Town hall time for Obama and ‘the mob’

By Doug Powers  •  August 14, 2009 02:54 PM

President Obama is in Belgrade, MT for a health care town hall. The event was billed as “first come, first served,” so we’ll see exactly how early those union reps got out of bed this morning (and if they slept in, there’s always the side door).

Will Obama re-visit his US Post Office gaffe in an attempt to redeem himself from that fit of honesty he had the other day? Will the “spontaneous” event be more carefully staged than a Saturn V rocket? Will the uncoached child of a nonpartisan Obama supporter give everybody an update on the mean signs outside? Will the SEIU be there purely for security reasons — like the Hells Angels at Altamont? Will Nancy Pelosi play “Where’s Waldo, Third Reich Edition” and desperately try to spot anybody with a swastika in the crowd? Will Brooks Brothers have a vending booth on site? How many times will Obama promise that the government isn’t gonna kill your grandma? Will the president stop for an Obama burger at Ted’s before leaving town? We’ll find out soon.

If you have the stomach for this sort of thing so close to a weekend, you can watch the town hall live starting at about 3 p.m. eastern here.

Update: Are those real people sitting behind Obama at the podium, or did somebody just Photoshop in these guys?

Hackle raiser so far:

Obama insists he won’t raise middle-class taxes, but takes on “people who say, I don’t care how much money somebody makes, they shouldn’t have to pay higher taxes.” He continues: “We’ve got to get over this notion that you can have something for nothing.”

    Doug,

On Fox News, a few minutes ago, just before the “Town Hall” began, we were informed that admission was 70% “lottery,” to the public, 30% admission for Democrat Party Law Makers.

If that is true, then admission is not first come, first served, but allegedly “random” admission after people were selected for admission by a lottery system.

Problem: I watched the beginning of the Town Hall, live. I heard strong applause. In fact, right now, just before Obama finished his “Town Hall” speech, the people appear to be unanimously applauding him, loudly, vigorously.

I do not believe for a moment that the audience is really randomly selected via a lottery system, unless they stacked the deck so that Obama supporters were the main people given the opportunity to be selected by the Lottery System.”

    We shall see.

    Doug,

At this time this “Town Hall” appears to be a dog and pony show, all smoke and mirrors, a set up, or, as Michelle Malkin refers to it, “Kabuki Theater.”

If this ISN’T a staged event, in which they engineered a sympathetic, supportive audience, I will be surprised.

    Obama is now “answering questions.”

Your statement is actually realistic and based on direct experience that is evidenced in revealed broadcasts in which there have been plants, both during the Election Campaign, and also in these “Town Hall” meetings and other events in which Obama, or other Democrats, were “answering” plants who gave scripted questions, or else soft ball, sympathetic questions.

In other words, your suspicions and concerns are well grounded in reality, and have already been proven to be true numerous times.

Barack Obama’s town hall in the Bozeman, Montana area is not as ‘bold’ of a trip into the Wild West as described by Politico’s Carole E. Lee this morning.

Bozeman, Montana is a college town with many resident yuppies and is a home for multi-millionaires looking to buy their own piece of the West.

Although the event is in the Bozeman suburb of Belgrade, a short drive takes you to the popular Big Sky Ski Resort or to the Yellowstone Club, a posh invitation-only playground for millionares. Although it’s since gone bankrupt, at one time it cost a minimum of $250,000 to join, plus the cost of a $5 million to $35 million mountainside home.

Billionaire Ted Turner owns hundreds of thousands of acres in the area and his local buffalo burger joint has already created their $10 Obama burger in anticipation of our burger loving president’s visit. KEEP READING HERE.

There are so many real answers to the questions that the left often throw as worst case scenarios.

For example, if you are injured in a car accident who will pay for your injuries?

If you are not the at fault party, then the other persons coverage is for you. But on top of that there is a feature of your own coverage that is called med pay, which is for just such an event.

Although this never seemed to be much of a worry to the left when we are discussing illegal aliens friving and wrecking in our country.

Cost, ok what exactly does it cost to go to a doctor. How much, indeed. Most doctors I know when you are paying cash charge very little. I pay cash for my dermotologist visits. I went last month. He looked at me everywhere for suspicious moles etc, wrote 2 perscriptions and laughed about how we had been doing since I last saw him about 10 months ago. T

    “rambler,”

    It is sad.

The so-called “Rich” is a term that is related to the “Moving the goal post” tactic.

Those who make that statement about “The Rich” do so as a technique for demonizing a faceless segment of the population, and they do not clearly define who the “Rich” is.

Nevertheless, the top 1% of all earners pay more than their “fair share” of all taxes.

The top 5% approaches the 1/4 of all taxes portion.

The top 15% pay the lion’s share of taxes, while lowest 20% paid NOT taxes.

So Obama and his worshippers and acolytes use word smithing to create a fictitious, nameless, faceless entity to demonize and to hate, one which will magically pay for everyone else.

In some tables, the so-called “middl class” rate that Obama mentions – 1/4 million dollars, or $250,000 per year, IS considered “The Rich.”

Obama DID lie about the economy during Bush’s presidency. Through most of Bush’s presidency the economy was the best it had been in decades, with among the lowest unemployment rates since records were kept.

He so easily gets away with creating straw dogs, tossing red herrings into the mix, and so forth, sicking the dogs on his created red meat to keep them off the trail of HIS presidency and HIS (Obama’s) arrogance, failed causes, and government dominance.

Not that Obama is president for a few months, I have seen that he is not good for the USA, the constitution, the economy, and so much more.

Add in all the payments you’ve made for your insurance coverage or taxes you paid to medicare, etc. Part of the problem with going to the doctor today and having procedures done is you have no idea what it really cost…..

    Har.

Tell that to the welfare recipients – including those during the campaign who vowed YOU’D pay for their gas and mortgages, Obama – and those who demand the “RICH” give up so THEY don’t have to do more.

And, more to the point, isn’t the promise of socialized medicine really something for “nothing”?

I just can’t punish myself by watching these fake town halls. Did they cage the opposition groups like they did at the Denver DNC Convention?

Those who make that statement about “The Rich” do so as a technique for demonizing a faceless segment of the population, and they do not clearly define who the “Rich” is.

It’s the old “create an enemy” con game that power-hungry people, throughout history, have always used in order to control people. One thing that needs to be mentioned is that the “rich” are the ones who invest the most, and control businesses. Obama wants us to punish those who succeed in this country; those who attain the “American dream”. The middle class and the poor will pay for this, through increased prices and a sluggish economy. Useful idiots think that the benefits will be cost-free to them. They are so wrong. The con game has to end. Watch businesses move out of the country. Ireland, for example, lowered its corporate tax rate, way down, and business is booming there. At any rate, if congress isn’t changed in 2010, watch the middle class get blasted with taxes.

Actually, I don’t have health insurance and I go to an office visit for $40. With my regular, 2x per year blood work, that’s about $500/year.

If I paid for insurance, it would be $600/MO plus co-pays on all labs. ($7340/year)

And, without insurance, chiropractor costs $35 per visit, with no maximum number of visits per year.

Good Lord, what a buffoon! The something-for-nothing “notion” is the only game in town with the “community organizing”/welfare/ACORN/illegal alien crowd. You know…Obama’s “base.”

Anyone else here heard the latest story of OPM [other people's money] addiction? Apparently, New York state recently doled out $140 million in taxpayer and Soros-donated funds to welfare recipients for these fine folks to purchase back-to-school supplies for their children. According to news reports, a large amount of this money was spent on cigarettes, beer, electronics at Wal-Mart, etc. They gave these people cash, and what a shock! The cash recipients misused the funds…just like with the Hurricane Katrina debit card debacle. Libs have no learning curve.

The question I would ask the president is this

“Mr President, having watched town halls from various areas of America. I have heard one resounding theme from the lawmakers. There is not a bill written and no one can say how it will work or how much it will cost. With that fact known, “Why are you here?” Thank you”

Obama stated in the recent Town Halls that people are being dishonest in claiming that he, and congresspersons, were elected so they could kill grandma’, or pull the plug on gradma’.

He is being dishonest, not those who are concerned.

If there is government management of Health Care and if there is a lower level of life quality assigned to grandma’, then grandma’ won’t get treatment, she will get hospice care, maybe, and maybe end-of-life counseling, then she will die and save the government money, or she might be helped along towards saving the government health care system money.

There is nothing dishonest about that, for it is a possible plan of those who want to push through some kind of government run health care plan.

Meanwhile, why can’t the public be intelligent and wise enough to see through Obama’s and the Democrats’ distortions regarding their claim that money to pay for this extremely costly “bill” will come from cutting waste?

I don’t see anyone cutting waste.

    Right on!

Obama and his claques have not first cut the waste. They are merely claiming that they will.

    I’m with you!

I say, before you do anything else, fulfill the claim you have made, cut the waste!

They are all talk, no action. Only empty promises.
