Triple-snort-worthy: White House “distances” itself from ACORN

(Photo source: 2008 ACORN slideshow presentation)

Good thing I wasn’t drinking coffee when I read the Politico headline about Team Obama trying to run away from ACORN:

“W.H. distances from activist group”

Choking. Up. With. Laughter.

Barack Obama can no more disown ACORN than he could disown his own shadow.

He IS ACORN. And ACORN is him. The “accountability” that White House flack Robert Gibbs says they take “extremely seriously” doesn’t extend to Team Obama itself — and the accountability they have evaded for pouring more than $800,000 into an ACORN front group for campaign advance work that was mysteriously re-classified as “get-out-the-vote” work.

As for the ACORN “advisory committee” that will “audit” the group’s illicit activities, I repeat:

Choking. Up. With. Laughter.

SEIU is ACORN. ACORN is SEIU.

See Anita MonCrief for more background. And here.

The foxes guard the corrupted henhouse again.

Ah, Venezuela. We know you well.

One can only assume they also mean the internet, but they didn’t say explicitly say that.

It would be funny it if there wasn’t such a significant possibility of it becoming reality. All in the name of national security, naturally.

I happened to watch O’Reilly the other night when he had Glenn Beck on talking about the Acorn tapes. Glenn made the statement that the Acorn organization was huge and that the bigger picture is that they are working to make fundamental changes in our government. Anyone else remember when Tom Hanks’s wife Rita Wilson (IIRC) was doing the talk show circuit shedding light on the sorry state women’s rights in Afghanistan, back when the Taliban were running things in that country?

After we kicked the Taliban out of power you didn’t hear one word from her or any of the NOW gang, not even when the Taliban were bombing schools that dared to teach girls, etc. It was no longer politically correct because the ‘wrong side’ was now supporting the rights of women in Afghanistan.

Everybody’s all high on the constitution and individual liberty right now, so I absolutely think the powers that be will pick up that mantra, turn it into anti-Obama sentiment (evidenced already by the transformation of the TEA party messages) and provide us with great campaign rhetoric. Let me clarify. I often monitor several threads at once, as well as a couple other sites. Kills the time before I have to get ready for work.

I can easily see what the number counts are at the main site. So let’s say I left this thread at 45 comments, when I look back and see it’s now 51, I scroll down to number 46, not 80533.

Sorry for the long OT post. Wanted to explain my use of the word incomprehensible.

I have not watched him since. Geraldine claims to speak for all Hispanics as JerryBoy Wright claims to speak for all blacks–both lie.

When it comes to Fox News Neil Cavuto has the most comprehensive reporting, Beck is good. Hannity and O’Reilly need to stop trying to be Oprah Winfrey-”how are your hemorrhoids” is not the news we can use.

I understand, b-cat, diff folks have their own ways to keep up and I can see where having the numbers consistently right is helpful.

For me, it’s not much of a problem. I have a pretty good short term memory and excellent memory overall, so I don’t lose my way with a bunch of tabs open. e.g. I remember a key word/phrase (or a commenter’s handle) in a comment thread I’m following, then I just use the find/next starting from the “bottom up” and pickup reading from there. I did that even before the 6 digit comment numbering system came along.

But I don’t know that Michelle has much to do or say about it. Like many bloggers, she uses WordPress and I suspect the numbers thing is a glitch on their end – or as WordPress might call it a “new feature”. i.e. it’s probably part of the WordPress package.

    Well, sometimes a “mega-memory” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, b-cat.

On one hand I can amaze people I met once 15 years ago by remembering their names and asking how that sprained ankle healed or if Little Johnny ever did become a doctor like he planned.

But on the other hand, there are some moments in my life I’d sooner forget! I think there’s a saying about a good memory being a curse as much as a blessing.

Of course, it’s fun to be a buttkicker at Trivial Pursuit, so I guess it all balances out! :)

But, as you sez, we do have to go about things from a multitasking point of view.
