And another pipeline closed off: Jindal halts ACORN funds
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal today cut off state funding for the community activist group ACORN.
Jindal has also blocked any state agency for entering into contracts with the organization.
The executive order also cuts off any future state funding of ACORN, on the heels of a series of embarrassing incidents for the organization.
The governor’s action follows a subpoena of documents from the group’s national headquarter office in New Orleans.
According to Jindal’s executive order, “ACORN’s actions make clear that financial involvement with ACORN is contrary to the public policy of the State of Louisiana and the best interests of its citizens.”
Better late than never.
It’s just the start.

They need to storm troop the offices!
Palin/Jindal 2012
Impeach Obama — NOW!
What did Obama know about Acorn and when did he know it? Remember him telling Acorn that he would be bringing them into the White House and asking for their advise on policy if he won the Presidency? If this was Bush, Pelosi would be talking about investigations galore!! But since it is Obama…silence!
JohnS…it was a seat at THE TABLE!
Excellent News!
Nip it in the bud.
Yep, it’s a start.
Hopefully, it will continue to all subsidies. Like farm payments (especially the ones where farmers are paid not to grow stuff) and small regional airports that return very little of the federal dollars invested in them.
yep nip it in the bud andy….

Yo, way to go Bobby!
It looks like the thread on the Acorn sweater is starting to unravel! Pretty soon those boobs will be fully exposed!
Ooh!
Defunding these criminals is a no brainer. How can we get back the $60 Mil we already gave them?
Woo-hoo!!! I love Bobby!
Congress should appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate ACORN.
How about Van Jones? He’s free.
If anyone thinks they see the GOP find their spine, get a video of John Boehner’s lamer than lame performance tonight on PBS’ Nightly News with Jim Lehrer. Then read Riehl World’s post on Blue Dogs caving in to facilitate the Obamacare bill on procedure (where it takes 60 voters) and then vote against it (requiring only 51 votes). It’s all about posturing strong one way for voters but knuckling in to the leadership.
Screw you GOP! You guys should be stomping all over Boehner.
Even Betterfrom Lousianna
Georgia Governor Perdue today.
The text of Governor Perdue’s Executive Order
POTUS BHO’s past is closing in.
Boom boom boom out go the lights
Fort Worth ACORN office closed; offices statewide temporarily stop work
I understand the excitement, but is it just me that thinks that all they will do is end up changing their name and it’s back in business again?
They should state that ACORN and any aliases that they choose will NOT be funded in any way shape or form.
That is something I can believe in.
Sonny Perdue, governor of Georgia, cut off ACORN today as well.
WHERE IS THE F.B.I.?
WHERE IS A R.I.C.O. Suit?
The FBI just might be in
One down, 49 (or 56) to go.
Still bothers me that b hussein obama thinks/says there are 57 states when in fact there ARE 57 states in the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) whether he mis-spoke or that’s where obama’s thinking usually is, in the koranic ‘state of mind’.
[pun intended]
Palin/Jindal 2012
IMPEACH OBAMA NOW FOR CRIMES AGAINST AMERICANS!
That P.O.S. tried to RAM this terrible bill through the House back in July! What a demon he is!
Obama is the Devil!
you have the Palin part right, not so sure about Jindal, he shows signs of being a GOP’er at times, we have enough oh them already…you know the ‘Grand Old Pal’ group.
Obama must wonder why everyone hates his friends?
Agreed 100% and then some, be awfully hard with dem controlled congress, as I’ve said before, how about a non-violent military coup? I just wager there are some Generals and Admirals along with junior officers that have kicked that around a time or two.
this is getting serious as to what this clown is doing to the country
It all looks good, but don’t forget all the tentacles that come from Acorn, according to Beck there’s over a 100.
You know I’m not impressed with these Governors that now conveniently block funding to ACORN (Pawlenty-running-for-Presidentamong them who finally decides its in his best interests to stop MN ACORN funding?).
What, investigation in 14 states for voter registration irregularities was not enough to tell them these people should not be given State Tax dollars?!
Idiots. (and I’m talking about the Governors!)
*It is not enough to just defund this group; A full investigation by the FBI and Justice Dept is a must; We need not forget that Acorn is at the epicenter for the CRA and how its’ effects nearly brought the USA down financially(I predict it will still do so), and that they were the lead advocacy pimp for illegal aliens purchasing homes through Bank of America and Countrywide.
Maybe there is an age problem…but, how about the ACORN cracking Pimp/Prostitute for President and VP?
WTF is anyone talking about a coup? Are you off of your meds? This is pure left wing crap. Congrats, you just gave DK a great talking point. If the GOP grows a set, POTUS is blocked. We can suck it up for 3 more years, and if we play our cards just slightly more than half right, we’ll have one chamber next year and the White House in 2012. Don’t be dumb, folks!!!
??/Jindal 2012.
I’m one of the few conservatives not sold on Sarah Palin, but I do like Jindal. I think he’s a sincere conservative, I just think he’s a bit cautious at times. He’s young though. He’ll learn how to make the tough decisions and be comfortable with people realizing he’s right by the results.
It’s about time! Thank you Bobby!
We shouldn’t even be thinking about 2012. Anyone who wants to be prez in 2012 needs to step up NOW. Crickets… So far, it’s shaping up just like 2008. Romney is clearly running so Huckabee will do his spoiler routine again paving the way for Pawlenty who will lose to Hillary. Rumor is that Giuliani is planning on running too so hear we go again. Another Assistant Democrat as the GOP candidate.
Our best hope is for Sarah Palin to follow through on her promise to campaign for conservatives of any party in 2010. That would establish us conservatives as a party unto ourselves and render both Democratic parties much weaker. She would then be in a position to impose a conservative platform on the GOP in exchange for her endorsement thus positioning herself as the leading candidate for 2016 or 2020. Or she might be so successful next year as to become the obvious choice for 2012.
In any event, there is no one else but Palin out there doing anything constructive. The priority is to make sure that conservatives win in 2010 at the expense of both parties and then to make sure that the GOP has a change of leadership before 2012 to open the way for a conservative. The threat of a 3rd party is looming already. Could be Palin. It certainly will NOT be Jindal. He is too odd to be a threat.
I agree with this, at least.
You MUST be new here. Talk of coups and revolution on this site are as banal as Murtha corruption allegations.
Bob, they did this for <3K$
Both should be running for congress, that alone will get my vote!
Please do not call for Obama’s impeachment. It is like why the WW2 allies did not decide to kill Hitler. He is helping us!
As every governor in a state housing a chapter of ACORN should be doing.
Of course, Jindal runs a state with a high profile ACORN/SEIU situation, and should he ignore his responsibility here, he would be surrendering much of his power.
Makes sense, though. If you want to keep your power, do the right thing.

OK. So Murtha’s private airstrip is a figment of our imagination?

Cool link.
The pertinent part is
“…All departments, commissions, boards, offices, entities, agencies, and officers of the State of Louisiana, or any political subdivision thereof, are directed to cease all existing funding for ACORN or its subsidiaries or affiliates unless such funding is legally obligated.”
…since we’re talking about a polished – if whorishly sloppy – racket which has too many “faces”.
PLEASE!
If Bobby wanted to impress anybody, he should have shut off their funding well into his first 100 days. Just a political move now. I mean, was ACORN not “exposed” previously? Did it not – ahem – “appear” to anybody with an “R” that ACORN ends with a “D”?
Color me not impressed.
Thank God this is starting to be noticed. We might, just might have an “honest” election in 2010. At least we have a fighting chance with ACORN out of the picture. Now, on to the black panthers, to make sure they aren’t standing in front of polling places with nightsticks. To paraphrase my hero, Glenn Beck, the paradigm has definitely shifted!
Oh, no…you didn’t just say that!
Speaking of Bobby Jindahl, I don’t think he has the oratory skills necessary to be POTUS. Seriously, that is badly needed. GWBush would have been so much more effective if he could have just “articulabated” his ideas better. Someone needs the ability to get the folks on the side of the right. Obama succeeded because he was a good communicator (at least with the help of TOTUS). We MUST have someone who is not only a committed Christian Conservative, but a very good speaker as well, AND someone who is brave enough to face the nasty, corrupt left wing radicals who will stop at nothing to destroy their enemies. I am praying for someone to turn up soon, very very soon. I don’t think Sarah Palin is the answer either. Too much baggage and too much vitriol out there on her. We need someone fresh who doesn’t have anything that can be dragged out and beated to death.
Ooops! Beaten to death! I pressed “submit” too soon!
the fbi needs to walk into the new orleans hq, copy down the names of every organization in the place, and deliver that to congress so they can defund all of them at once. then the fbi needs to initiate a rico prosecution to root out all the felons hiding within this cesspool, including congresscritters.
Yes, he should have shut that down a while ago.
Keep the ball rolling. Shut ACORN down totally.
Wow, the folks at ACORN’s national HQ must be in a panic! The snowball has only begun rolling down the mountain – one avalanche coming right up
The best thing would be is if this happened in every state in the union. I can’t imagine this coverage of ACORN is helping C.O.I.
The only baggage and vitriol is what the left manufactured. They will do that with any decent Republican. Your “fresh” one would also be drug through the mud with lies and distortions. We just have to deal with that. Don’t let the left pick our candidate.
