm. Can’t you even comprehend what you read?????
Medicare and Medicaid, just like Social Security, are already bankrupt. How much more bankrupt must these misguided government disasters become before we start doing something about the facts of financial disaster?
How many other such government fiascoes will leftists demand before everyone realizes these programs never work?
That is what is wasting time. We need to get the government OUT of these things and let the market deal with it. Notice that the problems have come largely in the last two decades as government has become more involved and offered more services to more people for “free.”
There is no “free” lunch. There is no “free” medical care. Somebody, somewhere, sometime will pay the bill. The idiots in the government just hope they can push that date off until they are out of office. Pretty obviously, that won’t work much longer.
I’m still hoping to see torches and pitchforks, tar and feathers.
We tease the French for surrendering in WW2, but they whipped out the guillotines when their government went astray.
So far, dems are livid because they actually have to bother to explain their health care treachery at townhalls. They haven’t seen unreasonable or unruly…yet.
I know some of us feel strongly about the abuses of power that are going on in Washington, DC now. But these abuses are not new. They are more outrageous than before but even the idiotic schemes of the GOP over the previous 6 years were outrageous.
Talking of revolution is nonsense. The forces that revolution would unleash are unimaginable. Look at every revolution in history for examples of what we and our kids would face it it should come to that. It isn’t pretty and it wouldn’t end soon.
The answer is to throw all the bums out and elect true conservatives to Congress. The overwhelming majority of the GOP are NOT conservatives and they proved this between 2000 and 2006. They are simply less aggressively statist than the Democrats. That is not the solution to restoring our freedoms.
But we don’t need to engage in senseless hyperbole when it comes to revolution. For the sake of our kids and grandchildren I pray it never comes to that.
As you know, I agree with your statements here.
But as you also know, there are other tools that we have, which we have not effectively used, but which we know to be powerful and peaceful.
Revolutions are not always destructive and violent. We have both recent and historical examples. They are never cheap…nor should they be.
We could elect a 100% conservative House and Senate, and we would not have addressed the changes that need to be effected in law, bureaucracy, and rule. It is CONCEIVABLE that such a body of truly convicted conservatives could make the changes that have to be made, but it is extremely unlikely.
Those changes will have to come from us. They will require we become…and remain…engaged, active, and committed.
Because:
a) They are the real constituents.
b) They want a friendly, supportive audience.
c) They want the muscle there to protect them from the elderly mobsters.
d) All of the above.
The answer is “d”.
This is motivated by fear. Fear of being outed. Fear of being demonized. Fear of being called out for the liars they are. Fear of losing their power to control the purse-strings of the nation. Fear of losing their jobs.
Attention: THEY HAVE REASON TO FEAR THOSE THEY HAVE DUPED…THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. These monsters of mayhem will be getting their just desserts, and will have to sleep in the beds they made for themselves.
As the old sayings go;
“What goes around….”
“Let sleeping dogs, lie.”
“You reap what you sow.”
“Payback’s a ….!!”
“….. you and the horse you rode in on!”
right_on, it’s the ‘bunker mentality’ to which all despotic types resort.
It depends on the revolution, and the parties behind it.
Change, by it’s nature, is destructive. Real change cannot be enabled when that which is to be replaced, is allowed to stand intact. Otherwise, it is simply an amendment or alteration.
Destruction does not have to be violent, however. Some things can be destroyed simply by dismantling and made inoperative. Disassembly only becomes violent when conditions are present that resist momentum.
IMHO
spaceycakes
You are right. I don’t believe any of us become defensive, or take a defensive posture when we do something good, and right. We don’t “go to the mattresses” when we turn a good deed.
It is those who know they’ve done bad who become the most defensive. It’s human nature. They are scared of losing not only power, but face. Like all despotic entities, face and power are more important than truth and justice.
Theirs is true a lack of responsibility, and accountability.
I think we agree, and I think you know I was referring to “destruction” in the negative context that goes with the comments War made regarding revolution.
I believe in destruction wholeheartedly, in the context of destroying what is dangerous, wrong, etc. I am, for instance, a total fan of the “creative destruction” of market capitalism (as most here know). I want inefficient, non-competitive businesses to be subjected to the market forces that either prod them to success, or destroy them in favor of more vigorous successors.
I devoutly want the fascist collective that we call the Federal government to be destroyed, and replaced with a Constitutional federalist system as our charter of government mandates. I do not believe that has to be done via violence, any more than I believe that violence is a necessary…or desirable…harbinger of change in market economics.
Rags
We agree! I was just expounding…

That answer only works if the elections are honest.
What are we doing right now to stop election fraud?
What are we doing right now to ensure that only U.S. Citizens vote?
What are we doing right now to prevent the fraud that happened in this last election (like college students voting in key swing states like Ohio, when they didn’t even live there)?
What are we doing right now to ensure that dead people aren’t allowed to mysteriously vote in an election.
What are we doing right now to stop the ACORN criminal enterprise?
We can’t “throw all the bums out and elect true conservatives” if the elections are stolen by Communist thugs.
Peaceful change only happens when the elections are not rigged. I also hope we can resolve our differences peacefully but I am getting sick and tired of having the do-nothings vote themselves free stuff at my expense. If and when the tipping point comes I certainly will not be sticking daisies into rifle barrels.
Black Americans got the right to vote when they had 100% rigged elections to face.
