“I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama”

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 2, 2009 01:05 PM

As if I needed any more evidence to bolster today’s column about the Obama junior lobbyist campaign in America’s schools, here’s another item fresh from the headlines in Utah:

A school principal has apologized for showing a video at an assembly that a politically conservative group leader is calling “radical, leftist propaganda.”

Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington were shown a short video called “I pledge” on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, “Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.” The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world — and that’s where some say the problem lies…

… Gayle Ruzicka, president of conservative Utah Eagle Forum, said the video was blatantly political. She said other offensive pledges included, “I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama,” “I pledge allegiance to the funk, to the united funk of funkadelica,” and pledges to not use plastic grocery bags and not flush the toilet after urinating.

“It’s very inappropriate to show a radical, leftist propaganda piece that political to children,” Ruzicka said. “If parents want their children to learn about those things and do them in the home, wonderful, fine, but it’s not the place of the school to show a one-sided propaganda piece to children without parents knowing about it.”

Cieslewicz said such values should be decided in the home, not at school.

Coming to a classroom assembly near you…

So all the progress made to eridicate disease over the last 100 years is not not enviromentally appropiate. Got it.

Well, I pledge to us eplastic grocery bags and for good measure, flush the toilet twice.

The cloth bag ’solution’ has been quite efficient at spreading disease. I’m glad you are not contributing to the folly propagated first in the name of ’save the trees’ – use plastic and then save the world – don’t use plastic.
Don’t be so sensitive. We’ve all been saturated by bad leftist ideas.

I live with someone who is “Serve Safe Certified” (a legal requirement for anyone who serves food to the public), so I probably know more about what is ‘efficient at spreading disease’ than the average person – and how to prevent the same.

So don’t try to pass it off as me being “so sensitive’. Your comment was offensive on its face and you know it.

    Thank you for that.

I may be a little on edge right now – an illness in the family (age related, not those ‘nasty germs’ ;-) ). But I do hate it when some people assume that because we use reusable cloth bags that we don’t know or care about ‘germs’, or that we’ve bought into the eco-nut propaganda.

Of course, having a cat that likes to eat plastic bags and then barf it up all over the carpet is one motivation to keep said bags at a minimum in our house.

    You Neanderthal, you…! ;-)

The cat we had before this one, which, as I told our pediatrician when she was trying to determine whether the cat was a problem for our asthmatic toddler, I had before I had my husband ;-) was part Siamese, and for a long time she was mine and mine alone. Eventually she adopted my husband, and more than tolerated the children.

This one, according to the family that let their female cat get pregnant ‘as a biology lesson’ for their kids (I will not comment further on that…) and from whom we adopted him, is part Siamese on his paternal side – I don’t know what the feline equivalent of ‘mutt’ is, but he’s it. Still beautiful, and still dumb.

And I can’t imagine not having him (we named him Ginger, ’cause he’s full of it!).

    Anyway, thanks for the chuckle.

Getting on the bandwagon a little late here.

Without a doubt, the creepiest video I have ever seen….creepier than the sickest horror movies, and that ilk, because this was real, by real people, rich people, people, sadly, of influence, in this country.

Are they frickin dumb AND dumb?

It’s so sad they have such a lack of knowledge of history.

For years there were concerns of subliminal messages in advertising, but the way the video opened (and closed) was chilling with its “collective” mentality subtlely woven into the message.

I can’t believe that the same people calling for Bush’s head just a few yearas ago could actually partake in such a film.

Have they not seen the propaganda films of the dictatorships of the 20th century?

    I’m in shock….
    ….

….on the plus side – they all showed their faces so I know whose movies and shows to avoid.

I had forgotten about this creepy video. It puts a face on the concept of the Cult of the Messiah. If I had to cite one example of 2008 being an American Idol election, this creepy video would be it.

None of the participants appears to have an IQ higher than room temperature. I wonder how many of them would answer me honestly if they sat down with me face to face and I asked if they had voter remorse after what has transpired. I wonder if they’re even intelligent enough to understand.

None of these people should be allowed to vote again until they get an education.

My pledge? I pledge to defend my ideals with facts and knowledge, to speak up when people mindlessly repeat what they’ve been instructed to believe by the (self) Anointed amonst us. To let them know that view is not a concensus view, and that there are intelligent arguments that refute what they believe whether they choose to embrace them or not.

I pledge to do it calmly, and politely, and let them be the ones who fly off the handle — or change their minds.

I pledge to stop an echo, one echo at a time. I pledge to not shut up.

I pledge to fight this mindless march toward into uni-think, Newspeak, & Socialist utopianism.

Memory loss, also referred to as amnesia, is an abnormal degree of forgetfulness and/or inability to recall past events. Depending on the cause, memory loss may have either a sudden or gradual onset, and memory loss may be permanent or temporary. Memory loss may be limited to the inability to recall recent events, events from the distant past, or a combination of both. Although the normal aging process can result in difficulty in learning and retaining new material, normal aging itself is not a cause of significant memory loss unless there is accompanying disease that is responsible for the memory loss.
