Newt Gingrich on the couch with Obama & Al Sharpton

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 8, 2009 03:11 PM

This is what happens when you get too much Beltway on the brain.

Newt Gingrich — who sidled up on a couch with Nancy Pelosi for one of Al Gore’s global warming ad campaigns — championed President Obama’s education speech today.

Subtext be damned.

Gingrich, you should know, has been on a summer road trip with police-bashing, violence-inciting, race charlatan Al Sharpton and Obama Education Secretary Arne Duncan:

The tour starts Sept. 29 in Philadelphia, heads to New Orleans on Nov. 3 and then to Baltimore on Nov. 13 — cities selected for what they can teach others about school reform.

Gingrich paid homage to Sharpton earlier this spring along with Vice President Joe Biden.

Sharpton is an agent of hate with nothing — I repeat, nothing — of value to contribute to the school reform debate.

Keep this self-serving traveling circus away from America’s classrooms.

Politics in the age of Kennedy, Clinton, Bush, and Obama have become far more of a contact sport than in recent decades. The days of looking good in legacy media sound bites are giving way to the scrutiny of the internet.

Why is Laura not being criticized for doing the same? It’s in the same freaking article she cites.

As I read the following, it is pretty clear to me that Laura Bush is criticizing the “subtext’ of political indoctrination.

In an interview with CNN from Paris, where she is part of a U.N. mission on global literacy, Bush praised Obama for doing a good job but faulted the Education Department for issuing lesson plans suggesting that kids write letters on how they could help Obama, guidance since rescinded.

The former schoolteacher and librarian also said she hopes parents will echo the president and “encourage their own children to stay in school and to study hard and to try to achieve the dream that they have.”

“Impish twinkle”, or not, I generally find your arguments well reasoned, and challenging, although based on a liberal foundation. I think that today

And he is far too eager to sell out those principles he once represented to get the faux approval of those lefties. He needs to find a quiet place and reflect on his insecurities. Doing so in public is simply too embarrassing to watch.

This may come as a surprise to some, but there are a lot of politicians to whom politics is nothing more than a big “game”. They put on a face every day, play “politics”, then go home at night and become themselves once again.

Newt is one of those game-players, if you haven’t noticed already. He occasionally says things that Conservatives want to hear, then goes on to hob-nob with other politicians of every stripe afterwards.

Newt really only thinks about himself, not the good of the country. That’s why he committed suicide by getting a divorce and dropping out of Congress.

Newt is a bridge to nowhere because his act is as phony as a three-dollar bill.

Btw, it’s interesting to put the “game-player” matrix over some of the other people involved in the Conservative movement. It’s a real eye-opener.

Can’t speak for anyone else but I am very dissapointed in Laura Bush. As someone who supported Mr. Bush for most of his eight years as President and Laura , they of all people shoud see the threat Obama poses to our nation and to the Children of this country with his Socialism, Czars, and general lack of control in the ones he associates himself with on a daily basis.

The problem that I have with Newt is that he is just playing a game, trying to make a living off of taking an occasional “Conservative” stance that he really doesn’t mean.

I don’t expect perfection in a Conservative, but I do expect him or her to to believe in what they preach, and Newt only believes in what Newt happens to want at the moment.

Newt is nothing more than a polished actor, living off an image he created our of whole cloth.

They do not see it at all. Virtually all of the career Republicans don’t. The GOP are the French and British governments in 1938. They thought they are dealing with Germans. They were not. They were dealing with Nazis hell bent on conquest; something Germany traditionally never was.

I repeat, these are NOT DEMOCRATS that we are facing.

The real story about Obamas speech to students is that the American people DO NOT TRUST Obama. We had no idea what he might do and we were frightened about what he may do.

We know he is a liar. You can not sit in the racist Jeremiah Wrights church for twenty years and not know what was going on there. He lied to our face about that (just like Bill Clinton).

That means that his story about not being a close associate to Bill Ayers is also VERY suspect. And Bill Ayers IS a very radical “terrorist” who has turned his focus to educating our children. Having Bill Ayers ideas taught to our children is bad bad bad.

Perhaps Obama thinks it is good. Thats what makes the whole thing stink. A liar trying to teach our children something that we don’t know what it is. And he is probably lying about his Bill Ayers connections and may be teaching Ayers philosophy.

Liar=No trust= uproar over access to our children. Sounds like a logical outcome. Why the problem you ask?

When the indoctrination was first concocted I think people were right to be concerned since it revolved around gleaning support for the president and not focused on educational goals, even if it was accidental (I don’t believe it myself). The WH changed the format to focus on education and that should be the end of it (although we are all more alert as a result). I disagree with our hostess on continuing to beat this horse. They tried, they were caught, they adjusted in a reasonable way. Let it go- but remain vigilant.

Sorry, the guy IS running for president. This is what he does every time he is about to release another phony/baloney book. It’s not about agreeing or disagreeing with what he says, it is what he does. He is a charlatan who has worn out his act with movement conservatives. Go away Newt.

Exactly correct. Newt lost me when he sold us out on the Contract with America and his principles to boot. He cannot be trusted – as his former wife can attest.

Hanging with Sharpton? Are you kidding me? I KNOW Sharpton – I had many occasions to “interract” with him and his black union thugs over jobs at construction sites in Brooklyn over 25 years ago when he was starting his race-baiting career. The “good Rev” is a despicable piece of trash, and anyone who lends him any semblance of credibility – as Newt does by hanging with him – is no better than he is. As Phil says … “go away, Newt.”

Why do our congressional clunkers not concerned with what is right for America, but seem overly concerned what is right for them. Us against them, all of them, has never been clearer.
