Obama plays dumb on ACORN

Channeling clueless Charlie Gibson and Nancy Pelosi, President Obama is playing dumb about ACORN. Here’s what he said on ABC’s This Week this morning:
STEPHANOPOULOS: But have your — have some of your allies made it easier for — handed your opponents some ammunition, like ACORN, for example…
OBAMA: Well, look, the — you know, I think that — are there folks in the Democratic camp or on the left who haven’t — haven’t always operated in ways that I’d appreciate? Absolutely.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Congress said they should cut off all funding for ACORN.
OBAMA: Is — is — is…
STEPHANOPOULOS: … all funding for ACORN. Are you for that?
OBAMA: Is that true on the other side, as well? Of course that’s true.
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about the funding for ACORN?
OBAMA: You know, it’s — frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely. I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Both the Senate and the House have voted to cut it off.
OBAMA: You know, what I know is, is that what I saw on that video was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you’re not committing to — to cut off the federal funding?
OBAMA: George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country. It’s not something I’m paying a lot of attention to.
It strains credulity — no, it snaps credulity in half — to believe Obama “didn’t even know” that ACORN was “getting a whole lot of federal money” given his extensive legal services on behalf of the group and training for its voter education arm, Project Vote. (Go re-read my column from June 2008, “The ACORN Obama knows,” and all the links for a refresher course.)
Repeat after me: Obama is ACORN. ACORN is Obama. Barack Obama can no more disown ACORN than he could disown his own shadow.
Now that the White House supports an investigation, Congress should make sure to investigate:
1) How Team Obama hid its $800,000 campaign payment to ACORN through front group “Citizen Services, Inc.”;
2) How Team Obama shared donor lists with the president’s old employer, ACORN affiliate Project Vote, a 501(c)(3) organization, which is prohibited from engaging in political activity (Mr. President, meet Anita MonCrief);
3) And how Project Vote and hundreds of myriad entities intermingled non-profit, tax-exempt funding with the national ACORN flagship’s political operations — a buried story Obama would know about if he read NYTimes reporter Stephanie Strom’s report last October before she was muzzled as Election Day drew near.

I was watching Bill O’Reilly the other night ONLY because I saw Dick Morris on there. Morris started saying something about ODumbo and ACORN and their history of working together, and O’Reilly shut Morris down. He told Morris that there’s nothing to the OBlama – ACORN thing.
WHAT?!?!? I quit watching O’Really a long time ago, and still don’t get how he has such high ratings.

This was just a dumb statement on his part. Talk about handing your opponents ammunition. I say this considering that there is about $8.5 billion for ACORN in sthe stimulous boondoggle alone.
This is just more proof that Obama is either lying when he claims he knows nothing or he is just signing legislation into law on a whim. Either way it is just more information to use against him and the Dem’s in the 2010/2012 election cylce. Of course it will only work if (and that’s a big if) the R’s can actually come up together with a real plan and stick to it after they get Congress back. Like I said I wont hold my breath.
Who here really believes the sissy-fied wussy-boys/girls that are the Republicans in office today will take these comments and actually pin our Village-Idiot-In-Chief with them? Anybody? Anybody at all?
I can count on one hand, and have fingers left over, the number of incumbents that have the guts to stand up and put this in Obama’s lap and put that absolutely clueless Pelosi on the hotseat about the lies they continue to spew. Heck, Joe Wilson seemed like the guy to stand up and be counted. Then he actually APOLOGIZED for telling the truth. He should have said “Prove me wrong and I’ll be happy to apologize. Until then, get stuffed and look for more of me calling BS when I hear it!”

Speaking of dumb statements…
This is not even close to being true. Just because an entity is eligible to BID in an OPEN and COMPETITIVE process for funds does not mean that they are receiving them. Hundreds, if not thousands of organizations are eligible for and will bid to receive those funds. Several hundred will get them.
And lest anyone accuse me of trying to change the subject, I will state that I find it hard to believe that Obama would not know that ACORN gets significant federal dollars.

How come Stephanopoulos didn’t ask Obama about his time with ACORN as their lawyer and a “community organizer” (otherwise known as Astroturf King)??
Bill o’Reilly is first and foremost an entertainer…His ‘ideology’ is “What do I have to do to get ratings and keep my job regardless of who is in the whitehouse?”…Understand that his earlier professional life was as a correspondent for the TV-tabloid “Inside Edition”, so the idea of placating to RINos/Dems every so often is part of that strategy…i.e. sensationalism… He is NOT truly conservative.
Glen Beck, I suspect is fast becoming O’Reilly’s rival on Fox. I expect to see some infighting between those two eventually.

But, for the moment I’ve noticed him on more than one occasion taking partial credit for Beck’s successes…e.g., exposing Van Jones, which led to his firing (resignation) and the ACORN exposé. O’Reilly uses the royal “we” when discussing these coups. Horning on big stories results from underlying jealousy.

So Obama is not closely following an issue with serious implications for the Democratic party but he is watching baseball. That’s comforting. No wonder t he country continues to slide into the quality of life crapper.
