And now for some hard-hitting reporting on Michelle Obama

I need to stop focusing on Michelle Obama’s relationship with Astroturf Axelrod and her other crony Chicago ties.
I need to stop asking questions about her meddling in the firing of the Americorps inspector general.
No, I’ve got to learn to emulate the hard-hitting MSM and investigate the important issues raised by the First Lady.
Like her shorts.
No, really.
By now, Michelle Obama has firmly established her sartorial right to bare arms. But baring thighs may be another matter.
Photographs of the first lady descending the steps of Air Force One in shorts have the media in a sweat. Some are saying Mrs. Obama— on her way to the Grand Canyon for a family vacation — may have revealed too much skin.
Mrs. Obama is no stranger to public scrutiny over her fashion decisions, including exposing her bare arms or wearing expensive sneakers to a soup kitchen. When Anya Strzemien, style editor at The Huffington Post, saw Obama’s shorts, she knew there would be interest.
“I thought the fact that she wore shorts was newsworthy because she’s the first first lady to wear shorts on Air Force One,” Strzemien said. “I was interested as a newsperson because it was a first. A lot of things the Obamas have done have been firsts.”
She posted a poll for readers to explain what they thought: Most were in favor of the outfit, but others thought the shorts were inappropriate or too short.
She was “interested as a newsperson.”

You can take them out of the Ghetto, but you can’t take the Ghetto out of them.
I think you should have stated, “…while reading some of the comments here…”
Many of the comments have respectfully pointed out that Michelle Obama was disrespectful in her appearance.
However, I agree with your main point. There’s a big difference between being critical and being mean/shallow.
If reports are true and she has 22 ladies in waiting (plus a make-up and hair person), I would think one of them would remind her that everytime she leaves their private living quarters she is on stage. Perhaps she wasn’t all that thrilled to be placed in that spotlight, but certainly hasn’t said No to the trips and perks that go along with it.
Poor, poor taste, Michelle. I’m ashamed she, in a way, is showing her contempt for our nation. I guess she’ not proud of the USA any more after the first time.
iowavette: No problem!
I’ve got a mean comment because Michelle O thinks America is a mean country:
My God, if she sat in wet cement she’d make a skateboard park.
Barack in flip flops, Michelle in shorts. They are just cool and breezy, laid back, hipsters, showing the stuffy old codgers that you don’t need to dress up to go to church, or court, or dinner, or ride Air Force One and dress p.c. It’s cool bra!
Yeah, Ronald Reagan wouldn’t be caught dead in the oval office without his suitcoat on……how low this country has degraded since then…..
All I can say is at least we aren’t talking spandex.

Of course, not. Hydraulics and spinners on the Presidential limo.

There’s a “style editor” at the HuffPo?
How can you possibly talk like this about every female public figure and wonder why more women tend to vote Democrat? Is there a pathological fear of female thighs going around?
It’s not any more mature when you discuss Michael Moore’s weight problem, but the women definitely get targeted more, on more threads than I care to count. There’s nothing wrong with the way Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton or Janet Reno look, and even if there were, why would you waste so much time picking at it? Just have to let every female Democratic voter who might switch to Republican know that all the stereotypes are true and conservatives think of women only as decoration?
Or do you just want conservative women who may have the traits you pick on in equal or greater measure to be repulsed by your behavior?
Sure, argue about whether that’s appropriate attire for Air Force One or not. Etiquette, protocol, diplomacy, whatever. But when you start claiming she’s fat or saying she looks like a man, you are the ones who look…I’m going to be polite here and say “bad.” And you may want to get your vision checked.
No wonder big ear barry was always texting and talking to scarlett johannson
Hard to do that with the mother in law living in the next room.
Has any other president ever had his mother in law living at 1600 before?
Almost makes me feel sorry for him…
You’re 100% correct about not attacking people’s physical attributes.
However, you’re dead wrong about it being a conservative thing. In fact, I question your intelligence for suggesting so.
#113 nesting.
It’s her personality that makes her a classless pig, and my eyes are fine, she’s fugly.
Gee, thanks for giving many of us the permission to do exactly what we were doing.
The more i look at that picture ,the more i realize only 2 things are missing. A glass of Kool-Aid in one hand and a 25 cent bag of chips in the other.
Oh and one more thing nesting, moore is a disgusting fat pig and a waste of air.
Good point. The only thing you forgot was the corndog.
I’m at the age where I know I look better with my clothes on, so I usually keep ‘em on, even in the pool. She’ll see these pics and come to the same conclusion.
Corkie,
I know liberals do it, too. I don’t care as much. I don’t consider myself a liberal, so I don’t feel they’re making me look bad when they do it, and I am tired of watching conservatives take machine guns to their own feet. If liberals want to make themselves look horrible and then get voted out, good for the country.
Conservatives need to be a little more careful-actually, a lot more careful-because people come to the table with the idea that conservatives are sexist and liberals aren’t. A liberal saying stuff like that is assumed by the general public to be the exception; a conservative is assumed to be the rule. I know better, but I’m sold on conservative ideals already, so who cares what I do or don’t know?
The way Obama and the Democrats treated Palin during the election was absolutely disgusting, and the MSM made sure to cover that up. Don’t get me started on Bill Clinton, or how being pro-gun, especially pro-small gun, is a necessary feminist position, and I see poor Mrs. Malkin’s posts from her email, too. I don’t even touch Kos.
However, I always hope for better from conservatives, and have been getting really, really tired of what I’ve been reading on these boards, even more so in conjunction with all the “We’re so classy, and liberals aren’t” stuff. I’m embarrassed by it, as a self-identified conservative.
And I obviously am not in any kind of permission-giving capacity on this board; I meant only to distinguish what sorts of comments I was and was not complaining about.
And glad some people agree with me about the physical attributes. Thank you
Dear First Lady,
Please wear appropriate attire while boarding or exiting OUR plane.
I obviously agree with your point, but you exhibited poor leadership in your attempt to positively influence.
Sarcastically asking if,
isn’t going to produce the effect you desired. Hell, even someone that agreed with you became indignant (me).
Anyway, trying to guide MM’s commenters away from mean, shallow remarks is a worthy pursuit for both of us.
Is this the trailer park trash Clinton was talking about?
You can dress her up in $100 a pair denim shorts but she’s still a pig with lipstick.
Corkie,
Yeah, I can see where the sarcasm, and some other things that would have been indicated by tone in real life, didn’t get across. Thanks for the constructive criticism, Corkie. I mean that.
And that last point-quite agreed
I can understand the substantive dismantling of Michelle-my-belle Obama,…but her shorts?,…why should I care about her shorts?. I must be missing something.I hope I am.
Oh, all you haters out there…
You know that her outfit is the pinnacle of fashion. No one can look better than she.
Chill. We make fun of Obama whenever his glistening pecs appear.
We’re equal opportunity gender bashers.
It is a perfect statement…of her obvious contempt for her Country. Dems, one by one, have torn down every worthwhile tradition in this Country since the 1960′s. This is just one more. What a class act. Yeeech.
Here is another Obama first, the first President activly seeking the destroy both the United States and capitalism at the same .
…time
Cyberspace ate my first response…
Atheling,
Can you really look at the “physical appearance” posts about male versus female political players and honestly tell me they are the same in quantity and tone?
