What happens when you ask politicians how they’ll pay for Obamacare

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 6, 2009 09:46 AM

A simple question for Democrat Obamacare supporters: How are you going to pay?

Three snort-inducing responses caught on tape (via hourglass1941, h/t the Jawa Report):

1) Walk away.

2) Babble.

3) Wellness programs.

Watch it. No question the politicians consider the citizen questioner a rude, unruly mobster/Talibani/right-wing terrorist. How dare she challenge authority!

But now check out Howard Kurtz’s story on why Van Jones is gone especially the mention of Glenn Beck, then read MM’s column on Glenns efforts. I believe Michelle because I watched Glenn’s show then and the silence of MSM. It is unbelievable that our press (MSM) both print and electronic are covering Obama’s ass in everything. Thank God for Michelle, Glenn, Rush and all you other folks taking the hits from “elites”, RINOS, Liberals for the heroic work you do. As someone who has seen and heard the difference we should be thankful to AlGore for inventing this gift for us. What continues to bother me the most about the political environment today is the public’s apathy over the idiots that they elect to represent them. Are we as a society so afraid of introspection that we cannot even admit that the people we voted for are crooks and scam artists? Surely, in our quietest moments, we could look at our senator/representative/governor/mayor and say “couldn’t we have done better?”

How many people from Massachesetts wake up each day and say, “That Barney Frank is the best we could do!”? Of all the people in Long Beach, California, Laura Richardson is the brightest of the bright? Maxine Waters? Arlen Spectre?

Both sides of the aisle are filled with people I would rather see in prison than holding the reins of power. Once in place, they forget who they represent and use those reins to choke us and our freedoms, ensuring their place at the top.

President Obama recently spoke about the need for American families to start putting money away in savings…BEWARE!!! On one hand, he rattles on about spending to help the ecomony, and now, on the other, he wants America to save? DANGER…a Democrat is talking about SAVING money…this is pure fiction, but ignore it at your peril!

All kinds of “Red Flags” went up on this one when I heard about it. Look into the details of just how he want to go about this; “We know that automatic enrollment has made a big difference in participation rates by making it simpler for workers to save.” So says Obama.

    a) New federal steps that do not require congressional action? (A-hem…NO oversight?) He goes on to describe a plan called SIMPLE-IRAs, that can automatically increase the amount (unless workers object…object?)

    b) Allowing people to check a box so that federal tax returns can be sent in the form of U.S. Savings Bonds. (Wow, what a great investment!) Why? We know that more than 100 million households receive refund checks each year, and many are promptly cashed and spent.” Duh, really? Doesn’t that help the economy?

    c) Allowing workers, when leaving a job, to direct unused vacation pay to a retirement savings account rather than taking it in cash. (We can already do that if we wish, no?)

This is what is really unsettling:

Back eariler this year, when Obama took office, that brilliant money manager, George Miller (D) of California, “suggested” that the government “take overprivate pension accounts and IRAs, so that they could run them. He was hushed, and the matter was pushed aside…or was it?

There has never been anything that has accumulated value, that the government Democrats have not tried to, or achieved getting their little grubbies on. Nothing, that is, except private pension and savings accounts. The aforementioned action, would accumulate vast monetary resources, and would be “ripe for the picking” for any socialist congress. What crisis would precipitate the taking of these funds?

In California, the PERS accounts have been previously raided. Just this year, there was a proposal to raid the Fish and Game account…the fund that receives the monies that sportsmen pay for their state licenses for hunting and fishing. These monies were taken because of a “CRISIS”, and although they promised to re-pay the “borrowed” funds, to my knowledge, they never have been.

This is just another power and money grab, and needs to be defeated. IT’s OUR MONEY, not theirs!

This reminds me of the Winston Churchill line, when he heard the US had finally entered WWII: “You can depend on the Americans to do the right thing, once they’ve exhausted the alternatives.”

I call Bullsh*t on the Prince of Bullsh*t: What Churchill said on America’s entry into World War II was:

“I had studied the American Civil War, fought to the last desperate inch ….I went to bed and slept the sleep of the saved and the thankful.”

    - and -

“No American will think it wrong of me if I proclaim that to have the United States at our side was to me the greatest joy. I could not fortell the course of events. I do not pretend to have measured accurately the martial might of Japan, but now at this very moment I knew the United States was in the war, up to the neck and in to the death. So we had won after all! … Hitler’s fate was sealed. Mussolini’s fate was sealed. As for the Japanese, they would be ground to powder.”

This last one isn’t a Churchill quote, but there’s somebody here who should pay attention to it’s lesson:

That said, the CBO has scored the Democratic House bill as deficit neutral.

Laughable, but who cares? The QUALITY OF CARE mandated by the House Bill is the equivalent of a cup of hemlock.

I do not want the IRS sharing my finanacial data with the rest of the Federal Government. I do not want anyone but my doctor determining the care I can get, if I am willing to pay for it out of my own pocket.

If the House Bill is “deficit neutral” why isn’t Medicare? Why isn’t Social Security? Private health plans and pension plans are.

The enforcement mechanism over this smelling pile of dung is the size of the Rocky Mountains. How mush ARE the administrative costs? What percent of the money paid in compared to the private world? Hmmmmmmmm?

That’s why politicians are so dangerous. They never think things all the way through, and they never consider the law of unintended consequences.

And just for grins and giggles, here’s a link to the head of the CBO‘s blog, which contains this statement: Large budget deficits would reduce national saving, leading to more borrowing from abroad and less domestic investment, which in turn would depress economic growth in the United States. Over time, accumulating debt would cause substantial harm to the economy.

    Wayfaring stranger,

Good call – from what I can see, everyone attributes this quote to Churchill but no one can prove he actually said it. The idea of the quote apparently comes from his daughter who said she heard him say it so the whole thing could be BS.

One way or another, Churchill – in his autobiography – stated that he didn’t care for Roosevelt and the US Government at the time. He did, however, like the idea of our endless resources and ability to field large numbers of fighting men and machines. Much like Lincoln “Freeing” the slaves, Churchill’s wish for us to enter the war was almost entirely tactical. He knew we would take sides and he could barely hold his ground against Germany. If we had sided with the Nazis (in 1939/40, that was a real possibility) England would have fallen within weeks.

As for his drinking and smoking – in his autobiography he doesn’t deny it. Also, people didn’t see it as a negative back then. He never says he drank a quart of gin a night but that’s the rumor. He does say that he smoked cigars constantly. He was obviously a great man.

LGM misquoted the alleged quote and took it out of context in order to prove once again that liberals hate America at all costs.

“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries”

In other words, the only thing bad about capitalism is that not everyone is equally blessed. On the other hand, the only good thing about socialism is that everyone suffers.
