The resignation (and coming MSM/left-wing martyrdom) of Van Jones; Obama “thanks him for his service”

Bay Area Marxist/Truther/Mumia-supporting race hustler-turned-environmental justice guru Van Jones has resigned from his post as Barack Obama’s green jobs czar.
In classic Team Obama style, Jones blames an orchestrated “campaign” of “lies and distortions to distract and divide.” Get ready for the coming media/left-wing martyrdom of Jones. Never mind his own apologies and weasel excuses for his radical views.
The mainstream media, which has ignored criticism and investigative analysis of Jones in the blogosphere/Internet since the spring (see, for example, here, here, here, here) repeats the lie that Fox News Channel’s Glenn Beck targeted Jones only after the czar’s organization, Color of Change, initiated a boycott against Beck at the beginning of August:
Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck repeatedly denounced Jones after a group the adviser co-founded, ColorofChange.org, led an advertising boycott against Beck’s show to protest his claim that Obama is a racist.
The Washington Post’s Howard Kurtz also disseminated that distortion. Newsbusters’ Noel Sheppard corrected the record last month for the clueless MSM. They persist in ignoring the truth:
Howard Kurtz on Sunday accused Fox News’s Glenn Beck of attacking White House “green czar” Van Jones in response to the advertiser boycott implemented by Color of Change, an advocacy group founded by Jones.
Such a conclusion seems to stem from all the time Beck spent on his program last week chronicling Jones’s activities as well as his background.
What Kurtz conveniently ignored in this installment of CNN’s “Reliable Sources” was that Beck did two reports on Jones prior to the start of Color of Change’s campaign to get companies to end their sponsorship of Beck.
Ironically, this came as Kurtz chided Beck for not sharing all the facts with his viewers…
…Well, here’s a little detail Kurtz neglected to mention: Beck discussed Van Jones’s radical background on July 23 –
Obama’s new green czar, Van Jones, this is a guy who is a self-avowed communist, and he is in the Obama administration. He says in his book that has been out now for about four months, “The Green Collar Economy,” subtitle: “How One Solution Can Fix Two Big Problems,” that the best way to fight global warming and urban poverty is by creating millions of green jobs.
This guy wasn’t a radical, and then was arrested. He spent six months in jail, came out a communist. Then he was a communist-anarchist radical. And then he decided — he found the eco-movement — and decided green is the new red. He then went on to become a green expert.
A percentage of these jobs, he says, should go to the disadvantaged and to the chronically unemployed. Well, why are they chronically unemployed? “The green economy should not just be about reclaiming thrown- away stuff. It should be about reclaiming thrown-away communities.”
And again on July 28:
BECK: All right. You know, what we’re uncovering here on this program is complex, and it is — it takes a lot of our day just to figure out how to explain it to you. And it’s complex by design. You know, it’s the vast left-wing conspiracy.
The Apollo Alliance combines environmental policy, the green movement, with labor and social justice. Why is that troubling? Maybe it’s the guy behind the curtain making it all happen. He’s a former black nationalist and self-professed communist.
Here is Phil Kerpen. He is the director of policy for Americans for Prosperity.
Phil, how are you, sir?
PHIL KERPEN, AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY: I’m good, Glenn. How are you?
BECK: Good. Tell me about — tell me a little bit about Apollo and these — I have ACORN and the Black Farmers and the Sierra Club and Greenpeace and AFL-CIO and SEIU. Why are these thee categories — how are they tied to Apollo?
KERPEN: Well, the Apollo Alliance is designed to bring together the elements of organized labor with the community organizers with the green groups, the environmental groups, and to access all of the big foundation money that’s been supportive of those causes in the past. So, it’s kind of — Van Jones, who you mentioned, the self-described communist who is now green jobs czar, he described the Apollo Alliance mission as sort of a grand unified field theory for progressive left causes that ties all these things together.
Instead of compensating for their willful failure to cover Jones’s radicalism by informing their readers about the full story, Obama water-carriers are helping the administration with its own campaign of distortion.
The story is not just about Beck or Fox or us racist conservatives martyring Van Jones.
The story is not just about Jones.
The story is about Adolfo Carrion, Carol Browner, Vivek Kundra, Nancy DeParle, John Holdren, Cass Sunstein, Mark Lloyd, Obama’s education comrades, and the culture of circumvention and corruption that plagues this White House.
They don’t get it. They’re in the tank. Behind the curve. And slouching towards irrelevance.

Gotta love the lead paragraph of the NYTimes’ story on Jones today:
In a victory for Republicans and the Obama administration’s conservative critics, Van Jones resigned as the White House’s environmental jobs “czar” on Saturday.
Republicans in Washington were bringing up the rear. This was no victory for them.
Let’s rewrite that sentence:

The Times continues:
Appointed as a special adviser for “green jobs” by President Obama, Mr. Jones did not go through the traditional vetting process for administration officials who must be confirmed by the Senate. So it was not until recently that some of Mr. Jones’s past actions received broad airing, including his derogatory statements about Republicans in February and his signature on a 2004 letter suggesting that former President George W. Bush might have knowingly allowed the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to occur in order to use them as a “pre-text to war.”
And we should add an important fact to that paragraph, too:

GEORGE: Does the president believe that he is the victim of a smear campaign or does the president think that Jones actions and words merit resignation?
GIBBS: “Well what Van Jones decided was that the agenda of this president was bigger than any one individual. The president thanks Van Jones for his service in the first eight months helping to coordinate renewable energy jobs and lay the foundation for our future economic problem…The president accepted his resignation, but Van Jones as he said in his statement he was going to get in the way of the President.”
GEORGE: So the president doesn’t endorse in any way the things that Van Jones said before but the president doesn’t want him to go?
GIBBS: He doesn’t but he thanks him for his service.”

I admit to being surprised that he resigned — which may be why I’m not a high-paid beltway pundit like Jonah Goldberg. Van Jones was after all exactly what Obama and his team wanted: a race-hustler able to spout bulljive on cue (“It should be about reclaiming thrown-away communities“), a marxist, and a “truther” (a term I loathe but once again we appear to be stuck with it). So what was there not to love? I can only guess at this point that Obama is focused on his KopechneCare push and van Jones was viewed as a serious distraction to that effort. Good riddance and all that, but Obama will find someone to appoint soon enough who is just as bad if not even worse. Yes, that is possible.
Even now Wash.Post didn’t seem to get it. Just read it’s “reporting” about it. Thankfully, majority of it’s Commenters are educating the liberal columnist & the paper with their thorough insightful comments.
Jones is only the tip of the iceberg in this administration. There is a lot more work to do.

the blame game will begin shortly, liberals love playing the victim. it’s always some else at fault, and it’s always a “conspiracy”, such suspense. but not to worry, wouldn’t be at all suprised to find van jones the victim, in a position that zero is still calling on for guidance. zero too plays the blame game and the victim part as much as he can so he knows the drill. taking responsibility for their actions is not a liberal strong point.

The manner in which politics is conducted in this city has hit bottom and has dug deeper. But I am surprised at the outrage (from the other side) and what seems to be very short-term memeory. I see this as a mirror image of politics as practiced by ‘the other side’ from 2000 to 2008. IOW, those who are ‘in’ are facing a mirror image of themselves now.
Second, after what has been revealed about this person’s public statements, which are a window into his private thoghts, he no more deserves a position of power than would late Senator Theodore G. Bilbo, if ressurected and in charge.
Next, that this person was, and without vetting by Congress, placed into a postion of power shows a lack of regard for the system of checks and balances, and judgement.
Last its a sad state of the political choice made by the American electorate, who I feel, did as with President Ford by somehow ‘getting back at Nixon’, voted for an incompetent, also voted for the current (and hopefully short-term) occupant of the WH simply because they wanted to ‘get back’ at George Bush.
You get what you vote for.

Czars under Obama frighten us–those Czars under Republicans should have also–little cracks become big ones and eventually the damn collapses. Green Jobs = Government jobs, jobs created for useless people who nobody in their right mind would hire anyway.
This reminds me of those stimulus shovel-ready projects. The only ones I’ve seen are resurfacing long stretches of secondary state highways that had no problems to begin with. Sit in a long line of traffic for 20 minutes (with the motor running) waiting for your turn to go.

What a dumb question! The smears were not based on rumor and innuendo but on indisputable facts about Jones’ past statements, actions and affiliations that, not that long ago, would have disqualified anyone from not only government employment, but being an American.
Yet the only thing Georgie Boy is interested is how the president feels? How cute. The question should have been: “What was the president thinking appointing this guy in the first place?”

For those of us on this blog, and for others with their eyes wide open, we knew Obama was the Manchurian Candidature, a thinly veiled radical and socialist with past ties to scum like Ayers, and Wright. Thus his standing behind a communist like Jones is no surprise at all. The fact that he does not even disavow Jones is just additional proof for people in this Country of Obama’s true nature. We may not get many answers (because I believe they are secretly glad that he’s ‘out’) but any we do receive would give us more insight (or incite!) into who to vote for in 2010 +.

This was just to soothe the public opposition. obama will still have contact with him on his views of green jobs & if he choose to replace him with another czar they will work in tandum regulating the rules. If I was the side that Jones is really on, has been on, is going to attempt to get back in bed with, I’m not sure I’d want him back either. He switched sides and denied and disavowed stuff awfully quickly when the lights came on. In other words I don’t know if I would trust him. Jones clearly did not stand by his convictions. Convictions he made clearly in his statements and documents over the last few years.
So maybe he’s shot himself in the foot?
Has anyone ever brought up the point that his background has nothing to do with “green”? His only apparent qualification for being the “Green Jobs czar” is that he has been an anti-American, anti-white, racist communist agitator. Isn’t that, after all, what the “green movement” is all about?
He was hired, like all other appointees, to redirect yet more money away from the purpose it was approved for and into the hands of cronies who will further the Marxist totalitarian agenda.
The President has known Mr Jones for years but he DID NOT hear anything he said for 15 years. The president is joining a new church immediately.

Like this President, he’s a Harvard lawyer, but couldn’t take time to read the 9/11 “truther” petition that he signed and “didn’t know what it said”? His preparation is nearly complete. Jones may be out at green jobs czar, but another with less of a video trail but the same ideology will replace him. Jones may still have Obama’s ear in some other capacity.

I think the reason for his resignation is the growing public sentiment about the czars and lack of any oversight of their appointment or activities.

If anyone thinks Jones resigned voluntarily, keep in mind that he did so just in time to catch the full impact of the Sunday morning news shows.
I’m watching Fox News right now and, unfortunately for the Republicans, they are parading the same lame losers: Gingrich and Lamar (“Fresh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh ideas!”) Alexander. This would have been an excellent opportunity for the GOP to demonstrate that they are no longer tone deaf themselves. Dream on. The Kabuki theater goes on.
There is another fact not being talked about that was exposed with Mr. Jones, which was that he was in charge of $30 billion dollars with no congressional vetting or oversight.
I have heard there are at least 34 czars now so how much money is on control of these other people and who are they exactly? If each controlled as much as Mr. Jones, that is 34 x $30 billion = $1 Trillion dollars in control of these czars.
Has anyone looked into exactly how much money these “czars” are controlling? This is bypassing the Legislative branch of our government because all spending is suppose to be controlled by the House.

Jones is no longer the green jobs czar, but this doesn’t diminish the ideological congruence Obama has with him.
Picking off individual Obama czars is like painting the Eiffel tower: it’s a job that will never end. The real problem is that these numerous czar posts exist at all. The proper way to send Van Jones away would have been by putting a stop to the entire czar approach. To advocate the dismissal of Van Jones, rather than the closing of the post he held, is to accept the premise that it’s appropriate for these czarships to stand.

On Fox, Lamar Alexander just ducked the question on Van Jones. “It’s not about Jones as much as it is about czars in government.” What a limp noodle.
And Chris Wallace just bestowed the mantle of conservative leader on Newt.
That’s why the GOP needs to clean house. They are just lame Assistant Democrats. And don’t fall into the trap of believing that Fox is on our side on much of anything. They are onboard with open borders, cap and trade, bipartisanship and one-world government. Believe it. We are on our own and that has been good enough to get us this far.

A little reported, unsubtantuated rumor has that Jones flew to Las Vegas overnight, found an out of work “lady” to hastily marry so he could issue the following statement: “After over six months of a distguished career in goverment service during which I saved over 7 million green jobs I have decided to retire to spend more time with my new family…”

The only thing “classic” about this is it’s similarity to radical Islamic rhetoric, and use of the “martyr” meme.

BTW, the only green tech the feds are investing in currently is wind power. China keeps dumping inferior solar cells well below cost and the applications of solar are too low impact to make a difference.

I believe that this story about Van Jones is not focused on what’s most important. What is much more important that this Marxist race-hustler is how he was promoted and appointed. I also read that his “green” book was written by a professional writer and editor. This Van Jones was sacrificed to make the trail less obvious, but his promoters are still in charge and this is where the story should focus. I agree with Michelle, that there appears to be a new class of rulers who are not accountable to the public, are unelected, and wield great power over our country. They are the ones we need to focus on and go after.
Van Jones resigned…That may be, but, Mr. President, you are who you associate with. As for the rest of the Tsars, congress needs to come down on them like swarm of African Bees.
I wonder if the Interloper in Chief ever considered that maybe this guy’s background wasn’t appropriate in the first place …

Don’t think for a moment the environmental movement within the Obama administration will be less radical. For every one Van Jones out there, Obama has surrounded himself with 10 radical, kool-aid careerists and whackos to take up the slack.
