What a glossy simple minded argument: if you don’t denounce ALL forms of leader worship (in triplicate) then you are racist.
The primary difference between the example you’ve blogged about, and the one he mentions in his article, is that one is government funded, the other is privately funded.
While all leader-inspired cults are creepy, government-powered cults are imminently more dangerous than privately funded ones.

Actually I think it was Chris Matthews who started the “anyone who disagrees with Barack or Michelle Obama is a racist” cliche that is now accepted as the gospel truth at NBC News.In 2008 Matthews said that every schoolchild should be required to study and learn Obama’s Philadelphia speech on race. That was the speech in which Obama threw his grandmother under the bus when she was only months away from passing away due to old age. Obama said that her racist remarks “made me cringe”. Then he smeared Geraldine Ferraro as the white counterpoint to Reverend Wright. Obama could not point to one statement that Gerry ever made that showed a scrap of prejudice.
One of the more hilarious Matthews remarks was when he was villifying Bill Kristol. Matthews said that Kristol and other “neocons” (of course Matthews meant all Jewish conservatives) had never “been in a street fight growing up” the way Matthews said he had and then Matthews spoke of how he had fistfights all the time when he grew up hard and poor on the mean streets of Boston. Actually Matthews grew up on a tree lined quiet middle class neighborhood and Matthews was such a tough guy that he opted for the Peace Corps in lieu of the US Army.

Yep. Just like when RSS claimed that Michelle never criticizes cases of racism committed by whites. I posted the proof that refuted his claim. He disappeared for several days with out commenting. All he had to say was “you’re right, it was my mistake”. I would have respected that. I know I’ve written and said many a thing that I’ve regretted or that was proven false. I always try to own up (but am not always successful).

Government via our Constitution is charged with providing the most optimum economic, security, and environmental conditions so every American has at least a chance to live free and prosper.
Unfettered Capitalism on occasion retards that process if not dealt with by Government entities. (Banking, Health Care, Retirement Security) That Government intervention, with “reasonable” Government programs and regulations, best ensure the ideals set forth in that Constitution.
Republican (Government) ideology works to undermine that balance and move toward unfettered Capitalism that disproportionally benefits the powerful & wealthy. Democratic (Government) ideology works to attain the equal rights set forth in our Constitution, which foster Capitalistic success, while not leaving major groups of Americans (the Elderly, Ill, Poor) with little or nothing.
The more the far right & the GOP alienates major groups of Americans by ignoring & working against their interests, the more they reduce their chances of governing. And that is good for America in the 21st century world!

BTW, for those who are as ignorant of our Constitution as SilverCat is, that is only partially true.
Although protecting our rights is the legitimate role of Constitutional government, and one can read the protection of the basic environment (air/water/protection from poisons) as naturally following from the right to life, nothing in the Constitution says our security and environmental conditions should be ‘optimized.’ The concept of ‘reasonableness’ has to be used here. That is one of those inconvenient concepts the left discards when it serves their purposes to do so.
The Constitution gives no role to the government in deciding if the economy is what the government thinks it ought to be. Other than designing and enforcing the rules and regulations by which our property rights can be best protected, the government is supposed to stay the Hell away from messing with the economy at all.
Why is it that if you try to present a moderate reasonable position on this site, it almost always results in juvenile name calling? On just this one thread I’ve been called: a moron, a fascist, a clueless ignormus?, a fool, & a stooge? ignorant of history too!! wow, it was government that almost destroyed capitalism in the 1930s…even Bernake admits the Fed caused the depression…and all that govenment spending, ‘stimulus’ programs, whatever you want to call it, did nothing, in fact it prolonged the depression…smoot hawley..government actions…high taxes, regulations…killed the economy..but it gave the government more power over people’s lives…and thats all that matters to people like you.
