funny, he must be spending a lot of time following baseball because he had no problem commenting on the white sox and derek jeter’s new record.

So Obama is not closely following an issue with serious implications for the Democratic party but he is watching baseball. That’s comforting. No wonder t he country continues to slide into the quality of life crapper.

love2rumba: I agree with your comments on O’Reilly. He has to be edgy about Beck. But, for the moment I’ve noticed him on more than one occasion taking partial credit for Beck’s successes…e.g., exposing Van Jones, which led to his firing (resignation) and the ACORN exposé. O’Reilly uses the royal “we” when discussing these coups. Horning on big stories results from underlying jealousy.

I get exactly what you are saying!
I always liked O’Reilly but in these recent weeks when the rubber is really hitting the road, O’Reilly is being a David Brooks moderate.
O’Reilly is seriously close to getting the blue pencil in my book.

I think he does this because he’s trying to suck in the center left or past/present Bush haters. It’s actually quite brilliant because I know a few who have been fished in.

Cognitive dissonance. He followed it closely enough to watch at least one video and know that what he saw "was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated". He followed it closely enough to know that it's gone viral and that he had to go do a media blitz to try to contain the damage, just like he did when the Rev. Wright videos went viral. Whenever Obama does a media blitz, you can count on one thing...
