I can't believe anyone in their right mind would believe this is not a tax and I don't think this is the right direction. If Obama is so concerned about the uninsured, perhaps he should prohibit healthcare providers from charging uninsured more than medicare or insurance companies.

My cost without insurance for an MRI is $1,000. the insurance company paid $120 to the provider. My son's hospital bill a few years ago came to over $50,000 yet the insurance company paid less than $15,000. I paid $1,000 out of my pocket and the Hospital tried to collect over $35,000 from me, untill I reported it to my insurance company.

It may be legal and somewhat fair to grant insurance companies huge discounts, but that would make healthcare more affordable to uninsured without any new government infrastructure or taxes.

When Obama decides to increase income taxes on the middle class, he will again deny that he is breaking his campaign promise. He will simply call it an income fee instead of an income tax. His supporters will agree with him because liberals hate capitalism and would have no problem with people being fined for making money. The more money you make by being productive, the more you will be fined for your misbehavior.

In Obamaland Non-workers who receive welfare from the government are behaving properly because they are not evil capitalists, so they will not have to pay any income fees. And, of course, elite liberals who fail to report their full income and fail to pay income fees will be forgiven and made Czars.

It really is like that movie.
Well, first of all, there's 17¢ new-in-town tax, and there's 45¢ rowboat-under-the-wharf tax, and one dollar leaving-your-junk-lying-around-the-wharf tax, so all together, you owe the Commodore $1.87.

Based on the available evidence, one would have to conclude that Barry Soetoro must be running for President of the World, where the combined wealth of the most successful capitalist countries must be either eliminated or redistributed to third world backwaters, like, Kenya for example. Otherwise, why would he want to stifle the creativity and vitality of America's best and brightest?

Example: Universal Health Care (subsidized by those who already have health care).

Example: Automaker bailouts (majority ownership given to the unions who ran the industry into the ground).

Example: Cap and Trade (denying the use of our own natural resources, and forcing us to burn our own food).

Somebody please tell this wingnut that there is no higher job than President of the United States.

He made some inane statement about finally rectifying the tax break that Busssssshhhhh gave to the rich.

Now, TigerLady, let's be realistic here. Dropping the highest marginal tax rate from 38% to 35% was a travesty. The fact that the top 5% of earners in this country pay 59% of the tax dollars collected is not enough. How are we ever going to incent people to take risks and go out and make a fortune if we continue to do stupid stuff like letting them keep that money?

Do I really need the sarc/ tag?

Did not watch that interveiw, but Stephanopolous is not a particularly good interviewer. He is often unprepared. I recall him asking Pres Bush about 'stay the course' on Iraq and the President responded that he was never 'stay the course' on Iraq.

What Stephanopolous should have done is read from the bill itself and not from the dictionary. This is not to defend Pres Obama but to demonstrate how much of a wet noodle Stephanopolous is.

This would have never happened with Tim Russert.
