The problem is the guy is now completely ineffective. If the Lt. Governor is also a slime-ball then I guess trading one slime-ball for another may teach the good people of South Carolina to stop voting for slime-balls!

Frankly, it is time all of us learned that lesson. We have a chance to demonstrate our ability to learn in 2010 and again in 2012. Time will tell…

The more you talk about it, the more legs this story will have. And the Dems will say it’s the republicans who think republicans are criminals.

It was Sanford’s actions that brought this imbroglio upon him…not me.. and not the next critic. Get it?

You have an issue with his ‘misuse of government funds’ because you are mad that he cheated on his wife.

I could honestly care less about his wife. She made her life with him and she will have to deal with his adultery in whatever way she chooses.

Agreed. Every time I see this guy on TV, I cringe. If he would resign, at least he could retain a semblance of dignity. But to continue to whine and babble about how much the state “needs him” after he abdicated his responsibility to fly to Argentina to satisfy his lust, is just too much to bear. He abandoned his responsibility, deceived and defrauded the people of South Carolina, and has brought shame to himself and to his family, as well as to his state. TIME.TO.GO.

I remember all too well the sordid details of our fine president Clinton who shamed our country with his inability to control himself, and his penchant for lying. For months on end, the nation was treated to a nightly parade of trash talk. As a direct result of Clinton’s actions, our public standards of decency were permanently lowered. Now we have Sanford who can’t even see why he should no longer hold the public trust, after he threw it away.

I could continue about WHY our D speaker is now in JAIL (not impeached, in JAIL). . . but I’ve seen gov corruption. Sanford’s is tame.

In NC, we are STILL investigating our former gov for misuse of funds. His travel records for using highway patrol funds for the entire year of 2005 are missing. The feds are looking for them. He was a D, his Lt. Gov is now the Gov and she’s a D. Lots of our D legislators are now in jail for violating federal law.

Again, I’d trade our corruption for this ‘corruption’ in a second. But I’m not wrapping myself around Sanford specifically. I just don’t think this issue is as important as people here seem to think it is.

To your bold points. He doesn’t represent ‘conservatism’ unless you say he does. If he’s conservative, that’s great. . . but he’s not the sole arbiter of conservatism.

What? You mean that if I just stop discussing it some dem isn’t going to harp on this????? They’d love him to stay on, just to weaken real conservatives in that state elsewhere longer term…and the longer term is what is important.

The bottom line is that he lied about the affair,and unless it can be proven that his affair solely came out of his salary as governor, he still has legal problems which are in fact impeachable, which if he does not resign, is a probability for he has become a liability to himself, his wife, his party. Moreover, his continual babbling about his Christian faith-which he tore to shreds like a dimwit-has destroyed his credibility.

Governor Sanford needs a shrink, not be kept in office.

He’s an embarrassment. Right now he is deluded beyond belief.

If you want to wrap yourself around this guy, you can go ahead and do so. Again, I do not know what you are going to gain by it.

He didn’t do anything illegal. I didn’t think Clinton did anything illegal by having an affair either. Silly me, when I said Clinton’s impeachment didn’t have anything to do with sex, I meant it. You must not have.

Apparently an individual’s sex life is important to you. It shouldn’t be.

Does he do his job? If so, drop it. If not, impeach him. He’s not going to resign. The main guy leading his impeachment has the most to gain, and they have never gotten along. It is local politics that gained national prominence because of the liberal media.

The liberal media want to smear ‘the right’. The more importance you give to this issue, the worse it will be.

He’s the governor. You are not. Get over it.

The fact that Dems get caught up in more and worse scandals doesn’t make Sanford less wrong. He needs to go.
