Montel Williams has a murder wish for Rep. Michele Bachmann

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 4, 2009 08:56 AM

Montel Williams is now a moonbat talk show host for Air America.

The formerly civil TV personality is now a foaming-at-the-mouth nutroots-panderer who wishes GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann dead.

Radio Equalizer Brian Maloney reports:

WILLIAMS (1:30:32): Michelle, slit your wrist.

Go ahead… or, do us all a better thing [sic].

Move that knife up about two feet.

Start right at the collarbone.

Where are the civility police when you need them, huh?

***

Maybe Montel Williams is auditioning for Democrat Rep. Pete Stark Raving Mad’s seat when he retires.

He was mocking Bachmann’s typically crazy rhetoric, which is even more clear if you isten to what he says after the part MM cherry picks. That was no more a serious death wish than it is when I jokingly say “such and such’s post makes me want to blow my brains out” and other posters here jokingly (I hope) reply back something to the effect of “I’ll let you borrow my gun.”

If he had stopped with the slit your wrists part you might have a point. But he suggested she move that knife on up to slit her throat. That’s more than mocking.

BTW what’s ‘crazy’ about using a common (if slightly hyperbolic) illustration on making an agreement? Becoming ‘blood brothers’ by a superficial slicing of the wrists, pressing them together so that blood is exchanged, etc. is not an uncommon way of sealing a pact. That’s what Bachmann was talking about, not slicing the wrists to commit suicide.

I thought Air America was dead, too. Guess not.

I’ve lost whatever respect I had for Montel. Haven’t watched his show since the 90′s.

Bachamann offered to slit her wrist. Williams just said: “Don’t let me stop you.” The death wish came from the conservative nut herself. Williams was just reporting it, with a little justified amusement.

Did you cover the conservative preacher praying for Obama to die? Did you cover the conservative Christian who kidnapped and raped a girl and held her captive for 18 years, only to be found out when he brought her children to a tea party? Did you cover the conservative Christian family values Dean of Pat Robertson University who (the family values family) participated in statutory rape?

As for foaming-at-the-mouth, Williams was more calm than MM. He didn’t raise his voice, which is more than one can say about the conservative promoters of political hate: MM, Limbauch, Hannity, Beck, etc., who work themselves into a lather every time.

Yep, it is entirely in poor taste to advocate for the death of anyone, icluding politicians. (Exceptions, criminaly convicted individuals where the penalty is death.)

Like in the case of this fellow, Steven Anderson. This is in poor taste.

Accepting that many things are agenda driven, and certain statements made by others will not make it to certain BLOGS, my hope is that everyone commenting on what Montel Williams said, will have the same comments for Steven Anderson.

BTW lgm, that nutcase is in no way a ‘conservative Christian’ – no “Christian” would do such a thing. That’s why Christ told us that we would know the phony’s by their fruit – in other words, by their actions.

    Can’t believe I’m bothering with the troll….

Yet more hypocrisy from the Liberals. They go on and on about the evil, violent, awful Conservatives and Republicans, thes claim to be all about peace, love, unity, non-violence etc., yet they are constantly, CONSTANTLY, making violent statements like this.

And their mouthpieces in the MSM lets it happen, and the average non-informed American believes it, not to mention the rest of the world.

They project themselves upon us with every breath they take.

I love leftists. They keep my irony meter at full strength by providing such powerful examples. Like this one by lgm:

Bachamann offered to slit her wrist.

So he posted this just over an hour after Wayfaring Stranger had already answered this with this post:

Do you honestly think Bachmann’s comment was about committing suicide?

Context is everything: …make a covenant…be blood brothers on this thing…

Everyone is hung up on the slit our wrists part while ignoring the rest of what she said.

Montel was wrong to conflate that with suicide – and worse, to suggest she do it more efficiently by slitting her throat.

Even the part of her speech that Montel quoted made this crystal clear that her point was that we need to make a blood pact to put a stop to this atrocity. It takes someone who refuses to see this to think that she’s talking about suicide. And of course, lgm demonstrated his refusal to understand.

That said, I do think that Rep Bachmann did misspeak. As far as I know, a blood oath is not sealed by slitting wrists, but generally by slicing the palm. Or at least that’s how it’s usually done on TV. ;) I just did some checking, and it seems that the oath takers slicing the forearm and pressing them together is one of the common ways of sealing such an oath.

Still, “slitting the wrist” is a poor way to put it. And taking her words out of context to twist her statement from a blood oath into begging someone to commit suicide is clear example of deliberate sophistry.

Hmmmmm …. just out of curiosity I went and checked out Glenn Beck’s comment about ‘poisoning’ Pelosi.

It is a segment where he’s joking around with someone wearing a cardboard Pelosi face, and they are drinking wine and Beck doesn’t even say the full word.

Compare that to Montel’s nasty comment. There is no comparison.

One thing you can always count on with the left: When they draw a moral equivalence there is never actual moral equivalence.

Over the years I’ve seen blood oaths portrayed in both manners. Forearms and palms. Those were considered completely binding. Spit in the palm and a firm handshake were utitlized for less serious endeavors, but were still considered an important bond.

Hey, we’re talking Air Amerika, right? For that bunch, this was civilized discourse.

What bothers me is that since Obama’s election, the country has (no surprise) been more deeply divided than at any time in recent history. Instead of being the post-racial president, he’s the racist president. Instead of being post-partisan, he’s the hyper-partisan president. Instead of bringing us together through compromise, he seems to think bipartisanship means capitulation by anyone who doesn’t accept his solution, which I think more and more clear thinking people are seeing is bigger government, less individual liberty, more collectivism at one level or another. In Obamaland, the individual is of no importance, its the collective, controlled by the state. That’s what cap-and-trade is about, that’s what government control of industry is about, that’s what health care “reform” is about…that’s everything, in the view of Obama and his acolytes. This country is in serious danger, and the Montel Williams or Van Jones or Valerie Jarretts are just minor symptoms.

We should probably “cut Montel Williams some slack” on his comment. It seems more like hyperbole or sarcasm than like a serious comment. Also–this man has a lot of real medical problems in his life–maybe they are affecting his judgement.
    ***
I like Michelle Bachmann also–but I think her “blood sister” comment was a little over the top–kind of like some of Ann Coulter’s sarcastic comments.
