Police: Health care reform used as NY crime ploy
    (AP) – 10 hours ago

NEW YORK — Police say attackers used health care reform as a ruse to approach their victims and then shot two and pistol-whipped another in a Long Island home.

Suffolk County police said Saturday that a 26-year-old woman was arrested on attempted murder and burglary charges in the attack Friday in Huntington. Two men were arrested on the same charges earlier. Information on the suspects’ arraignments wasn’t immediately available Saturday night.

Police say the three told the home’s residents they were selling insurance, referring to President Barack Obama’s push to overhaul America’s health care system. Police say the suspects then forced their way in, demanded money and attacked the victims.

Wishing everyone a happy Sunday morning from the middle of nowhere Idaho! The weather guesser is predicting more on the way today with the heavy stuff hitting this evening and overnight.

We just returned from a week of leave spent on the Oregon coast enjoying the ocean view. I’ll be spending the rest of the day psyching myself up to go back to work tomorrow. If I’m lucky I should have only a couple of hundred e-mails to go through and an entire Squadron wanting me to buy something with my Government Purchase Card. We are going into the most wonderful time of the year end of the Federal Government’s fiscal year. I figure I’ll be caught up about the middle of October.

Harry Reid is a prime example of why we need term limits for both houses of Congress.

After two terms they all get pretty much incorporated into the corrupt system we call government. They just can’t help it.

In our Townhall meeting last Monday here in Gillette, Senator Enzi (one of the more conservative senators and the only accountant in the Senate and one of the gang of 6) responded to a request to stop negotiating with the dems on obamacare and get a conservative reform package on the table. His response was, “if I wasn’t negotiating we would already have the healthcare package”. He was just re-elected to his 3rd term.

On the upside, another constituent respectfully pointed out that it wasn’t him and his gang that has held up obamacare, it was the massive protests all across the country that has held it up.

Arrogance and corruption is so ingrained, they just can’t help getting sucked into it. The old go along to get along style of government.

OTOH Senator Barrasso (Orthopedic Surgeon re-elected after being appointed to fill the late Senator Craig Thomas’ term) is still in the fight against obamacare and crap and tax (which would be devastating to the Wyoming economy). I’ve seen him on Fox more in the past 6 months than I’ve seen Sen Enzi in 10 years. Not to mention his appearances on MSNBC, CNN, CBS etc etc (which I don’t watch I just get an email from his office when he’s going to appear).

Senator Barrasso. . . .one of the good guys (until he gets sucked in to the system).

I agree. I don’t want to criticize anyone who is trying to defeat this bill. They have to tread lightly, since they are totally outnumbered and don’t have a prayer to stop it if the libs decide to go ahead. Delay tactics are the only option right now. After their very ugly divorce he witnessed his father shoot a contractor working at their home, then his stepmother and the scum finally turned the gun on himself. That happened when the child was 10yrs old. He and his 2 little half-sisters were present.

What followed was a life of drugs, crime and a living nightmare for the entire family. He had finally just completed an extensive 18 month, court ordered drug rehab. He had totally turned his life around by all accounts.

He was to receive his certificate of completion from the rehab this week. Wednesday, he and another resident of the rehab were on their way to work when a hot shot truck rear-ended them in stopped traffic. The truck was going approx 60mph when he hit them. He never regained consciousness.

My heart is so heavy today I can barely breathe.

Apparently, the paperwork is so bogged down that they had to take their truck home so they have something to drive until they can get the new car. In the meantime, the new car payments have already started and these people are paying insurance on a car they don’t even have yet AND they have to keep up the insurance on the truck that they can’t turn in because they need something to drive. Is that even possible? Can the government really screw this program up THAT badly?? I say, yes. Every time the government gets involved in ANYTHING, it gets screwed up. It becomes bogged down with red tape, and costs 10 times what they say it would. There can be NO compromise on the health”care” bill! None!! My best friend from high school buried her 31 yr old son yesterday.
That poor guy had a really tragic life from day one. He witnessed his father be a toatl a$$hat to his mother.

    How awful. *Hugs.*

Yep! I went through that same thing. They told me that I had to assign the clunker title over to them in order to get the ball rolling but I could keep using it unitl the approval came in.

I drove it for a couple days but then realized… the clunker no longer had a valid registration or insurance coverage because it technically did not belong to me anymore. Those innocent little ~technicalities~ can become A HUGE ENORMOUS LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE when lawyers find out after an accident and take your house away. Long story short, I had to threaten the dealer with reporting them to NHTSA in order to get delivery of the new car – the CARS.GOV site specifically stated that dealers were not allowed to hold back delivery pending NHTSA approval after all the paperwork was completed and submitted.

Yeah, I can’t even see the mountains for all of the smoke. I just read that the situation is completely out of control and the fire is expanding in all directions and heading for Santa Clarita.

I attended the Susan Davis town hall meeting in Spring Valley yesterday. I appreciated that she changed the venue from the library to the gym so that everyone could get in and water was provided to avoid discomfort from the heat wave. Everyone that wanted in got in, and signs were allowed.

It was a boisterous meeting. This is still America after all and we like our politics loud, so that’s OK. There were uniformed activists: ACORN, a health care provider union, some scattered trade unions, and a contingent from the group for “health care reform now” whose correct name escapes me at the moment. On the other side were Ron Paul followers, tea partiers, and former AARP members. There were some other groups that seemed very passionate, but I’m not sure exactly what about. Rough estimate would be about as many pro-government health care option as anti, with a significant number of people who were there for other reasons, like auditing the Fed and overturning Roe v Wade. It’s hard to say exactly, maybe more on one side or the other but everyone was intermingled so I couldn’t count. The questions were asked by randomly selected attendees, and seemed to be mainly from the anti group.

The congresswoman opened the meeting by asking the loaded questions “Who is for health care reform?” and “Who is against any kind of health care reform?” Obviously a lot of people who are against a government option are in favor of other reforms, like catastrophic care and so forth.

The congresswoman asserted that she was in favor of a government option even though 85% of respondents to a poll on her website were against it.

We will be underground with no ready means to communicate. Even the prospect of collecting contact information now is fraught with scary scenarios. But it’s something to be thinking about.

Consider this: would the health care uprising or tea parties have happened without the Internet and/or talk radio?

This is a liberal mindset and says it all. They don’t care what We The People want. Even if 99% of the American People wanted the bill dumped, they would forge ahead to ram it through. For them, ideology trumps integrity every time. We are at war with the liberal left. It is a bit scary, though, because they look just like us! How do we know who the enemies are until they open their mouths? Very hard to defeat people who look just like us and can bob and weave and spin so well. Great challenges lie ahead.

Not in FLA. Our “Republican” Governor Charlie Crist appointed his closest advisor and ex-chief of staff to replace Rep Mel Martinez in the senate. Charlie is going to run for senate. He went through the motions about interviewing some really good people but we knew he’d pick someone he knew would step down to let him run…he didn’t want to resign as governor after appointing himself. Instead of picking someone tried and true like Daniel Webster, he showed his true character. He’s toast as far as we’re concerned. We are going to support ANY Republican who runs against him in the primaries. So far it’s Marco Rubio and we are happy to support him.

I chose Crime as the topic for this e-mail since it is a criminal act when my government forces me to waste my time answering a bunch of questions, under threat of fines and jail time, that I have no obligation to respond to in the first place under the 4th and 5th Amendments of the United States Constitution. If I was more affluent then I would have considered refusing to answer the questions in this “Survey” and taking my chances in Federal Court. This is just another example of an out of control Federal Government.

How long does the “government” in Washington expect the American people to suffer under this type of tyranny?

My solution is to change the method of primary voting to either a run-off style whereby there is a run-off between the top two vote getters if neither got more than 50%..OR..(to avoid a second polling but effecting a run-off result), insitute a TWO VOTE primary ballot whereby each voter gets to vote in the affirmative for one candidate and IN THE NEGATIVE for one other candidate.

I keep asserting that if EITHER of the above voting methods had been used last year – McCain would have LOST by a significant margin. A lone RINO like him, a ‘ringer’ in an otherwise more conservative field of candidates, can win the primary with far less than the majority of votes. If you had put McCain up against any ONE of say Romney or Thompson or Hunter or even Paul in a run-off – I say McCain would have been trounced.

Also, with either above change, I think there will be fewer instances of candidates dropping out early like Hunter did for example. He dropped out before I even had a chance to vote for him – that SUCKED!

Which brings up another change we need to the primary process – Why can’t we demand to have all the states have the primary on the same day and in say July not January? It’s our party- let’s MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Apologies for the length of this post, but considering its Sunday… for whatever its worth, here are my thoughts…

Madison, WI AFP town-hall with John Stossel

Last Wednesday, I attended the AFP (Americans for Prosperity) health care town-hall in the ultra-Liberal nucleus of the Midwest; Madison, Wisconsin. AFP held three town-halls in the state last week and John Stossel (co-host of ABC News 20/20) was the keynote speaker and forum moderator for all three. He donated his usual speaking fees to charity.

The scheduled format was a 15-20 minute speech from Stossel followed by a Q&A with a panel of “expert” types. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) was invited to speak and participate in the Madison event, but she declined. Though invited, all Dem Congressmen refused to attend any of the state events.

This one I couldn’t miss, as Madison would surely provide a good number of Lefty protestors. This event was scheduled from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the Madison Marriott West convention center. I arrived an hour early, surprised to find the parking lot about ½ full.

As I approached the convention center I noticed two LEOs standing outside the entry doors. Upon entering, I saw a hand-made sign taped to the inner door reading, “no guns allowed in the hotel” (I chuckled). Upon entering there were four more LEOs at the ready. As I passed down the hall to the check-in area I passed four more LEOs.

Arriving at the entry to the ball-room I proceeded to the check-in table to get my credentials and found two more LEOs standing there. After signing-in I glanced into the ball-room to find it about 1/3 full with folks (plus two more LEOs inside). Since it was still 45 minutes to the event start, I headed off to the hotel bar for a bit of refreshment.

I returned about 10 minutes prior to the start and located my seat. As I looked over the crowd, I noticed a lot of gray hair. Stossel followed shortly and I had a brief moment to say hello an introduce myself. He’s a skinny almost frail guy with a rather soft handshake. He also says very little when you meet him, but he is quite polite and gracious (not arrogant).

The event started with Vikki McKenna (a local conservative talk-show host) warming-up the crowd. As she approached the podium, she received a standing ovation. She answered by saying, “This is a gooood crowd!”; more raucous applause. When Stossel was introduced, he too, received a standing ovation. I was sitting about 20 feet to his left and could see his face clearly; he looked sincerely surprised.

Stossel began his remarks and after a minute or so, a heckler yelled something from the back of the room. Stossel brushed it off with a humorous comment and continued. After another minute or so, another heckler yelled something again (most heckles were things like, “Yeah, what about Bush!” or “That’s a lie!”; no signs were allowed in the ballroom).

This time Stossel responded loudly with, “What do we have back there, a narcissist convention?!” The crowd laughed at the hecklers and they must have been intimidated as they went silent, until the Q&A. Stossel finish his thoughts and Vikki returned to introduce the panel.

The panel consisted of a woman MD who founded a clinic for women’s’ breast health (something that would not exist under ObamaCare), an insurance executive, a medium-sized business owner and former US Congressman, Scott Kluge. After each panel member took a few moments to offer their thoughts, Stossel returned to moderate the panel Q&A and Vikki grabbed one of three audience mikes and headed into the crowd to field questions.

The audience questions were all pretty thoughtful; no one tried to “speechify” the event. The panel was well balanced for a health care debate; medical, insurance, business and political with Stossel adding the “investigative reporter’s” input.

At one point the hecklers started again. This time, the panel member treated the heckles’ outbursts as questions. For example, when a heckler would yell something like, “Death panels are a lie!”, the doctor would quietly explain what was stated in HR 3200 about “mandatory end of life counseling” and what that meant. The hecklers seemed kind of shocked at the reasoned response.

A few just yelled to yell and the audience took care of them. At one point an audience member (a senior women) stood-up to face a heckler and yelled, “Shut-up and read the bill!”. The audience followed with a thunderous round of applause and cheers. I counted the hecklers by who clapped when a jeer was yelled and would put them at no more than 15 people.

The event ended on time and the audience exited quietly and orderly. I decided to head back to the hotel bar until most of the 2000 people had left the parking lot. Oh, I guess I forgot to mention earlier, the attendance count was 2000 people! In Madison, Wisconsin! Many thanks to all you Astro-turfers who also attended!
