Channeling clueless Charlie Gibson and Nancy Pelosi, President Obama is playing dumb about ACORN. Here’s what he said on ABC’s This Week this morning:
STEPHANOPOULOS: But have your — have some of your allies made it easier for — handed your opponents some ammunition, like ACORN, for example…
OBAMA: Well, look, the — you know, I think that — are there folks in the Democratic camp or on the left who haven’t — haven’t always operated in ways that I’d appreciate? Absolutely.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Congress said they should cut off all funding for ACORN.
OBAMA: Is — is — is…
STEPHANOPOULOS: … all funding for ACORN. Are you for that?
OBAMA: Is that true on the other side, as well? Of course that’s true.
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about the funding for ACORN?
OBAMA: You know, it’s — frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely. I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Both the Senate and the House have voted to cut it off.
OBAMA: You know, what I know is, is that what I saw on that video was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you’re not committing to — to cut off the federal funding?
OBAMA: George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country. It’s not something I’m paying a lot of attention to.
It strains credulity — no, it snaps credulity in half — to believe Obama “didn’t even know” that ACORN was “getting a whole lot of federal money” given his extensive legal services on behalf of the group and training for its voter education arm, Project Vote. (Go re-read my column from June 2008, “The ACORN Obama knows,” and all the links for a refresher course.)
Repeat after me: Obama is ACORN. ACORN is Obama. Barack Obama can no more disown ACORN than he could disown his own shadow.
Now that the White House supports an investigation, Congress should make sure to investigate:
1) How Team Obama hid its $800,000 campaign payment to ACORN through front group “Citizen Services, Inc.”;
2) How Team Obama shared donor lists with the president’s old employer, ACORN affiliate Project Vote, a 501(c)(3) organization, which is prohibited from engaging in political activity (Mr. President, meet Anita MonCrief);
3) And how Project Vote and hundreds of myriad entities intermingled non-profit, tax-exempt funding with the national ACORN flagship’s political operations — a buried story Obama would know about if he read NYTimes reporter Stephanie Strom’s report last October before she was muzzled as Election Day drew near.
Bring it on.

Saw this on Fox this morning. She couldn’t (or wouldn’t) look at the congressman who was grilling her. Her credibility was nil and she was too “stupid” or arrogant to know it. I was pleased to see that both Wallace and the congressman weren’t throwing her softballs but, as expected, she lied through her teeth.

I noticed in the new Baucus Bill (full text), a paragraph under Revenue seemed to indicate that local Community Organizers (a.k.a. Acorn) would dictate what health needs must be available and offered by hospitals. Hospitals have 1 year to implement these needs or face heavy penalties. Every 3 years the local Community Organizers would make new recommendations which must be implemented “or else”.
I read this in the “full text” version of the bill from a link provided by Foxnews.com the day the bill was released. However, when I tried to go back to the text to get the specific article and paragraph later that day, the links were gone!
So now I wonder, what other communist ‘acorns’ are scattered through-out this bill? I have been unable to find the full text again, maybe someone has more time and search prowess than I do. I hope so, because these little hidden shards are not being exposed by the media and will have devastating consequences to our future health care.

Someone very wise once observed that believing another person’s lies was one thing, believing one’s own lies is another thing entirely. How does he react when he realizes that no one believes him even when he is telling the truth? If he is living in a fantasy world where ACORN is a harmless little group of loosely organized volunteers who have no aspirations beyond keeping poor people in their homes, then he will lash out and blame us. We knew Pres Nixon was done when he went on TV to say “I’m not a crook.” When will Pres. Obama assure us that he is not a liar?

We have more important things going on in the country right now, according to Dear Leader, so an investigation into ACORN, which will be delayed forever, I welcome. But we have more important things to worry about, as Dear Leader deflects and ducks, than a few bad ACORNS even though I was heavily involved and their hijinks got me elected, with contributions from my organization.
Obama is counting on “news” media not fully investigating the story so no one sees the bigger picture and gets the full sense of the corruption.
I’d say that’s a safe bet. Not sure it is a sure bet, but it is a safe bet.
A few of the Obama house of cards are falling. Whether the whole house of cards falls depends on more dots being connected. Depending on the bulk of the news media folks to connect those dots is a false hope. So I’d say the way Obama is playing this thing now makes sense.
BUT, if there is enough blood in the water and a few news media outlets decide they will look worse by not covering the story then covering it, they will damage themselves and their futures more by not covering it, THEN we may see more cards fall and the Obama’s, Valerie Jarret, etc., in the cross hairs.
But until that time, playing dumb is probably the smart bet.

2. Even though Obama is a horrible conversationalist, his quoted dialogue here is so butchered, that it appears to me that Stephanopoulos’ questioning deviated from a prearranged script, or that Stephanopoulos went ahead and asked a forbidden question.
3. Obama is a horrible liar.
4. How disillusioning this blatant Obama lie must be for those on the left, who formed an 8+ year Pavlovian response of “liar” to almost anything that George Bush stated or implied.

So true. We seem to see people hit by busses, well, actually thrown under them, and they end up hurting real bad. I think I’ve seen people who avoid the bus altogether and ‘just decide “You know what, . . .” ’ lining up to receive other Government subsidies, some as life-time jobs. How do they afford hugetastic TVs?
But then Georgie says: “That’s a tax . . . .”
And Obama responds
“That’s not true . . .
For us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase. What it’s saying is we’re not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you . . .”
Do I understand correctly: The President has a goal: “we’re not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you”.
Obana managed to avoid Georgie’s direct questions, but it was obvious.
Does Obama know that he essentially committed himself and his administration to a very Conservative principle (or two)?
If the Federal and state governments start making a real effort to get people back to work and off welfare, how much would the Federal budget shrink?
Is the percentage large, perhaps 40% ?
Just think: if corporate taxes were raised slightly, and an offsetting taxbreak were offered for companies that offer health insurance to all workers, maybe the problem would go away.
Yes, we have to find good jobs or recreate the conditions that allow good jobs, like machinist, steelworker, shipbuilder, assembly line worker, home electronics and computer manufacturers, garment manufacturer (as compared to burger-flipper, Walmart clerk, government employee, community organizer, etc.).
It looks like we have to start changing some laws, maybe afford some protection to the re-starting industries, and put an end to off-shoring.
But we need to do this anyway, while we are still able.

If the media will not do its job and truly investigate all of the ties between this administration and ACORN, then it is time for petition drives, demanding the resignation or impeachment of this guy. I have never seen anyone to have so many associations that really did not “happen”. This criminal reeks of his crimes and corruption now. Seriously folks, I’m getting a bad feeling on this, and that sometime soon we’ll be hearing that “cooler and wiser heads are prevailing.” There will be a call for an investigation, internal of course, and the conclusion will be that yes, there were a few bad apples but they are gone now and that the fundamental structure of ACORN is sound, so why should we make many suffer for the acts of a few, and so forth? The funding will be restored at some point and while ACORN may not be part of the census officially, many ACORN volunteers will participate in key areas, though under a different banner. In short, nothing will substantively change. We will be right back where we started from.
Why do I think this? It’s the Chicago way for one thing. Also I’m cynical and have an attitude, but more to the point Obama must have his army and ACORN is the core of it. It will not be easily replaced without taking a lot of time, time which Obama never has. In the end there will be chair shuffling and little else.

I was watching Bill O’Reilly the other night ONLY because I saw Dick Morris on there. Morris started saying something about ODumbo and ACORN and their history of working together, and O’Reilly shut Morris down. He told Morris that there’s nothing to the OBlama – ACORN thing.
