What’s the SEIU up to now?; Another Democrat calls Obamacare protesters “political terrorists”
The Purple Shirts are hiring new musclemen to build an “organizing department.”
Watch out (hat tip: Crabby Con):
WAVE: Apply Now
YES! I want to help lead the strongest movement of working families in America.
Individuals interested in employment with SEIU’s organizing department should complete this application form. Please fill out all the fields. Applications without a full resume and cover letter will not be considered for this program.

Meantime, another Democrat lawmaker, Rep. Baron Hill of Indiana, is smearing town hall protesters as “political terrorists” — using the same language the SEIU’s Dennis Rivera used in his conference call with the purple mob last week.
The GOP wants an apology.
Don’t hold your breath. They’re just going to double down.

If I recall there was a mafia group known as the Purple Gang during the heyday of organized crime. Now there’s a new Purple Gang, I prefer the organized crime mobsters. At least they had SOME ethics. And they didn’t take taxpayers’ money either.
In Obamaland you must have a union card to “organize”; otherwise, you’re just part of an unruly mob.
That was in Detroit smuggling booze across the river from Canada.
Civilian National Security Force?
Thanks Jeff. I thought they were connected to Detroit but wasn’t sure.
Also in Jailhouse Rock by Elvis.
The only thing that Baron Hill needs to be politically terrified of is losing his sorry a$$ job.
I’m sure he meant to call them political freedom fighters. The T-word must have slipped out by accident because democrats never use that word to refer to anyone else.
Applied for the job under the title “Nazi Thug”
Using my throw away email address of course.
I guess anything will pass as a resume these days…
I have some soiled loo paper–will that work?
Depends. How many squares?
Oh yeah, “union organizers”. I work in San Francisco. SEIU here has lots of “union organizers”. They spend most of their time harrassing businesses that refuse to deal with SEIU. One of their favorite tactics is when trying to unionize hotel workers, SEIU send their “organizers”, i.e. goons, to stand on the sidewalk outside the hotel with drums, metal pots, and bullhorns to wake up the hotel guests at 5 a.m. I work for government here. I am not a member of the union but California law requires me to pay an “agency fee” to SEIU to the tune of $1,200 per year. Yeah, I just looooove SEIU.
It’s becoming increasingly obvious, all these congressional clunkers care about is their government job ruling.
Are the workers on Nancy Pelosis’ plantation SEIU members?
What else could one expect from a leftist jerk like him. Only a fool would call political dissent by loyal, older Americans terrorism. The left has no shame or sense and will say and do anything to further their slimy causes.
Baron Hill should be careful. He lives in a very purple district.
With all the intelligence of the Apple Dumpling Gang.
John Deaux–are you saying that if my arse were fatter, I could, ahem, ‘pad’ my resume?
Rep. Baron Hill reveals himself as a “Democratic Socialist Communist”, not a “Democrat”.
These people want to label us as terrorists and then use the Patriot Act against us.
We are already in a state of war, and the domestic enemies of our constitution currently hold the power in both the Legislative and Executive branches of our government. They have major influence in the Judicial branch as well.
Here’s some loo paper for you, spaceycakes.
TooMuchTime–I see it’s already ‘soiled’.
When I see SEIU “organizers” the image that comes to mind is Manuel Noriega’s “Dignity Battalions” that were roaming the streets of Panama City right before we had to go in there and clean them and their “Maximum Leader” out.
The other image that comes to mind is how the SA got started back in the early 1930s.
Thugs, any which way you slice it.
verogolfer, yes. The Purple Gang was called that because of their penchant for beating their opponents to within an inch of their life. One method they liked was to put on football cleats and pretend you’re bubble wrap.
Hill is not my rep, but I’m contacting him right now…..
SDillard – You are forced to pay into a union that you don’t belong to?!? How in the heck is THAT legal?!? Oh, yeah, Californication….you are getting shafted….
spaceycakes, I’m going to have to get some of that for my next party.
Reminds me of when my older brother pasted a picture of a purse-lipped Nixon into a toilet bowl. Maybe I should do that with The B.O.
sdillard, my nephew saw the effects of this one day. He was entering a hotel during the strike in SF and one of the hotel patrons (an african american) called from his window to have them be quiet. The fine, unbiased, inclusive, democrat, union workers responded, “Shut up, ni99er.”
Real nice.
I believe most business people are conservative, not all, but most. To counter SEIU thug tactics simply tell the management you refuse to frequent hotels who use SEIU workers because they employ extortion. The consumer has the ultimate vote on unions. Time for them to go Dodo.
Throwing a chair out the window might quiet them some, don’tcha think?

If the government is going to ration care based on “eligibility requirements” like age, race, gender, sexual preference, criminal background, twinkie consumption, or BMI – it better figure how to tell the difference between multiple people named John Smith.
IndyRich: California is a “closed shop” state. If a union gets in, you don’t have to join but you must pay shakedown money in the form of “agency fees”. I get about one-third of this money back every year. That’s the part that SEIU says is used for “political activie”. They must refund that part to us. However, you must contact the union every year and request it via a letter. They used to try to tell us that you could only contact them during a five-day window in November. That was illegal and we told them so. Some of us threatened a lawsuit, so they backed down.
SEIU is the most thuggish bunch I’ve ever seen. Almost one-third of my co-workers refuse to join. The public workers in the suburban county where I live actually de-certified SEIU! It was awesome.
When an SEIU janitor earns more than an AIA architect in salary and benefits, then our toilets will look like palaces, our buildings will look like toilets, and America will truly be in the toilet bowl.
Any.Day.Now.
The GOP better start getting us some real candidates. If we squander this opportunity in 2010, we deserve the commie government we get.

Liberals Literally Buying Support
One of the more frustrating refrains used by liberals looking to denigrate the popular outrage against ObamaCare is to dismiss the protests as “Astroturf” or the “Brooks Brothers Brigade.” Both suggest that opposition to socialized healthcare has been artificial or bought and paid for, that it’s not a genuine grassroots uprising, but “manufactured anger,” as the White House press secretary recently put it. Everybody knows that the Left has a lock on popular opinion, right? After all, Obama won the election, so you angry mobsters just need to sit down and stop talking!
The charge is patently false. In fact, the exact opposite is true. The Left has a history of using “rent-a-mobs” like ACORN’s “muscle for money” program. Now there is more proof that liberals are literally having to buy support for ObamaCare. Sunday, the RedState blog posted links to Craig’s List ads looking to hire activists to promote ObamaCare for $11-16 per hour. Meanwhile, Rich Lowry of the National Review writes that the drug industry has cut a deal with the Obama White House and will spend $150 million this summer on ads promoting ObamaCare. And we know the labor unions are spending millions on ads and turning out their supporters too.
With Big Labor and Big Business in bed with Big Government, it’s amazing this bill has been slowed down at all. But who is looking out for average Americans? You are! You are not being fooled by the double-talk and slick rhetoric. You know Big Government’s track record of wasteful spending and inefficient bureaucracy. And you don’t want it getting in the way of the healthcare you and your family need.
Nice thought but it will not work. The workers choose to be unionized, not management or the customers. And once a union is in it is almost impossible for the workers to get the union out.
CBS Evening News just now chipped in with a report painting conservatives as potential terrorists. According to CBS and — guess who? — the Southern Poverty Law Center rightwing militias motivated by their anger at having a black president are on the upsurge. Of course, we had the mandatory video of masked militiamen (patriots) training with their automatic weapons.
Not that I disagree that there is anger out here. But I don’t think many people give a hoot what color this president is. I think people are upset because he is an anti-American socialist and is handing the country over to such leftist thugs as SEIU, ACORN, and the New Black Panther Party, and it is hard to have a fair political fight about these things with the entire MSM shilling for the president and his far-left agenda and tactics.
(I wish they had given some information on how to contact these groups.)
Does anyone watch the perky Katie Couric?
Gangster Government hires new muscle. The punks must be gearing up for next year’s census.
Is this what BHO meant when he mentioned job creation? How does standing on the corner in a purple shirt contribute to the GDP? Their shirts should read “GIMMIE SQUAD”.
I have recently learned of the employees of a medium-sized corporation voting to decertify its membership in….wait for it….the SEIU. The union put up an unbelievably tough, if not unexpected, scrappy and ugly fight. They pulled every trick in the book and made up some new ones, to no avail.
So be not discouraged: David killed Goliath with a slingshot and a stone, after all. Steady as she goes, with righteousness at hand, will carry the day.
I do. It’s an ugly job but somebody needs to do it. (And since I decline to feed the MSM beast by paying for cable, I don’t have a lot of choices. FOX, of course, has a few good moments but not enough, anymore, to justify the cable bill just for them.)
st john’s hospital ( the place they took the flag seller who was attacked by the seiu goons in st louis) decertified from the seiu a few years ago. they bullied and lied their way in, then the people saw the truth, and said dltdhyitaotwo. but california seems incapable of getting rid of any of it’s hemmorhoids.

Apparently, Democrats don’t read Camille Paglia. It is time for Democrats, as with Republicans, to ignore their respective party leaders. Especially the House members who need to run in local elections every two years. Power is acquired by fighting for the interests of those who elected you, not helping the Pelocchios, Obamas, McCains, Steeles, Grahams and others who are waging war against voters.
Talk to Sarah. She might help you raise the money the party leaders won’t give you. She may also give you credibility with your voters on the important issues.
Go Sarah!!!
The southern poverty law center (lower case intentional) is a tool used by the liberal left (I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama contacted them personally). They started this propoganda crap back in the 90s and it worked for them. They got assault rifles banned. Don’t let it happen again. The anger has nothing to do with the color of that man’s skin and anyone who says otherwise is a liar! They are simply trying to use anything at their disposal (race in this case) as a means to an end.
I read that article she wrote about Pelosi. I don’t generally care for Paglia but she was spot on in that.
MA is no right to work state by any means. I was forced to join SEIU then MTA. No choice, but lots of regret.
The true and hilarious irony is that MTA backed every Democrat down the line in the last election, and they still can’t get their contracts fulfilled. Tax ‘em all Deval and the legislature just ignores them. Why? Because the union backs them continually and unquestioningly. So why do the Dems have to do anything for them except give them the same lipservice every election?
What a coincidence! Couric had a story about the rise of the militia groups, with the usual finger pointing at right wingers, a review of recent events involving skin heads shooting people, and the requisite appearance of one of southern poverty “law”‘s mouthpieces blaming it on the racism that came about because of “the election of the first African American president.”
Naturally, it has to be his color and not his socialist policies that make people fear that he is going to have us “liberated” like the Chinese “liberated” the Tibetans.
It appears the Demorats call others who speak out terrorists, but if you are a large purple shirt wearing fool with a megaphone, it is OK to make some noise.
Does she have a job to go to, or is she living on my hard earned tax money the government took from me?
Historical Perspective:
The Hessians were hired mercenaries who were there for money. The Patriots were there because they wanted freedom.
Let them come.
The reason I cite Paglia from time to time is because I want to respect opinions I don’t necessarily share and Paglia is practices the virtues of honest debate in an open society as it should be practiced. She has a formidable intellect of the first order, is intellectually honest, is deeply rooted in the best traditions of classic liberal Western civilization, has an unwavering commitment to the facts, doesn’t try to win arguments with cute twists and is fearless in attacking hypocrisy. She consistently “gets it”. We should have more such people on our side.
That Paglia, a lesbian libertarian Democrat, is so openly dismayed at the sophomorically catastrophic performance of her team should be a serious wake up call to the Dems. They are in great peril with even their most loyal followers. The ship has run aground and they are in denial.
The problem we have on both sides of the partisan divide is a strong tendency to disregard the facts or cherry-pick those facts that further our cause. It is counterproductive.
It is impossible to respect each others’ opinions if we can’t first agree on the facts. A well-stated argument based on indisputable facts is much more effective than the most passionate arguments based on rhetoric and distortions.
Truth resonates with those we seek to persuade. Paglia speaks the truth, even when we disagree on opinion. That distinction is what makes us civilized.
It often seems like Oscar Wilde was right when he observed that “America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.”
Having read her article today, I wrote Ms. Paglia, identified myself as a conservative, and expressed my respect for her intellectual honesty and ability to discuss a divisive issue in a substative, civil manner.
I totally agree with you.

How many of these terrorists showed up with bullhorns like the purple shirts have in the picture above?? answer: none
Pasadena Phil,
Oscar Wilde said ~that~?! Wow. Mark him down as another outrageous queer that I am warming up to. (Of course, I always did admire the flamer for landing at the port of New York and telling the customs agent that he had “nothing to declare but [his] intelligence.”)
I salute your remarks on Paglia. She is definitely not for the echo chamber crowd that wants to hear only things that support our point-of-view; and, needless to say, I am passionately at odds with where she ultimately comes down on a lot of things. But what a trip going along with her as she gets there. The woman is brilliant and rips away the BS without fear or favor. And it is great when she takes apart frauds on the left…it is such a target-rich environment.
Flyoverman,
Nod to you, as well, re: Ms. Paglia.
Absolutely!
It was unusual for me to mention the despicable SPLC without pausing to go into its sordid history. If anyone passes here who does not know a lot about them, google them along with Harpers, which did a devastating investigative piece on them some years back. Harpers basically said that SPLC founder and major buttboy, Morris Deeds, is a rapacious fraud who has made himself a pile of money out of his righteous posturing. When you are on the left and Harper’s Magazine goes after you like this, you must truly have a problem.
What upsets me most about the SPLC is how they work local television with their news releases. Time and time again I hear my local airheads doing “news” stories that are really just propaganda packages fed to them by the SPLC. The local TV airheads are not really dedicated libs themselves, they are just ambitious “communications majors,” who go thoughtlessly along with this crap. It does a lot of damage.
Gee, must be going around because that sounds just like Al Gore.
Every time I see those purple shirts, I start thinking about some of the creative chastisements from alt.barney.die.die.die!
Gosh…that takes me back, SDN. Is the Usenet still out there? Maybe we could start an alt.obama…
The dumba$$ SEIU useful idiots don’t realize that they are defeating their own purpose by supporting Obamacare.
The biggest recruiting tool a union has is the promise of employer provided medical insurance. When everyone has government provided insurance, the unions will not be able to recruit new members, but will lose membership.
Why would anyone pay union dies for something they can get for the price of increased taxes, that they are forced to pay?
Oh rats;dues,not dies.
Think this is bad, just wait until Uncle Obama gets his civilian milita in place.
Well, we’ll just have to have our own “civilian militia.”
With all these seiu thugs wearing purple, it looks like I am going to have put away my purple Phoenix Suns Jerseies and scrubs away for a while.
GSP
A terrorist could be defined as one who uses violence and intimidation to get their way, even if it goes against the prevailing opinion of the majority. Sounds like the SEIU to me!
