ACORN Watch: What happens in Vegas…
Another former ACORN worker is about to spill the beans. Via the Las Vegas Sun:
The attorney general’s office turned up the heat Monday on a national organization at the heart of a voter registration fraud investigation.
Christopher Edwards, 33, the former Las Vegas field director for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, pleaded guilty to two gross misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit the crime of compensation for registration of voters.
As part of a plea agreement, Edwards will testify against the other two defendants in the case — ACORN and its former regional director, Amy Busefink.
The anti-poverty organization has local chapters in 100 cities across the country and national offices in New Orleans, New York and Washington.
State investigators consider Edwards the mastermind of an illegal incentive program at the local ACORN office that, with the approval of Busefink and national ACORN officials, encouraged the collection of fraudulent voter registration forms during the 2008 campaign season.
The bonus plan was called “Blackjack.”
You can bet that Edwards’ testimony will reverberate at ACORN offices across the country:
In his plea agreement, however, Edwards said that from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, 2008, he unlawfully conspired with ACORN and Busefink to create a local bonus incentive program, known as “Blackjack,” giving ACORN canvassers an additional $5 for turning in 21 or more registration cards per shift. ACORN allegedly required its workers to submit at least 20 voter registration forms a day to keep their jobs.
It is illegal in Nevada to attach incentives to gathering registration forms because it encourages canvassers to submit fraudulent forms.
When the indictments were announced in May, Cortez Masto said that by structuring the compensation around a quota system, “ACORN facilitated voter registration fraud in the state.”
About the same time in Pittsburgh, a half-dozen ACORN workers were charged with violating a similar Pennsylvania law prohibiting quotas and other incentives in voter registration drives.
That case was put on hold last month after the American Civil Liberties Union there filed suit on behalf of ACORN challenging the constitutionality of the state law.
More on the ACLU teaming up with ACORN to throw out Pennsylvania’s voter law from Doug Ross.

Michelle, when do you sleep? I wish I had your energy. Thanks for fighting the good fight and exposing the corruption of this administration. It’s amazing how much his supporters don’t know about him but are willing to follow him over the cliff like lemmings. I’ve referenced your website several times during discussions. It’s like a one-stop shopping location for facts to fight liberalism and corruption. Thanks.
I hope Christopher Edwards makes it to the trail! Thank God he found the courage to stand up testify the truth.
Just linked over to Doug Ross, it will be interesting to see what our Pennsylvania state courts do to protect we the people. Will they cave or stand firm?
Courage Zorro?
A plea deal is not courageous.
“Courage to stand up for the truth”? Nuts. Edwards is looking out for his own ass, the Feds cut a deal with him in return for either less jail time or probation. Courage had nothing to do with it.
It’s either courage or foolhardiness when you cross the Chicago mob.
Michelle…I pray for you every day. The true courage is coming from you and the others who are speaking truth to power. An acorn slug is not courageous, just a weasel who got caught. I do hope for his safety, however, as we need the turncoats. Every day, I become more outraged over what this corrupt administration is doing to our country. How dare they!! I pray for the day that every one of these creeps are led away in cuffs.
The best part is that when prosecutions continue, all of these ACORN hacks will start assembling little “insurance packages” that they can use to buy their immunity.
Unless, of course, AG Holder just arbitrarily dismisses the cases…
Meanwhile, off topic…I just heard on Fox & Friends that the Cash for Clunkers program is once again OUT OF MONEY, and in fact, has gone over budget. And YET, apparently only 2% of the 3 billion has been paid out so far. Say what??? Many dealers are saying they have stopped the program because they are going broke waiting for their reimbursements. Meanwhile, back in DC, the reason given for the delays is “bureacracy and paperwork problems”. Oh.my.gosh!! At the same time they are trying to ram government-run health care down our throats. Throw these bums out…NOW!!! This can’t be accidental. No one can be that stupid…can they???
Happy, they are B.S. Beyond Stupid
They can’t fix a car….
Grandma is T/O/A/S/T/
The Democrat Party is a criminal enterprise.
There is definite truth in that!
Momma used to say, “Actions speak louder than words”
Now the State of Nevada has to be careful Edwards does not have the odd accident or illness.
This SHOULD be a Federal investigation but as with the New Black Panther Party case we know how that goes.
With “time for payback whitey” Eric Holder at Justice the next four years look grim at best. Big Al Thompson of Chicago-the Best Mayor Money Could Buy- taught his students well.
They will kill “My Mother The Car”!
Cost savings don’t you know.
Courage? There is no honor among thieves
At least the “transparency” that Obama promised is finally coming to fruition. But this isn’t the “transparency” he had in mind! I too wonder if these “whistleblowers” will somehow “change their minds” or disappear. Now, if the corrupt MSM will sign on to some of the journalistic integrity that FOX has, maybe we will have a chance to save our country. In addition to seeing dozens of the thugs in DC in cuffs, I also envision Matt Lauer, Chris Matthews, et al being exposed for the lying traitors they are. Time to rally at the headquarters of the MSM.
Oh no, Cheddar! Not my mother the car!! They killed Kenny, and now my mother the car? Where will it end??
By the way, I mentioned this before, but it is worth repeating…they are NOT going to pull the plug on grandma. That is just plain silly. They will not allow her to be plugged in to begin with!
drip, drip, drip and the full flow will only be realized once the House in retaken in 2010. The first thing on the agenda for that year should be an investigation of the government monies given to ACORN and it nebulas 200+ aka’s!

“The Pirate Code is not really a set of rules, its more like guidelines.”
Barbossa
Can ONE corrupt government administration completely destroy not only the current citizens of a once-GREAT country, but also future generations not yet born? YES.THEY.CAN. I think the first thing on the agenda in 2010 should be to start impeachment proceedings on Obama. And investigations into all the cover-ups by Holder. Oh, where to start??? There is so much wrong here! The ability to multi-task will be essential for those we select to serve in 2010.
He may just disappear Hoffa style.
Can we echo JC’s comment enough?:
The Democrat Party is a criminal enterprise.
I am sure we can expect to hear of death threats against Mr. Edwards any time now by his former colleagues and friends.
Based on all of the “good” ACORN does promoting “Social Justice” perhaps the Dear leader should have a conference call with religious leaders and tell them those who accuse ACORN of wrong doing are “bearing false witness” with their misinformation about this morally responsible organization.
After listening to Obama’s comments on his religious leaders conference call my attitude has become “Fix bayonets.”
Gloves are off; no reason for manners; no quarter asked and none given.
. . . .and the ACLU is going to contest the law on constitutional grounds that voter fraud is constitutional?
Bizarre.
That’s rich. LOL.
They take, get their BMWs, buy Hennessey, have 3 or 4 credit cards maxed out on Versace crap, sunglasses, Kanye West CDs, houses in foreclosure, parties for their peeps, and tell us it’s for the ‘poverty-stricken’ crowd that can’t speak for themselves.
And call me an elitist.
aclu and acorn, two corrupt criminal organizations supported by taxpayer money, ain’t life grand. it’s a shame that taxpayers are forced to be the life line for septic tank residue like these organizations.
No, the ACLU is arguing that paying people to collect voter registrations should not be illegal.
BTW, we are not talking about voter fraud here. We are talking about voter registration fraud.
Pretty big difference.
ACORN is an anti-poverty organization???? Where have they eliminated poverty? (or even lessened it?)
Voter registration doesn’t seem to me to be “anti-poverty”.
the fix is so simple even a congressmoron could think of it. your fingerprint is your signature on all your documents. votes, checks, employment records, speeding tickets, credit card apps. computers can then be honest peoples friend instead of churning out false id’s for illegals and miscreants.
And what, exactly, is the OUTCOME of vote registration fraud, if not outright VOTER FRAUD?
Geesh, public education didn’t do YOU any favors.
Thanks DogBreath, I should have been clearer. I think his (or his family’s) life span may be a bit shorter now.
DITTO!! That statement was about as short-sighted and just plain dumb as I’ve ever seen.
And it’s still illegal!!!!
Regardless of your notion of a supposed “big difference” ACORN still knowingly committed a crime in this instance. And this is just what was uncovered. What ELSE do they have going on?
Is there no end to the amount of rationalization and justification of the Left by leftists?? And how telling is it that someone feels the need to minimize the crime here? That tells me that leftists know full well that ACORN is a DEMOCRAT-AFFILIATED enterprise, pure and simple. Otherwise, they wouldn’t feel compelled to rush in and defend them anymore than say, Judicial Watch.
No it is only illegal if a anyone rather than a Democrat votes more than once, or if a dead person votes republican. The Democrats have been cheating so long that it is now expected and sanctioned. That was so even BEFORE Johnson bragged in his book that he took public school buses to Mexico to bring back HIS voters….just a bit of fun and lots of tequila, and a great story. The republicans are some how accomplices I can’ t imagine quite how….but some how it goes along with the “bipartisan “ thing where the democrats always convince some republicans to vote for some horrible bill so that the Democrats let their members vote AGAINST ….and this shows the country that they are all working together????? Anyway DO NOT look for anyone to enforce election laws any time soon….any attempt would just draw attention to how corrupt the process has become and lesson the faith in government….Acorn is in charge and will remain so…
This article certainly spells out how Obama “won” PA so easily. PA would’ve likely gone blue anyway, but this made it impossible for McCain to win here.
Another ACORN operative who I met, and was very productive went by the name of OTIS, he was stationed at CSN for quite some time.
He might be another person who the attorney general should seek out.
