Unhappy anniversary, Charlie Rangel
Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of the New York Times’ call for dirty Democrat Rep. Charlie Rangel to resign amid mounting ethics and tax evasion scandals.
U.S. Representatives John Carter (R-TX) and Steve King (R-IA) marked the anniversary on the House floor — and contrasted the Democrats’ furor over GOP Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst with their continued silence over Rangel’s corruptocracy.
Rangel, true to form, persists in whining about victimhood — and complaining about the “smear campaign” of the New York Post. “Fairness” means that everyone else should shut up and leave it to the House Ethics Committee foxes guarding the henhouse to investigate his finances:

When the NYT calls for the resignation of a prominent Democrat, it either means:
a) the prominent Democrat is in big trouble.
b) the NYT has had a momentary moment of clarity.
c) nothing at all.

d) feigning objectivity.

Has Eric Holder quashed the investigation into Rangel’s corruption yet?
Can we at least get a couple of burly state troopers to tazer him for few minutes? Would make my day.
Charlie Rangel is just like the rest of the terminal cancer that has taken over the government. Corruption is the word of the day and it is destroying the country.

Democrat Rep. Charlie Rangel is a liar, thief, flamboyant and a tax cheat-given his district and city that is to be expected from the white Jimmy Walker to the Colorful Man of Colour Adam Clayton Powell.
But GOP Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst was to the House the bigger crime–he called a Liar a Liar; something not to be done in a den of liars, thieves, the flamboyant and tax cheat. So again GOP Rep. Joe Wilson will not be receiving the ACORN Sleaze Bag Award. Poor Joe.
Another “jackass”, but Obama won’t call him that. He needs him to push his agenda, vs. West who is nothing more than an useful idiot.

I don’t understand why the IRS doesn’t take money directly from their bank account like they do from the rest of the hard working Americans.
They took money from me that I didn’t owe. Why can’t they take money from these guys that they owe?
I don’t make as much money as Rangel does so he’d go much further toward paying down the national debt than stealing from me.
You will notice how quickly they jump on Wilson. It shows the hypocrisy of the congress, as well as the corruption.
Shameless people in Congress aren’t likely to heap shame upon one of their own. Thanks to these two men who were willing to stand up for truth. I wonder whether anyone but those of us here on MM.com will ever see this.

if charlie is so forgetful that he can’t remember he owns millions of dollars worth of rent paying real estate, should he be a legislator, or an alzhiemer patient. if charlie is so confused by the tax code that he can’t understand he has to pay taxes on rental income of his property, should he be writing the code he so clearly doesn’t comprehend. in short, time to hang up your spurs charlie.

At what point does the suspected law-breaking fall under the purview of the FBI? Granted that Holder would call them off, but this crap with Congress as being the only means to investigate itself is beyond the pale.

There’s a difference between naivete causing people to hope that the guy will turn out all right and actually electing somebody under investigation (Rangel, Jefferson) or worse, an impeached judge (Hastings).
Rangel knows how his district works, which is why he does what he does. There aren’t any consquences.
Rangel’s district would require an armored car and escorts. Is Barney’s District on Planet Earth? Massachusetts USED to be in America but I think Aliens abducted the whole state.
Errah because the 400 odd fellow travelers would get lonely.. Maybe Wm Jefferson can bring by some of that wonderful frozen lasagna we’ve all heard about.
Isn’t it funny how dirty Democrat Rep. Charlie Rangel is practically drowning in ethics and tax evasion scandals while Pelosi is tripping all over herself to slap down a Republican for shouting “you lie” at her beloved soul mate president? And isn’t it funny that Barbara Boxer, the fox who runs the senate ethics committee hen house can’t seem to find anything wrong and dismisses hundreds of ethics charges brought before her committee. In 2008 there were 98 “alleged” violations brought before the senate ethics committee and 96 were dropped. 2 senators were issued “letters of admonition” (GASP!). In 2007 there were 111 “alleged” violations brought before the committee and ALL REPEAT

Very appropriate since everything they say seems to come out of their a$$es! Unfortunately, of the 535 members of both houses, most are charter members of this once shadowly organization.

Rangel is a criminal period. How can someone of his reputation be in Congress? This is part of the problem of this country.

AZCaveman: There is a wonderful facility right here in AL. It is a federal prison for non-violent criminals. The inmates do wonderful rehabilitative work around the base, such as taking out the trash and recycling, moving furniture, mowing the lawns and maintaining the two golf courses.
I can’t wait to see Mr. Rangel picking up my trash each and every day!

Patience, my friends, patience. Speaker Pelosi is hard at work cleaning up the culture of corruption in Washington. She’ll soon have the results of the ethics investigations on Rangel, and will fast put things to right.
