Look who’s hijacking 9/11

Matthew Vadum reports that Obama’s left-wing allies are preparing plans to re-brand 9/11 as a national service/eco-zealot propaganda day.

Really:

The Obama White House is behind a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert Sept. 11 into a day of leftist celebration and statist idolatry.

This effort to reshape the American psyche has nothing to do with healing the nation and everything to do with easing the nation along in the ongoing radical transformation of America that President Obama promised during last year’s election campaign. The president signed into law a measure in April that designated Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service, but it’s not likely many lawmakers thought this meant that day was going to be turned into a celebration of ethanol, carbon emission controls, and radical community organizing.

The administration’s plans were outlined in an Aug. 11 White House-sponsored teleconference call run by Obama ally Lennox Yearwood, president of the Hip Hop Caucus, and Liv Havstad, the group’s senior vice president of strategic partnerships and programs.

Yearwood, who uses the honorific “Reverend” before his name, has been in the news in recent years, usually for getting arrested. After Democrats took back Congress, the rowdy activist was handcuffed outside a congressional hearing in September 2007 when Gen. David Petraeus was to testify. Yearwood told the “Democracy Now” radio program that he wanted to attend the hearing to hear Petraeus give his report. “I knew that when officers lie, soldiers die,” he said.

On the Aug. 11 call, Yearwood and other leaders kept saying repeatedly that they wanted 9/11 to be used for something “positive,” “forward-leaning,” and “productive,” said a source with knowledge of the teleconference.

The plan is to turn a “day of fear” that helps Republicans into a day of activism called the National Day of Service that helps the left. In other words, nihilistic liberals are planning to drain 9/11 of all meaning.

Makes perfect sense coming from a president who believes that the root of 9/11 jihadi stems “from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers.”

***

The provision turning 9/11 into a “National Day of Service” was lodged in the massive national service expansion bill – GIVE/SERVE — signed into law this spring.

Reminder: Only 14 Republicans in the Senate voted against the bill.

…of which he was repeatedly warned and did nothing…

Damn…but how can anyone argue against that same Truther statement that has been repeated only one less time than it has been debunked? Let’s look at that warning in it’s simplest form, so that maybe even LGM, who swims in Denial, will understand:

    “Mr. President:
We have information that a very bad man who declared war against the United States over three years ago, and who was offered to your predecessor on a silver platter for arrest and detainment in the United States, and who is responsible for hundreds of deaths in various terrorist attacks on foreign soil and who was allowed to escape because your predecessor feared what the press would do to him during his Impeachment, has plans to attack this country.

We do not know where he is, exactly, we do not know how he plans to attack, we do not know when he is planning to attack, we do not know who he is planning to attack, we do not know what he is planning to attack, nor do we even know where he is planning to attack, and his plans for attacking us have not changed in the last several years…we just know, based on him telling us several years ago and repeatedly ever since, that he is planning on it.”

Now, given that warning, and this is basically what the warning was, what, exactly, would you have had him do? Even if we knew that on September 11, 2001, Muslim men of Asian/Middle Eastern appearance were planning on hijacking planes and using them to carry out some sort of terrorist attack on United States soil, which would pretty much be the only type of warning that even comes close to being actionable, in this day and age of law suits, political correctness, unsubstantiated accusations of racism and more, where even after this occurred those fitting the profile of an Islamic Fundamental Terrorist go through airport security without being questioned or given extra scrutiny while the caucasian grandmother is cavity searched, what would you have had Bush do?

Stop all air traffic? Stop and detain all those fitting the description?

Go on…tell us with all yoir wisdom what should have been done. Be strsight…don’t spin it, don’t change the subject or any other Liberal nonsense.

I remember that day as if it just happened. I remember being awaken ti the tones going off telling our USAR group to prepare for immediate deployment and then standing in the Day Room, watching as the second plane blew out Tower 1. I remember sitting there with my fellow firemen as we watched 343of our brothers instantly have their lives snuffed out, along with the rest.

I will not allow that day to be turned into some misguided Socialist/hippie love-fest, where we are to wrend our garments and declare how sorry we are for being Americans and centuries ahead of and better than these Medeival thugs. Especially not by those who fundamentally hate what this country is and stands for and who find sympathy and empathy for those who publically call for and actively work for the death of Her citizens and destruction of all it is and stands for…and especially not for anyone who has even a modicum of Truther beliefs.

It’s a mistake to accept the premise. MM did not present convincing evidence that the Obama administration is trying to do anything. Some goofball at a wingnut rag thinks someone I never heard of (but who fancies himself allied with Obama) said something about 9/11.

Most likely, this whole story is “pure weapons grade bolonium”.

Now let’s jump into the Way Back Machine, Sherman, and try to imagine what you would have said if it was posited that Obama would push the deficit to nearly 10 TRILLION dollars in a bare six months, and in the process, nationalize many banks, domestic automakers and try to imagine what you would have said….

I think the Spectator writer Matthew Vadum made up the whole thing. Maybe there was a conference call, maybe not. Does Obama know Lennox Yearwood? I never heard of him.

Note the weasel words: “think” and “maybe” and the lgm classic “I never heard of him”.

Ever hear of a Google search? Here is some help for the helpless: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lennox_Yearwood

Why are you trying so hard to prove the “remove all doubt” part of “Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt?” quote of Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens, because you might never have heard of him either)?

The only thing in the article that is likely to be true is the quote, which most Americans would agree with:

But 9/11 has become a brand name. A Republican campaign slogan. Propaganda of the lowest form. 9/11 has become 9/11 with a trademark logo. “9/11 TM” has sustained a president who long ago should have been dismissed, or impeached. It has kept him and his gang of financial and constitutional crooks in office without — literally — any visible means of support. “9/11 TM” has made possible the greatest sleight-of-hand in our nation’s history.

Clearly MM’s emotional level over this issue is her worry that the 9/11 branding could change.

Then, by your definition, the Great Depression would be the brand name of the Democrats? And the Viet Nam war, and the “Great” Society, “only we can help minorities (but never do)”, and the almost defunct Social Security, right?

Not as sick as those who actually do the branding of 9/11. You know, the Bush administration.

What is this branding you speak of?

Saying that “we don’t want 911 to happen again” is some sort of 911 branding?

That’s either bad logic, or you don’t know what branding is.

Obummer can do all the “rebranding” of 9/11 he wants but he will never erase the lessons from that day. The day that terrorists DID hijack planes that crashed into buildings and whose aftermath killed two of my friends. You can never remake a horror into something else. Never.

The Federal government will never coerce me into serving them. My husband and I already pay for their thievery and the “privilege” of being in a government health care program (Tricare). I already put up with all the nonsense I ever will with deployments and the fickle needs and wishes of the military and their constant social engineering. The Federal government has made so many promises to military spouses and retirees that they’ll never be able to keep up with the lies they’ve told us.

You can rewind history but you can never totally obliterate it. There are millions of us who haven’t forgotten and never will.

red state bigot seems to think bush was warned about 9/11. I smell a truther.

When I was a kid people said FDR knew an attack on Pearl Harbor was coming too, and he let it happen to get us into the war to get the economy going. Lies never really go away, they just change participants.

Here is a challenge for everyone that has kids in school. If their school had the President’s Welcome Back to School Speech on video this week, ask them how long the teacher talked about the President’s message. Then ask them if there was any class lesson, discussion or video about the attacks on 9/11. If they showed the President but didn’t talk about 9/11, that tells you alot about your school district.

Interesting. I guess liberals would have had President Roosevelt use December 7th as a rallying cry for planting trees in honor of the fallen, rather than declaring war on Japan defeating them, Germany, and Italy, and keeping the free world safe from demagoguery for the next 60+ years.

I’m sure Japan would have loved to see Americans plating trees all over the US of A, rather than Americans manning the ships, the planes, the companies, divisions, and brigades that sent them into a horrific defeat…
