When stationed at Peterson AFB from 1998 to 2001 we watched them build over 600,000 new homes in the area. I do miss the wonderful view of the Front Range and Pike’s Peak. Welcome home to the troops at Fort Carson!

    In about two weeks (Saturday, 12 Sep) Mountain Home, ID will throw their annual Air Force Appreciation Day to honor our Airmen and their families at the local Air Force Base. It will include the largest annual parade in the state and a free barbeque to all comers. Drop on by if you will be about 45 miles east of Boise on I-84 on that date. The folks in fly over country still support our troops and appreciate their sacrifices on our behalf.

These pictures brought tears to my eyes, and fond memories from years ago when we put on a similar welcome home for the Desert Storm Heroes in Durango, Colorado.

    BTW, we didn’t make them march through town, they came through in buses, and were heartily fed at Durango’s VFW.

    I was stationed at Carson in the mid 80′s…absolutely loved it. Colorado Springs was growing fast even then.

    I lived in Denver in 89-90, and it was being overrun then with illegal aliens. Boulder was the typical liberal bastion, but as was said, it started leaking to other areas.

    This gives one hope that Colorado can keep the stinking swamp confined.

    We prayed for a young soldier, his wife, and 2 year old son this morning at church–he is being sent to Iraq soon. One of the church members is a 90+ year old man who was a 16 year old Army soldier at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

    C.S. is a beautiful place with many patriotic, friendly, law-abiding people. I live half-way between the Springs and Denver. C.S. is still not very liberal or expensive when compared to Boulder. There are more registered Independents in Colorado than the other parties, so Colorado can swing back to a more red state, if so convinced. I hope all the self-professed Coloradans here, and Ms. Malkin, can help us move that pendulum back in the next election cycle. Our freedom is at stake.
