Circumvention: The Obama way
Reader Katie e-mails about how the US Department of Education circumvented elected school officials to send notice of President Obama’s junior lobbyist recruitment speech on September 8:

I am a conservative school board member in the Atlanta area…
It is very important to note that the DOE sent letters directly to the Principals of every public school in the country – Completely bypassing the locally elected Boards of Education and the Superintendents.
I found out about this last night – I let my Superintendent know. Here in Georgia, we start school early in August so although there is very little time before 9/8/09 – we have a chance of letting our parents know so they can opt out. I will most likely lose any protest against showing it – although as a last ditch effort I will ask it be taped so we can discuss as a Board whether or not to show it. But what about the school districts that start on Sept 8th? They have no time to let parents know so they can opt out.
Planned? I think so.

ZERO is the WON. Bypassing inconvenient protocol is expected. How dare parents even consider opting their offspring out of absorbing ZEROs words Nothing must interfere with his

This is not going to stop. Therefore, on each and every occasion we have the Constitutional duty to our country, our families and our individual liberties to raise up in righteous wrath.
This is not even appropriate conduct for a mayor or governor to do, much less a President.
Do not protest to the White House. they do not care what you think. Tip O’Neill was correct. All politics is local. You cannot unelect Obama, but you sure can unelect a school board that allows it, who in turn will fire principals and superintendents that go along with it.
My kids are out of school, but I sure intend to give everyone up to and including my Senators an earful.
I’ll bet that somehow, now that it has been exposed, the Bush administration planned the whole thing.

while I no longer have kids in school or grandkids in school as yet, I am outraged at this blantant attempt at yet more radical marxist conduct on the part of obamadinejad. He is not to be worshiped nor is he the supreme educator…he needs to take care of more important matters like actually doing his job rather than taking yet another vacation….If he can’t handle it he needs to resign…better yet we need to make his numbers plummet to rock bottom and then in 2010 we need to ensure he can’t do a thing other than sit at the desk in the oval office and twiddle his thumbs…
Time to start stocking up on bags of rice, beany-weenies, and toilet paper.

I Contacted the Superintendent of my kids’ school district with a message that, “I hope he decides not to have the schools in the District participate in this exercise – which has nothing to do with education.”

He is getting LOTS OF CALLS and was in a closed door meeting to determine whether or not to participate in the progrom (not a typo).
That would explain a number of comments on Michelle’s other posting on this topic — the ones in which the superintendents, when asked, knew nothing about this stunt.
That’s pretty well put. It’s the same kind of thinking that has produced so many of these “Czars.” As I understand it, cops refer to this kind of behavior as “J.D.L.R.” — “Just doesn’t look right.” People don’t engage in devious behaviors, suspicious-looking evasions and double-talk obfuscations unless they’re trying to hide something.
It’s like watching the world of 1984 be created right before my eyes.
I had this very thought today. Bumpy doesn’t begin to cover it.
my local military commissary is having a case lot sale in 2 weeks…I’ll be stocking up on any of the bargains they may have for staples…

I am delighted to see that at least one school board in the country has at least one reasonable and dedicated member. And I hope you share the results from your district.
better yet just pull them out of class during the time obamadinejad is spouting his dribble…take them to the lunch room or under a tree somewhere on school grounds and read the Constitution and Bill of Rights to them…if you can’t go, get a power of attorney to allow a grandparent to take them out of class! get involved or loose your kids to marxists/communists.

My Son started 1st grade today. Does anyone know if they plan on showing this to kids that young?
I think it would be more impressive for every parent to accompany their children to school and sit with them during the presentation. Then during the Q/A the parents could open a can of whoop a** using a pocket copy of the Constitution as their guide.
If I had a child in school I would plan on being there.
As it is, I will call my local school to see what their plans are and then start calling parents that I know.
I hear it is K-12. My grandson starts kindergarten on Tuesday. I will be there.

Hell-o-o-o…is there any reason, what-so-ever, that will compel teachers to participate with this “Howdy Doo-doo Show” on Sept. 8th?
Will their public funding be yanked?
Have they been threatened by other means, or, are they simply marching to the drum-beat of the national teachers unions?
How can this Administration NOT be guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors” given the volume and intensity of these marxian initiatives?
Their obsession with controling the schools (their message to children), and their white-knuckled grip on the news media is bizarre and terrifying. Clearly a time-tested strategy from Alynsky and the Communist Manifesto.
In answer to the question, “What do you think the President is asking you to do?”, my 8th-grader responded, “I’m guessing he must want me to stay in school to develop good reading skills so I can read off of a teleprompter when I grow up.”
Yes, he’s in a public school, but obviously, I’ve done a decent job of educating him here at home.
I just talked to my 6th graders principle. I asked him about it, he didn’t know if it was going to be mandatory or not(we live in a predominately conservative country). He said if it is, they’d have an opt out program, where the kids could do other things while it was going on. I told him that I did NOT want any backlash from her not participating because I know that most teachers are liberal/union members. I’m putting it all out there.
He was very approacable. Now on to my 8th graders school.
I just did a search and found out my district will not participate. They will archive it and provide it online for parents and children to view on their own time.
I can’t tell you what a relief it is for my wife and I to find this out. We were really struggling on whether to let our kindergarten age girl attend that day. We had gone back and forth on the matter and I had about come to the conclusion that she was young enough I could take care of any “misunderstandings” she walked away with (she is actually pretty good about asking us about stuff).
Our district likewise isn’t going to broadcast this live. A link to the video will be made available for one week on the school district’s website, in case parents and students want to watch it together.
I’ve noticed RSS is keeping a low profile. As soon as he shows up, I’m going to hit him with my research which refutes his wishful thinking claim that MM never exposes white racism. Come on RSS, I know you’re out there.

Jet Jaguar, there are a lot of times that LGM, RSS, and such won’t show up, and that is when they are proven wrong. This will be true of libs always-they will be always there to tell conservatives that they are full of sh#t, until they are proven wrong…but I’d like to see what you have anyway, it should be instructive.
