I killed the Kentucky Census worker — along with every conservative in America
Something horrible happened to Bill Sparkman, who worked part-time as a Census worker in rural southeastern Kentucky.
He was found dead. Tied to a tree. Preliminary tests show he died of asphyxiation.
But the “cause of Sparkman’s death is under investigation, and authorities have not ruled out suicide, an accident or homicide, said Kentucky state police spokesman Don Trosper. A full medical report on Sparkman’s death is not complete,” according to the Washington Post.

No matter. A speculative rumor spread by the Associated Press that Sparkman may have been targeted because of his Census job — coupled with an unsubstantiated claim that “fed” was “scrawled” on his chest — was enough “evidence” for the nutroots to convict every outspoken conservative activist and advocate for limited government of a murder that has yet to be determined a murder.
Democratic Underground immediately posted a “Handy Guide to how Republicans and Fox News are responsible for Census worker being hanged,” where a DU user fumed:
We need to absolutely expose Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann, Michelle Malkin, CNN’s Lou Dobbs, Michael Steele, Rush Limbaugh and the legion of others parroting right-wing lies for trumping up this nonsense and getting people to now commit murder in a hideous fashion.
The Democratic Underground is an unrepresentative fring voice, you say? Well, here’s the “respectable” New York magazine pointing hysterical fingers at Bachmann, Limbaugh, “conservative media personalities, websites, and even members of Congress.”
Newsbusters spotlighted HuffPo indictments issued against conservative talk radio for the Sparkman’s death.
Radio Equalizer has video and transcript of left-wing radio loon Stephanie Miller blaming the Tea Party movement.
And Allahpundit points to this heinous graphic of a hanged man implicating yours truly, Sarah Palin, the Second Amendment, and every blanket criticism of ACORN, the SEIU, illegal immigration, Obamacare, and socialism under the sun.
They did this with the George Tiller shooting and the Holocaust Museum shooting and the Binghamton immigration center shooting. Motives had yet to be determined and bodies were still warm, but that did not stop the stampede from exploiting every bloody opportunity to redefine conservative political expression as an incitement to violence.
Meanwhile, other details initially reported by the AP that sparked the Census worker-was-murdered-because-he-was-a-government-worker meme continue to crumble. From McClatchy:
William E. Sparkman, 51, of Laurel County, Ky., reportedly had the word “fed” scrawled on his chest. That raised questions about whether he was killed because of hard feelings against the government and catapulted the mysterious death into a national story.
However, on Thursday, police had not confirmed Sparkman was even doing census work in Clay County at the time he died, said Capt. Lisa Rudzinski, commander of the state police post handling the investigation.
One media report — which quoted a census official saying a computer Sparkman used for census work was found in his truck near the cemetery — wasn’t true, Rudzinski said.
Police found Sparkman’s red pickup truck, but the computer wasn’t in it, she said.
…”There are too many unanswered questions for us to lean one way or the other,” Rudzinski said. “We have not ruled this is a hate crime against a federal employee. We’re still trying to determine if foul play was involved.”
…Reports that Sparkman was hanging from a tree at the cemetery create an image that doesn’t fit the evidence where Sparkman was found, Rudzinski said. Sparkman had a rope around his neck that was attached to a tree, but he was not hanging in the sense that many people envision, she said. Sparkman’s body was in contact with the ground, state police said in a news release.
News that Sparkman had the word “fed” on his chest came to the Associated Press from a law enforcement official who requested anonymity. The official did not tell the AP what was used to scrawl the word on Sparkman.
David Beyer, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Kentucky, said the agency was assisting state police and trying to figure out if Sparkman’s death had anything to do with his being a federal employee.
State police contacted the FBI about the case because Sparkman was a federal employee, not because of a belief that his death resulted from his employment, Rudzinski said.
To recap:
1) Police have not determined yet that this was murder.
2) He wasn’t hanging from the tree.
3) It hasn’t been determined if he was even working as a Census data collector at the time of his death or whether that job had anything at all to do with his demise.
But:
I killed the Kentucky Census worker — along with every man and woman in America who is guilty of having said or written anything critical of government.
The criminalization of conservatism continues.

Even if some lunatic killed this man, it has nothing to do with conservative media. This is just another tactic of the radical leftist morons. They will do anything to try to silence conservatives. Including trying to pin murders on them.
This is what the Taliban have done to our military in Afghanistan. They claim falsely that our military killed civilians. So the idiot liberal politicians forced the creation of new Rules of Engagement that require us to tie our hands and not be able to fight.
This is no different. Leftist want to shut down any voice that opposes them. And they’ll do anything to get that done.
So quite frankly, even if some lunatic killed this man because he thought he was an ACORN canvasser, it will not change a thing about what conservatives need to say and shed light on. We didn’t kill the man. If he was murdered, that’s on the hands of the psycho that did it. Not Glen Beck, MM or any other conservative. And nothing… not a damn thing…. about what we say or how we say it…will or should change.

Your choice of targets is interesting, though. A census worker? Boy, that will show ‘em.
Two things:
1) To accuse conservative pundits of having enough sway to encourage murder is so intellectually bankrupt it’s laughable and not even worth discussing.
2) But, to argue that point on the basis of law enforcement’s ongoing investigation and their statement that this might not even be a murder and they’re looking into multiple causes is a bit dishonest. We know the victim was tied to a tree. We know he had the word “Fed” scrawled into his chest. We know it wasn’t an accident. We know it wasn’t a suicide. That leaves only one option; the victim was murdered.
Certainly the cause of the murder wasn’t Michelle’s, Glenn’s, or Rush’s fault. But don’t say, “It’s not our fault because we don’t even know if it was murder.”
Never let pass an opportunity to “Rahm it” to your opponents-Rahm Emanuel.
He could have easily been seen as a “revenuer”. Plenty of shine still being made there, and marijuana grown. Clay county is very heavily wooded and mountainous. Dad is from the next couny over. We were just there last week. Any animosity towards the “fed” could also stem from he fact that obladah promised to destroy the coal industry…
And how many Americans in uniform have died since 1966 due to an unending stream of statements from Democrats that have consistenly given aid and comfort to our enemies?

I hope an answer to the mystery is determined soon and conclusively. If this man lost his life because someone was disgruntled with census taking, it’s a horror and travesty, and I have to concede there are awful nutcases in the world capable of such an act.
That said, my instinct from the few details available was that the possibility of suicide was strong, and reason tells me a murder by criminals to cover drug manufacture or harvest is more likely than a politically motivated murder.
When I found out he was a boy-scout leader and substitute teacher I have to confess the ugliest notion possible entered my thinking. That perhaps this was a man with demons, a disturbed sexuality; I’ve since heard rumors that have done nothing to dispel what I thought was an unfair first impression.
When I was a girl my father’s former secretary was found bound and hanged in the woods near her home, along with killed family pets, in an apparent murder. However, detectives were quickly able to establish that she had committed suicide and staged the scene, had bound herself and put tape on her own mouth, etc.
Perhaps this is why my mind runs to this dark possibility. I know that people sometimes will do this.

Watching what happens around national parks around the country it is most likely that this census worker was killed by drug growers.
A possibly scrawled ‘fed’ is the type of tactic used by drug gangs from mexico where the ’statement killing’ is used to intimidate.
So if I were to go way out on a limb, I would suggest this census worker was simply seen as a ‘federale’ by an illegal alien drug gang.

Hell, I was working in WV and doing a lot of site surveys for a company and driving a red Explorer. Believe you me, until I got out of the vehicle and explained what I was doing, show and tell, I was looked at as an outsider. once I was seen as not anyone from the Feds – the nicest people on earth.
There was voter fraud indictments handed down in Clay County and they are going through the discovery process right now.

This is actually very possible. Many people in those areas of Kentucky, West Virginia, and North Carolina, are from hard-core FDR Democrat families – and their kids have moved on from moon to weed to augment their incomes. If they feel threatened by a stranger, they could do worse than tying him to a tree.

Ms. Malkin quoted Kentucky offical Don Trosper TWICE, once in BOLD, who said they had NOT ruled out suicide, accident or homicide. An anonymous person said FED was written on the chest, but police did not confirm the statment. They did say the victim was tied to a tree and touching the ground, thus implying to the reader that suicide may be a possibility. Perhaps you want to correct your statement?

To be honest the only thing that has surprised me about the actions of the liberal sites over this issue is that they have not linked to this article yet claiming that Michelle has admited her guilt.
One of the most shameful things written in the MSM lately was the charge by New York Times columnist Bob Herbert that John F. Kennedy was killed as a result of right wing crazies in Dallas fomenting violence. Actually, President Kennedy was murdered by Lee Harvey Oswald, who was a hard core communist who had lived in the Soviet Union and had spent months walking the streets of New Orleans denouncing the Kennedy administration’s opposition to Castro’s communist regime in Cuba. There is a famous photo of Oswald in New Orleans with a placard reading “Hands off Cuba”. I am sure there will never be a correction in the New York Times, which never corrects a liberal columnist’s factual error and invites both Muamar Qaddafi and his son to pen opeds in a span of two weeks.

What facts did you examine? A dead guy in a cemetery, probably trolling for Democrat votes. Even the cops aren’t aren’t sure how he died, either homicide or suicide. All your so-called facts have proven to be untrue, speculation of a state-run media desperate for a story to be true to fit their template that clearly is not.

really not trying to prejudge anything here, but it sounds as if maybe this guy was enjoying some “private time” in the bed of his truck with someone, and that someone didnt like something that happened and got sick revenge. I would guess a DNA swab might be in order. Of course, it could be just about anything, but his clothes in the bed of his truck and tailgate down makes me wonder…

I confess, when a Census canvasser came round my neighborhood, standing on every doorstep and touching the screen of a GPS unit to identify the precise location of every address…I wanted to throw him off my property.
Oddly enough, actually doing him harm never crossed my mind. Though the fact that he was a full-grown man at least 6′ tall, and I’m less than 5′ tall and a female, probably factored into this.
Still. It creeped me out then and still creeps me out, that they know precisely, down to the exact GPS coordinates, where to find every single one of us. Ick. Makes my skin crawl.
I just saw somthing I found very strange. While reading up on this I followed a link to something called Think Progress. Lots of comments posted. I noticed that they use a weird policy and some comments are partially blocked with the words “This comment has been voted down. Click to read.” You click to read and the comment comes up. It is as if it was devised so as to expose their sensative minds to something that might upset them. LOL! Example, I clicked on one and the evil comment appeared that had been “voted down. It was: “To the best of my knowledge the Census was used to help inter Japanese Americans.”
I was amazed at how they will institute a policy to avoid seeing anything that contradicts their “progressive” view.
