Foxes & henhouse: DOJ to probe New Black Panther Party case

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 10, 2009 07:26 AM

Attorney General Eric Holder, Team Obama’s Dirty Dozen (get your trading cards here)

Thanks to Doug Powers for guest-blogging last night while I was in Washington, D.C. My publisher, Regnery, threw a lovely book party at Morton’s Steakhouse. Culture of Corruption is #1 on the New York Times best-seller list for the 6th week in a row.

One of the corrupt-i-est members of Team Obama, of course, is Attorney General Eric Holder. The Washington Times reports today that the DOJ Office of Professional Responsibility is probing the shenanigans in Holder’s department that led to the unprecedented dismissal of default judgments against the New Black Panther Party thugs who wielded a night stick and intimidated voters and poll workers on Election Day in Philadelphia.

But given how recent probes into the corrupt activities of Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, and Charlie Rangel have turned out, take the news with a massive grain on salt:

The Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility has begun an official inquiry into the dismissal in May of a civil complaint against the New Black Panther Party and two of its members who disrupted a Philadelphia polling place during the November general elections.

The inquiry is disclosed in an Aug. 28 letter to Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee who first raised questions about the dismissal in May and asked unsuccessfully that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. make available the head of the department’s Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division for a closed-door briefing on the decision.

In the letter, Mary Patrice Brown, acting OPR counsel, told the veteran congressman from Texas that the office had “initiated an inquiry into the matter” and that it would “contact you with the results of our inquiry once it is completed.” A copy of the letter was obtained by The Washington Times.

“I am pleased that someone at the Justice Department is finally taking the dismissal of the New Black Panther Party case seriously,” Mr. Smith said Wednesday. “The Justice Department’s decision to drop a case against political allies who allegedly intimidated voters on Election Day 2008 reeks of political interference.”

“Reeks of political interference.” A perfect description of Eric Holder’s career.

First things first … Congratulations Michelle on still being #1 on the best seller list …

Regarding that I had an interesting thing happen yesterday while going through the security checkpoint at the Detroit airport …

In the tray with my shoes, etc., was my copy of “Culture of Corruption” … one of the young screeners looked intently at the cover and then pointed it out to 2 of his co-workers … one male and one female … saying “check that book out” …

Being in a heavily Democrat area my first thought was … “uh oh … here we go” …

Two of the screeners then wanted to discuss the book, what was it about, where did I get it, how much did it cost, etc. … to which I happily gave them answers …

Afterwards all 3 said they were going to “have to get a copy” …

All 3 of these TSA screeners were young African-Americans …

I was very pleased to see their enthusiasm about reading “Culture of Corruption” …

Now … as for the DOJ and Holder et al

I expect nothing from anything or anyone in this administration … therefore I am never disappointed …

The never-ending and never-changing smoke and mirrors that we get from the Barack Copperfield Illusion continues ad infinitum

I think Glenn Beck has just been “scooped”. I think that is the huge announcement he was planning for his show tonight. Not sure, but I think that was it. I will listen to Beck in 1/2 hour to see what he says. I wonder if FOX News spilled the beans before Glenn had a chance. That would be pretty dirty of them, wouldn’t it? Or is it all fair game? Maybe this isn’t what Glenn had in mind, but he gave a hint yesterday, and it sounded like something to do with ACORN.

The first available operator will be with you shortly…followed by crappy music that goes on forever, 10 minutes, 30 minutes. . . . .”. Well, that is a perfect description of what I think of our government today. A useless machine that just makes sounds that it thinks you want to hear and promises action that never materializes. Promises that turn out to be lies and encouragements that turn out to be an utter waste of everyone’s time.

All this is why I laugh whenever I see a post to the effect that “Republicans are going to kick a– in 2010.” No. They’re not. For one thing, Republicans have little to no credibility. What are they going to say: this time we really mean it? (H/T to Chuck Asay). More to the point, who will ensuring the integrity of the voting process, counting the votes, ruling on disputing elections? BPP/ACORN and SEIU and democrat (and RINO) Secretaries of State, that’s who. Obama’s Army in short. Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Democrats pick up seats in 2010 as we march forward to a one-party collectivist (I use that neutral term so I won’t have to say anything uncivil, like “fascist” or “marxist”) state.

Will there be lawsuits? Oh, I suppose. Lawsuits that will move through the liberal courts very, very slowly. So what about 2012? In normal times, I would say Obama would be packing his bags. But these are not normal times and I expect Obama to win handily in 2012. The same for 2016, and 2020 . . . Oh, and expect the mortality rate of those belonging to groups who are less than enthusiastic about the above to increase significantly. I don’t know why.
