Barney “Grabby Hands” Frank: Ready to “reshape U.S. finance”

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 25, 2009 11:46 PM

Egad, hasn’t he done enough damage already?

Apparently not. Via the Boston Globe, Rep. Barney Frank can’t wait to meddle even more in the marketplace. Keep an eye on the grabby hands:

As chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Frank is busy assembling a complex bill to give the federal government unprecedented control over the country’s financial institutions. It is as ambitious as any legislation jolting town halls and cable-news programs…When Congress returns to session after Labor Day, Frank expects to chair a series of hearings and markup sessions that he hopes will generate a single comprehensive bill on financial reform for a vote in the House…

…Frank says the legislation is necessary to help fend off future episodes of financial panic. Hedge funds and derivatives traders would have to operate under new limits. A financial products safety commission would regulate the consumer marketplace, down to payday loans and check-cashing stores. Federal officials would gain new powers to unwind failed financial institutions.

Last time I checked Barney Frank’s financial oversight record was the pits. Only in Beltway Bizarro World does such an epic failure get rewarded with even more expansive powers to screw things up.

One must wonder how it is that people such as this have been free to wander the halls of DC for so many years without being caught in their corruption until now.

It’s like Americans have told such as these by lack of oversight, without words, or maybe directly, “It’s OK to pilfer what you want from the treasure chest of America, but stay out of my personal wallet.”

Where were the Washington Malkin-esk investigators before these kinds of vermin got so entrenched and became brazen enough to ware their greed as openly as a pimp’s fur coat?

What exactly are we paying federal prosecutors and investigators for?

Well, their going for our wallets now so the people are getting angry. Remember, Americans are capitalists and we want to decide where our capital goes.

I don’t know whether to shake my head, sigh, pound a fist to the wall, or cry. That greedy, slobbering buffoons like Frank have this kind of power should stop this nation in its tracks and be a huge wake up call. This kind of scenario should be frightening even to those who voted in this jacka$$ in the not so great state of Massachussetts.

Those in control don’t know what they’re doing, yet want to project the lie that such experimentation and tightening regulations actually mean a stronger, capitalist society is really quite revolting. Do they think they can continue to limit human potential, choice, and destiny because if the government doesn’t have a piece of the pie or some control then it’s some risky behavior?

It’s like winning the lottery and then the Federal government saying that if you don’t spend the money a certain way it will be confiscated. Human potential is independent of the whims of governments, agendas, and egomaniacal personalities like Barney Frank.

Hasn’t Barney Frank done enough already? A big part of the reason we’re in this financial mess is because of him.

Right now, giving more control to the Feds over the economy is like turning over the flight controls to that Egyptian Airlines co-pilot who purposely put the plane into a power dive straight into the Atlantic a few years ago.

Thanks in no small part to Barney, it’s arguable that we’re already in that power dive. If that’s the case, then what he’s now proposing is to allow the co-pilot to “exercise greater control” by performing aerobatics that will rip the plane to pieces before it hits the water.

Who says that? The dude he was sleeping with at Fannie Mae? I’ve never heard that but I agree with corkie. I’ve seen many of his interviews. This is NOT a smart man. He really lacks a fundamental understanding the area he is supposed to be responsible for. It seems that all he knows is how to pander to those that will keep him in office and how to ingratiate himself on our dime.

YEEHAW dean keeps banging the drum to tax business to pay for healthcare, as if they weren’t already. businesses in china and indonesia don’t pay social security, unemployment insurance, workers compensation, or these confiscatory taxes. tell a democrat if he wants a job, or his children want a job, they better start valuing employers instead of denegrating them.

Of course enriching themselves along the way is an enticing and delightful pasttime, all built with the blood sweat and life savings of middle class Americans.
