You are correct but I enjoy breaking one off in LGM. Especially when his blind devotion to the American Soviet shows so brilliantly.

It depends on what is being called “death panel”. For some it’s experts making policy about what procedures to allow, and for whom. Those exist already and will continue to exist.</blockquote>

Jeebus - do you just make crap up as you go along? Where the HELL do you come up with your ridiculous assertion above? The last time I had a heart attack, the ER doctors asked my wife specifically if I had a health care proxy on file at the hospital or if she had a copy with her, or they were prepared to do "whatever it takes" to help me survive.

Does that sound to you like "experts making policy about what procedures to allow, and for whom."?

The thought of imbeciles like you actually responsible for teaching our youth is truly a shocking thing.

CiE - just consider the source of your quote before wasting your time on a correction. With lgm you'd be at it all day. How much free time do you have?

I don't usually agree with Newt Gingrich lately, but during a question/answer period at the recent YAF convention he said something that made sense to me. A young lady asked what people who were fed up with their so-called "representatives" could do to effect a real change in DC. Newts answer was simply <strong>"Get involved yourself. Run for office, starting at the local level and work up. If you are old enough to hold a particular office and you're unhappy with the incumbant ... run against him/her"</strong>

A simple answer that too many of us fail to consider because - basically - most of us have to work a real job to support ourselves and/or a family. Plus it costs money, and the chances of the old guard GOP committee-men coughing up a few bucks to help seems to be a lost cause. But hey - this is what THEY do, isn't it? They start with local PTA's and school boards, then run for local town or city offices and up from there. So why can't we? Why DON'T we?

If we don't try to effectuate change ourselves - do we have the right to complain about the manner in which our opponents on the left go about ruining our country?

LGM:
<blockquote>doesn’t happen in western Europe or Canada, where health care already has been reformed.</blockquote>

Healthcare wasn't "reformed" in Europe or Canada. It was created after Europe was destroyed financially and physically and Canada was financially. In European Countries, it is still legal to purchase private insurance and, in most, other than Britain, once a person earns a certain amount of income, mandatory. Under this bill, this option will not be available in the USA. I think you, like the majority of Liberals, should have to live in a system of socialized medicine before you are allowed to have it at home. Assuming you are semi-intelligent, you would realize very quickly what a mistake it is.

Britain's healthcare system is derided all over Western Europe as a complete failure (even by liberal proponents of socialized medicine). One of the reasons Britain refuses to completely fall in with EU mandates on healthcare is that they would be forced to adopt a Continental style system that is far superior to the one they have now. However, it would cost so much that it would be highly damaging to the British economy (which, after decades of Labour rule, is again teetering on the brink).

I listen to BBC radio every day and they wheel out some British guy who had to fly to America to get a procedure done he would have had to wait years for in the UK. BBC is a little less anti-American than Pravda so, if even they are saying we are better, you can take it to the bank.

The real truth is that when Europeans who can afford it need a procedure done, they fly to the USA. Then, for recovery and long term care, they return to Europe where it costs them nothing but other people's taxes. Wealthy Americans do not fly to Europe for procedures. Ask yourself why.

As an aside: Since Blue Lips has ben elected, the State Run Media no longer mentions the "Homeless" so I guess we don't have to worry about medical care for them, do we? Hey, here's an idea, How about we contract with Canada to give Medical care to all of our Urban Outdoorsmen for a year? I bet it's cheaper to utilize the Canadian system using Indian made knock off drugs and the few Canadian Doctors who haven't immigrated to the USA than it is to treat them under current Federal Mandates!

<strong> Salt</strong> said (#89):

<blockquote>You seem to switch between denying the existence of such panels to claiming they already exist.</blockquote>

It depends on what is being called "death panel". For some it's experts making policy about what procedures to allow, and for whom. Those exist already and will continue to exist.

Palin's picture of a sick person appearing before a "death board", that's not in any of the proposals and doesn't happen in western Europe or Canada, where health care already has been reformed.

For others, "death board" refers to end of life councilors who help people draw up living wills. This is not a happy situation, but even in a Republican utopia, people would get there eventually.

I am not worried that this will turn into government pressure for people to kill themselves. If it should happen even once, there would be such an outcry ...
