House Dems push for illegal alien health care coverage
They are not giving up without a fight.

Fearful that they’re losing ground on immigration and health care, a group of House Democrats is pushing back and arguing that any health care bill should extend to all legal immigrants and allow illegal immigrants some access.
The Democrats, trying to stiffen their party’s spines on the contentious issue, say it’s unfair to bar illegal immigrants from paying their own way in a government-sponsored exchange. Legal immigrants, they say, regardless of how long they’ve been in the United States, should be able to get government-subsidized health care if they meet the other eligibility requirements…
…The National Council of La Raza launched its own “flood their voice mail” campaign last week to put pressure on Mr. Baucus to expand coverage in his proposal to include all legal immigrants and to drop verification language in the legislation that would prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining coverage.
Twenty-nine Democrats signed on to the letter on legal immigrants, while 21 signed the letter on covering illegal immigrants. Although the leadership of the Congressional Black Caucus signed the legal-immigrant letter in their capacity as CBC officials, they signed the other letter as individual members of Congress.
Under the 1996 welfare law overhaul, Congress restricted most federal benefits to longtime holders of green cards – those who have been in the country at least five years.
But Democrats chipped away at that rule when they reauthorized the State Children’s Health Insurance Program earlier this year and allowed states to cover all immigrant children and pregnant women, regardless of how long they’ve been in the country.

The State Children’s Health Insurance Program was but one more nice sounding Trojan Horse–also known as TREASON.
The individual is nothing, the collective is everything-a strong leader has come from Oh High to lead us out of our miserable, selfish private lives; they now wait for much of the Resistant Generation to die off with perhaps some help from Bill Ayres and such.

Watch for the push to grant amnesty to all illegals. Illegals need this healthcare, so the mantra will go, so if they cannot give it to em in the health care bill then make em all citizens and then they will be covered.
My guess is they probably believe the Hispanic segment of their district sympathizes with illegals. But I recall seeing some polls indicating otherwise.
There could be some element of the “illegal vote” in play as well. If illegals could mange to vote, they no doubt would vote for the people looking to give them free stuff. That would be Dems. Maybe the Dems involved think there’s enough in this group to tip the scales.. or at least help.

Many of my little patients watch PBS kid shows during the day. I’ve noticed, over time, more and more Spanish has infiltrated into the shows, so that some of them, like Dora, are 1/2 English, 1/2 Spanish. The rest spend time teaching kids Spanish. Indoctrination, of course. As far as treating illegals in the ER, I feel they should be treated, in the case of life-threatening injury/illness, and then turned over to ICE. Let it be known that it’s a risk, like other risks, when you “invade” our country, and break its laws. Many illegals are criminals themselves, as you have seen.

Pro-illegals politics generally works among the rapidly growing hispanic population. Many of them have friends and relatives involved on the illegal side of the politics.

That is the reason guys like McCain push so hard for things like a broad amnesty. They think the politics favors it. They are fools. My employer offers company retirees the option of remaining in the company health insurance plan, but they have to “pay their own way.” The company does not pay any portion of their premiums. Having them in the plan does have the side-effect of driving up everyone’s premium costs. But we know the gov’t won’t make the illegals pay their own way.
The only gov’t program illegals be allowed to participate in is the one that should dump them out of the US!!!

What Legal -Constitutional Law could enforce American Tax Paying Citizens to pay for the Health Insurance Coverage of NON Legal Citizens from other countrys? At this rate we can adopt 3rd world countries and we The American Tax Payer could pay for with our taxes all their health care insurance inside their countries. Let me get this straight:
1) My son, a Border Patrol Agent, works daily in an effort to secure our borders and protect the American people from drug smugglers and other violent people, too include mere low-life “illegals,” as many fight rather than give up when captured.
2) If said low-life gets away, either by deception or by murdering a Border Patrol Agent, that illegal gets a free pass to American health care.
Sheesh. . .the rats really are insane and are not looking out for the interests of the American people. Their allegiance is to illegals and criminals.
For starters, a correction: “Paying their own way” and “government-sponsored exchange” are mutually exclusive. Either you “pay your own way” or the “government sponsors” you with tax subsidies. And in order to receive tax subsidies, you must have a valid SSN; in order to have a valid SSN, you must be in the country legally. So by design, no one in the country illegally will be able to reap the benefits of a government-sponsored exchange.
This is about whether anyone will be able to purchase government-issued insurance (‘the public option,’ which will be self-sustaining and not funded by taxpayer dollars; government assistance is a separate program altogether) if they want to. This is no different than the way things work right now on the private market: you do not need to prove citizenship in order to purchase coverage. More to the point, by barring illegal aliens from purchasing insurance, you all but guarantee any medical costs they incur while in our country will be paid for by the taxpayers.
You see, in 1986 Reagan signed EMTALA into law, which states that any person on US soil, regardless of citizenship or ability to pay, has a right to emergency medical care and cannot be turned away if they seek it (this is what is crippling border hospitals by the way, so remember to thank Reagan for that in your prayers tonight). Hospitals are reimbursed for those who are not covered through federal grants, and this includes people in the country illegally. So… if illegal aliens purchase the public option, they pay for their own medical costs. No insurance? The status quo holds (bless you, St. Reagan!) and your tax dollars pay for it.

They’re adding an additional screen to filter out undocumented aliens. I doubt all 12 million people in the country illegally have fake SSNs, but surely some do. Regardless, subsidizing their insurance it’s still a lot cheaper than paying for them to utilize emergency services as we do right now.
Let’s hope that doesn’t simply mean producing a SS card/number.
