Waiting for CAIR to start whining…

Details are still sketchy on the FBI terrorism raid earlier today in NYC.

But we do know that 5 Afghan men were targeted — and that they were “a small group of people who espoused a militant ideology aligned with al Qaeda.”

Authorities searched at least two apartments including one shared by five Afghan men, taking some of them in for questioning, said one man who was questioned.

Members of U.S. Congress briefed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation said there was no imminent danger.

“There was nothing imminent, and they are very good now at tracking potentially dangerous actions and this was preventive,” said Charles Schumer, a U.S. Senator from New York who was among those briefed by FBI officials.

A man who identified himself as Amanullah Akbar, a 30-year-old taxi driver, said the FBI raided the apartment he shares with four other Afghan men at 2:30 a.m. (1630 GMT)

He was brought in for questioning and released and said he had no idea why his home was targeted, adding that he believed one of his roommates was arrested.

Waiting for CAIR to start screaming about the Obama administration’s racial and religious profiling.

Waiting…

Actual quote from “The Audacity of Hope” [pg. 261]:

Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

And by The Confessions of Obama’s Mouth,
he is a Muslim, not a Christian.

He has confessed the words that convince Muslims that he is a Muslim, but he has not confessed the words necessary for Christian salvation as described in Romans 10:9.

    Unveiling Islam
An Insider’s Look at Muslim Life and Beliefs
    Kregel/2002

As sons of a Muslim muazzein (Islamic cleric), the Caner brothers have first-hand knowledge of the major beliefs and daily practices of Islamic life. Now Christians, the Caners are in a unique position to present an insider’s look at Muslim beliefs.

In a sympathetic yet honest presentation, the Caner brothers offer clear explanations of what is and what is not Islamic doctrine and the religion’s impact on daily life. Western readers will find this candid presentation extraordinarily helpful.

Unveiling Islam covers the entire scope of Islam—its practices, ethics, and beliefs. It explains the Jihad, sects within Islam, and how Islam can be used to justify violence when one of its primary tenets is peace. The final two chapters show how Islam views Christianity and how Christians can open understanding dialogue with Muslims.

Only Malcolm X’s autobiography seemed to offer something different. His repeated acts of self-creation spoke to me. The blunt poetry of his words. His unadorned insistence on respect. He promised a new and uncompromising order, martial in its discipline.

You don’t look for a blond, blue-eyed Amish man with a beard and round, black hat, when a terrorist attack is imminent in the name of Allah. Yes – it’s one of my favorite movies, and I love that scene.

One small correction though – or more like an addendum: Ford’s character, John Book, had stepped forward to protest the harassment of one of the other Amish families (I remember because it was the buggy that Alexander Godunov’s character was driving, with his younger brother, portrayed by a young Viggo Mortensen in his feature film debut, riding in back). It was because of Book’s attempted intervention that they started taunting him, assuming, as you said, that since he was dressed as an Amish man, he wouldn’t fight back.

That’s why I like that scene so much, because the character didn’t have to get involved – in fact, it would have been wiser not to since he was supposed to be in hiding – but he couldn’t stand to see those people treated so disrespectfully.

BTW chap, she was only topless – figures guys zone in on that part.
