Hands off my health care. Teeth off my hands.
When the story broke last night about a health care town hall scuffle in Thousand Oaks, Calif., that left one person without a part of his finger, it wasn’t clear who bit whom.
MoveOn activists were involved and their accounts colored much of the early coverage.
It now appears that the biter was an Obamacare supporter and the victim was an Obamacare foe.
Thankfully, doctors were able to reattach the severed digit.
No need to imagine the horrified fulminations from the White House to the New York Times to MSNBC if it had been the other way around.
Ed Morrissey looks at the mayhem and the possible charges that both the biter and the bitee (who reportedly threw a punch) might face.
Bob Owens rewrites the Obama-bots’ new motto: “Yes, We Can(nibal)!”
Opponents of socialized medicine must also adjust their chants:
Hands off my health care…and teeth off my hands!

Now, we know why!

That’s the last time he’ll use the retort “bite me”.
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will be denouncing the biter as an UnAmerican houligan in 3, 2, 1…
I wonder if the biter went to Wendy’s for some chili.
“Well, I asked him if he supported the President’s Health Care Plan and he said ‘Gnaw’. So I did.”
He should think himself lucky, at least his tonsils and feet are intact.
Oh my gosh! Guess the Bots were just trying to put some teeth into their argument.
Wonder if the biter is a vegitarian.
My thoughts exactly. Instaed you will most likely hear about how the bitter had to fend off a viscious attack to save his life from the hands of a 65 year old guy.
Does anyone know if it was the middle finger?
The article I read said it was part of his pinky finger.
No way to know at this point of course … but in addition to being MoveOn sponsored was there a bus or a purple shirt involved?
Maybe their philosophy is ‘Might makes Bite.’ They’ve banned pit bulls here in Denver. Perhaps they should ban libs too.
Confederate Yankee reports:
In English, a man trying to get to the MoveOn.Org rally got into an altercation with a free market supporter, and during the confrontation, the MoveOn.Org bit the man’s pinky finger off.
Reminds me of the Henny Youngman joke about the guy who said he hadn’t had a bite in three days … “so I bit him.”

Like a pundit said long ago–THEY TILTED THE COUNTRY ON THE WESTERN EDGE. ALL THE FRUITS AND NUTS ROLLED INTO KALIFORNIA AND STUCK THERE!
***
What a sick person to attack someone in this way. I hope there are some videos or photos so the perp can get some real jail time for this assault.
***
Maybe we could register his teeth as a deadly weapon. And a health check for AIDS and other diseases would be a smart thing to do.

Forget H1N1. We’d better make sure we’re up-to-date on our tetnus vaccinations.
Mark Steyn is subbing for Rush today and had a caller who was at this event and saw the whole thing. He said the bitter was ‘for’ and the older man was ‘against’ the health care bill. The caller said the bitter seemed to go for this older man and then the issue happened. The caller saw the blood and saw the older man leaving. He saw the finger was missing. The caller then started looking for the finger and found it in the road and went looking for the older man. He couldn’t find him. He went to the closest hospital and asked if someone had come in with a finger missing, they said yes, and he gave the finger to them to re-attach.
L
And they wonder why we bring guns with us when we protest.
Let’s hope the victim has had a rabies shot lately.
If that gentleman who lost his finger had been in the UK, Canada or under Obamacare, he would still be waiting for treatment and would have lost the finger for good.
Another doctor performing unecessary surgery. Did the bitee really need the tip of his finger or could he have lived the rest of his life without it in a relatively normal fasion. Evil capitalist money hungry greedy doctors.
This occured near my home. TO is ordinarily a peaceful, sleepy community. The local news says it was a pro-single payer supporter who bit the finger off a 65 year old man opposed to the obama plan. What the media leaves out is the “biter” crossed 6 lanes of traffic at a busy intersection to confront the “bitee”.
Errah the victim is currently covered by Medicare. Isn’t severed finger reattachment surgery one of the decisions the death panels will preside over? “This 65 year old white male has 9 other perfectly good fingers so why attach the 10th?” I don’t believe they’ll cover this type of frivolous surgery in 2010 if Obamacare get passed.
Complete story
So, if conservatives leave their guns at home, will liberals leave their teeth?
You mean, that in our awful, dreadful healthcare system, a man can actually have his severed finger immediately re-attached? Without a two month wait? Nah, can’t possibly be true.
Oh my weak America: where were the others in this terrible incident? Why wasn’t the Obaminite stopped-or at least TRY-right there and then? Wait for the police? Take note? Take a picture with your cell phone?
How about stomp the miscreant right then and there? Daily I give thanks for being raised in hard times and hard places. By the time we boys reached puberty no one thought of attacking the elderly, women or young in our neighborhood or where ever we went. Thugs, brutes? No, not at all but we did that which was right.
Oh my young people America embrace your heritage and quit listening to the weak sisters, wimps and cowards. Be the men God meant you to be. You may may turn your own cheek-BUT DEFEND THE DEFENSELESS-aka= stomp the punks.
Isn’t it typical for Democrats, who like to live off the taxpayer, to bite the hand that feeds them?
Watch out for foaming-at-the-mouth libtards (i.e. all of them).
Maybe it was Barney Frank. He probably thought it was his 11th digit.
When ya think about it, that man is VERY lucky it wasn’t Michael Moore who bit him, ain’t he!
Hell, under Obama care they would have removed his leg and thrown away the finger. In that state he would be declared not a viable member of a productive society and starved to death in the hospise basement.
Hmmm… but didn’t Obama say those mean and evil money-loving doctors are performing unnecessary amputations? Apparently it’s just rabid Obama supporters.
I will leave most of my guns at home-most. Carrying more than two at a time is a bit pretentious-one does not wish to be pretentious does one? (I think that was Batman)
Good. Now the victim should be able to finger his attacker.
Well played.
You’re a bad boy, JJ. Very bad.
http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2009/sep/03/healthcare-reform-opponent-loses-part-of-finger/
I guess he learned the hard way to be careful of who you punch in the face.
Great comments everyone!
Actually, this is probably the most efficient way to handle monitoring and redistribution in any plan, including one that would offer credits or other payments to low income individuals, if health insurance is to be mandated in any plan, conservative or liberal. It’s currently how the government redistributes income through earned income credit, 1st time homebuyer credit, etc.. Cuts down on the need for new departments and czars.
At his local hospital no less, where they have all that unnecessary equipment like MRI machines, and needles and thread and stuff. Why wasn’t he flown to France?
I’m also listening to Steyn cover for Rush and the caller who witnessed this incident.
It apparently happened so fast, witnesses were more concerned with the man and finding the finger. The caller said he walked through the crowd after taking the finger to the hospital, with a police officer, to try and find the attacker.
Details on that are still sketchy, even in the article you linked the initiating move was described as “defensive” to the distance.
Either way, I’ll assume you’re not applauding the biter’s action as being justified. Apparently he didn’t think so either since he ran off.
What gets me is they still claim Bush divided the country.
We are closer now to a Civil War than any time since 1865.
And it ain’t Bush’s fault.
I would NEVER condone violence of any kind. I would also never be at once of these events acting stupid or hitting people or screaming or biting fingers off. I feel no sympathy for either of the fools involved.
Somebody will snitch…we’ll find out who the biter was.
An aside:
And have you seen 65 yr. old men lately? They aren’t exactly feeble looking (American health care as it is currently).
Or, if you prefer, “Yes, We Can(nibble)!”
Now we know why Bill Clinton points with his thumb and a closed fist.
No we aren’t. You guys on the lunatic fringe may be(left & right) but the rest of us are watching and keeping our distance from the few of you.
I hope you all hurry up and fight it out so that we sane people can bury you all and get on with our country.
Near as I can tell, Hillary still has all her own teeth.
They still haven’t found the person who did it. I wonder if he swallowed any blood. Just wondering because I heard that poor old man who was attacked had a bunch of very bad diseases and being exposed to his blood will be fatal.
Moonshot, there are more ways of fighting a civil war, and in case you are thinking along the lines of black v.s. white, doesn’t have to be that way either. Move away from sticks n stones.
Fireman, maybe revolutionary war instead of civil? I’d like to see more unity along the lines of Beck’s 9/12 concepts.
I’d avoid the “never” in your absolute here. That is unless you also disagree with self-defense and most sports.
Your original post rather out-rightly suggested the biting victim had been taught a lesson by the biter as retribution for a punch that may or may not have been thrown first.
That seems to be at odds with a statement of never condoning any violence.
How can this be? You NEVER condone violence.
Let me see if I have this correct…
1. Wrestling is fake.
2. Town Hall meetings are real.
I always thought that had more to do with where his other fingers have been.
Good God. Come on liberals, don’t fight like a girl. Pretty soon that expression is going to be replaced with “you fight like an Obama supporter.”
Mike Tyson was unavailable for comment.
This puts the ‘giving someone the finger’ a whole new meaning.
RSS, do girls fight like that? I just thought they pulled each others’ hair.
So far, with these tea parties, the only biting has come from a guy.
But I do like your comment:
Can we quote you when we replace it?
No kidding Michael Moore would have gone back for seconds!
Tyson!!! That makes 2 guys so far!
Oh, now I’m starting to remember one girl with a pair of scissors…oooooo…. but maybe more classy?
moonshot: You seem VERY dispassionate (uninvolved) about so many things that really, really matter. You WON’T attend any Tea-Parties for fear of having your sensibilities rattled and you won’t stand up and FIGHT (if necessary) for your rights or those you seem to care about, i.e. your fellow countrymen.
You sound like so many of the sheepple in this country who fail to recognize there are wolves out there who would and will devour you and yours. Further, you fail to recognize those who protect you from the wolves do so not just for their own sakes, but for yours as well.
Ultimately, you will benefit from those who are willing to enter the ring…
…and will avoid suffering any of the consequences. However, should you survive, you, along with the other “cold and timid souls” will certainly reap the benefits.
Of course, if it turns out in a form with which you are not satisified, I am certain we will hear about it!
By all means!

Love it!
Good words 49. I’ve had to push myself at times to go to all the TPs and rallies around the area (laziness and the fear I’ll be asked to say something and I’ll sound like an idiot).
Thanks for the shove.
Sheesh. I really did not want to laugh at this unfortunate situation, but I couldn’t help myself after reading that.

sorry, I seem to h ve trouble typing the letter A right now with my missing pikny nd ll.
The next time I go to Tea Party, I’m NOT going to wash my hands before I go or clean my nails.
I just saw this story. What man goes and picks out a 65 yo man to confront? Not much of a man in my book. Gets close to him, that is call for a punch, when someone enters your personal space screaming, probably quite shrill as well. Then fights this 65 yo and probably was losing, the reason why he would bite and run. Are they sure it was not a real butch code pink gal?
I can hear the crying now if the roles were reversed. Liberals, is there any double standard that you do not love?
Nail 49, thanks for the TR quote. I’ve copied it to my hard drive.
I played sports my entire youth including college baseball(where I got my nickname/username from) and know the difference…I’m not sure what that has to do with buffoons fighting at a town hall that was not a sports event.
I don’t condone violence but its only human to be amused when it’s so bizarre and quite stupid.
In reality it will never happen. But, I’m not sure how that would make me condoning violence of others that I could never stop in the first place?
PS: Hi, Salt.
Yeah, we had an election and the people chose their President. In 2012, you have a opportunity to vote for who you want to be President and if he/she wins…I promise not to plot to have him/her removed or spend every waking moment freaking out over every move he/she makes since I believe in democracy and I’m not a sore loser.
I’m not a right wingnut nor a left moonbat…I’m in the majority thankfully.
Yep, just love that ole saying: “if ya can’t beat ‘em, bite off their finger”.
So that is how Obama is going to pay for universal health coverage, soylent green?
moonshot: So, where did you come down on Clinton when he was impeached for the exact same thing over which Nixon resigned, i.e. abuse of the power of the office of POTUS? At least one of them had the humility and the decency to step aside for the good of the country.
No matter who is President, Congressperson or SC Justice or whether or not I voted for or supported him/her, if they don’t uphold their oath of office, I will NOT sit and take it quietly. Yes, I can vote for whomever I wish, but as a citizen it is my duty to take public SERVANTS of whatever flavor to task for failing to do their duty!
If you are going to sit back and quietly let better men and women do your job, then quit yer gripin’! I have buried too many of my fellow warriors who were willing to lay their lives on the line for our country to worry about someone like you who merely wrings their hands and says to wait for an election to correct things when waiting is not warranted!
These pro Obama-Kennedy Care protesters are just a mob of bitter biters. They should change their slogan to Biting for Obama.
Is this what they mean by “biting commentary”?
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Health-care-reform-means-more-power-for-the-IRS-56781377.html
We’ve have always known that the supporters of this socialist healthcare manifesto were flesh eating ghouls of marginal intellect.
Does this mean that supporters of Obama-care are now into single-digits? (cue rim-shot)
It was more the absolutist argument of “never” that I was pointing out. Most people condone a certain amount of violence depending on the circumstances.
The circumstances in this case are rather muddy. It’s not real clear who hit who first yet. I’m guessing the senior pushed the guy away from him when he invaded his personal space. I agree that the physical fight is silly, but if the man crossed the street to get that close to the man, I’m skeptical that a physical altercation wasn’t exactly what he desired.
No matter how you look at this, though, biting his finger off was an extreme and unwarranted escalation for something like this. The perpetrator admits as much by fleeing the scene.
I thought your initial comment suggested an approval of that action based on being punched in the face (even though it’s not clear that happened).
I apologize if I misread your intent.
Yep, so much so that there’s a term for it: Schadenfreude. However, I thought that an absolute stance against violence was ironic when contrasted against that schadenfreude.
Um… You said “hurry up and fight it out… so [we] can bury you”. If you don’t see that as condoning violence (so long as you’re excluded), perhaps we’ll have to agree to disagree. I thought it was comically ironic.
PPS: Hi, moonshot.
umm, he is doing exactly what the people who elected him wanted him to do.
In fact, they aren’t happy with him currently because he hasn’t delivered on some things he promised. Maybe you missed his entire campaign? I guess abuse of power is a partisan viewpoint.
Anyway, carry on with the revolution.
That’s for sure…Praise the Lord and pass the Bear Spray.
I was thinking more along the lines of the ‘stink palm’ from “Mall Rats”
Well, we are in a digital age.
No, abuse of power is just that, abuse. Clinton was impeached for it, as was Nixon. As I said, one had the decency and humility to resign rather than drag the whole country through the muck.
I didn’t vote for Obama (DUH!) but it is his unconstitutional actions (running corporations, appointing people without Senate approval or checks and balances to shove stuff down our throats, etc, etc) that is raising my ire.
If you want to sit back and accept it with those who also voted him in, so be it. I, on the other hand, will not sit quietly and allow my country to be changed into something it was never intended to be by the Founding Fathers.
moonshot said:
I beg to differ. He is not doing what he promiced to do. In point of fact what he did was backtrack on everything he said he was going to do and outright lied on everything else. If you mean, Hopey Changey? The Hopey Changey thing was a catchy little phrase to make people think his, reign, would be different from President Bushes. People did not want to listen and the lame stream media did not report on his Socialist back ground and under reported on his spending of millions of tax payer dollars on a failed housing scheme in Chicago ad nauseum. And if you think I am wrong all you have to do is look at independent voter numbers, repub numbers and democrat numbers to know this. He and his ilk are swirling down the toilet.
the guy was just on cavuto, and they wouldn’t reattach the finger due to bacteria in the mouth making it a good candidate for serious infection. he said he punched the guy when the guy got into his face and that’s when his pinky ended up being bitten off. he was casual. the police are looking for the other guy. there appears a 25 year age disparity or so between biter and bitee who is mid 60′s.
lol Yeah, Fox news, McCain and Palin kept his associations very quiet and the ones who voted him were totally tricked and had NO clue. lol
He ran on the promise of this exact health care reform and I don’t even get the rest of your comment. It’s obvious you didn’t vote for him and so I’m lost as to why you care about his Hope and Change…you voted not to have any so…
moonshot said:
Then by your logic all his hopey changey Health Care, hopey changey Cap and Tax, hopey changey Tax the Wealthy, if there are that many left, Hopey Changy Green Jobs and all the rest of his agenda should be sailing through without a peep right?
He ran on Health Care Reform but never defined what that was and nobody really knows that that is. All anybody knows is the tripe thats been leaked out and that is bad enough. As for McCain/Palin – I did not hear of plain loads of Lawyers and reporters decending on Chicago to Ferret out anything and everything about President Empty Suit, do you know something we all do noit?

If some moonbat bit off any of my parents’ fingers, criminal charges would be the least of his worries.
The ones who voted for Da One 1) believed that Fox News, McCain, and Palin lied, 2) did so just because he is “black” (despite having a white mother), 3) honestly believed that a Chicago politician would do what he promised, 4) thought they would get something out of his election (“Pay my mortgage! Pay for my car! Buy my gas!”), 5) knew and agreed with everything he believes rather than what he said, 6) just hated Republicans because of George W. Bush, or 7) had no clue. And, it’s not a laughing matter.
Hope is not a plan; not all change is good. WE are the civilian national security force! Bite me, and the only thing you’ll be able to chew in the future will be milquetoast, if that. The resistance is here; the resistance is now! RESIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
