Sarah Palin: “Going Rogue”

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 28, 2009 05:52 PM

The AP reports that Sarah Palin’s memoir will be published on Nov. 17.

The title is “Going Rogue” — an allusion to the in-fighting between Team Sarah and the McCainiancs that broke out in the last weeks of the campaign.

Should be quite a compelling read.

One question for diehard conservatives: what makes you think Sarah Palin is really one of you? Before she was thrust on the national stage, she said W needed an exit strategy from Iraq. On Team McCain she went on and on about how those greedy rich people were bad for main street. Now that the only future she has in national politics is to play to the base, she is … playing to the base.

My own thoughts are that she was never that interested in conservative thought or policies, but conservatives accepted her as their own for the sole reason that liberals hated her so much.

If you can show me any evidence that what her ghost writer is posting on Facebook now is consistent with her beliefs pre-2008, you could change my mind. Otherwise, I think she’s a fraud. And she’s playing you like a piano.

I bet most on here think that an exit strategy is necessary for any war or military action.

And I bet most on here believe that bad, greedy people (whether or not they are rich) are bad for an economy and society.

Do you believe that good, non-greedy rich people are bad?

What makes you think Obama is one of you die hard liberals? Is it the tendency towards socialism? The free ride mentality? The soft on terrorist approach to diplomacy?

My own thoughts are that she was never that interested in conservative thought or policies, but conservatives accepted her as their own for the sole reason that liberals hated her so much.

My thoughts are that you liberals accepted Obama, a man with virtually no credentials (particularly when compared to Palin), but swallowed his now laughable campaign promises and “hope and change” mantra, and, of course, because he is partly black.

If you can show me any evidence that what her ghost writer is posting on Facebook now is consistent with her beliefs pre-2008, you could change my mind. Otherwise, I think she’s a fraud. And she’s playing you like a piano.

If you can show me any evidence that a) she has a ghost writer, and b) Obambi didn’t, then let’s see it. Otherwise, both you and she are frauds. Can you show that his socialist tendencies are not drawn from his pre-2008 associations with the likes of Wright, Ayers, ACORN and the Chicago political machine?

Obama is playing the Democrats like a cheap violin, but the rest of the country is waking up to this charlatan.

I mean, good grief, look at what the Republican establishment is offering us: RINO Romney, Open Borders Huckabee, more Bush relatives. They may even try to put McCain through again.

*In addition, she should be disuaded from the 3rd party route; That would only be Perot redux, leading to more of what is killing the country, P-BO and his Communist Clown Cluster.
*There are a handful of Republicans left that could wrest control of the GOP and rid the party of the rat bastard RINO’s; They include Palin, DeMint, Pence, Blackburn, and Coburn; The list does not include Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, Guliani and the like, all much like Bush/Rove, who have had a lot to do with putting the party in its’ current predicament; All the beltway corruption must go, regardless of party.

One of the liberals, of course. She really hasn’t taken any prominent stances on her own in favor of the Constitution, and there are a number of others that are questionable, such as:

    * We suspended campaign to work on economic reform.

    * Predatory lenders got us into the housing crisis.

    * McCain’s experience makes him best judge in economic crisis.

These are just three, and they were taken in support of a liberal candidate, so who knows what her real position on these matters is. If she tries to be conservative, there’s a good chance she’ll be hit over the head with these as well.

So there is, in fact, plenty of chance that she is one of THEM, and not one of us. It would be nice to be wrong about that, but until I know for sure, I’m withholding judgment.

I’ll take a long look and see how she stacks up on Constitutional issues, as always. As Americans, we have to start taking the Constitution seriously. Simply vetoing a bill because some advisor told her it was unconstitutional ain’t gonna be enough to cut it

Really? I’d settle for that. The members of Congress don’t even discuss whether or not the bills are constitutional any more, and I would imagine that of anybody dared bring it up on the floor is scorned as a crank.

I mean after all, isn’t is silly to think that the world hasn’t changed in the last 200 years? How can we possibly put our faith in policies that don’t reflect the realities of the world today? – end sarcasm-

HI RED STATE SKEPTIC–I base my support for Sarah Palin on her proven track record in her personal life and as governor of Alaska.
    ***
She isn’t one of the “sell out the taxpayers” rich liberal elite that infest both parties. She and her husband work for a living–with their own business. She went to (Horrors!) a state school like most of us did–probably a Morrell Act land grant college–not Harvaaard or Yale.
    ***
In her personal life as a young woman she played basketball for her high school. On a cracked ankle when they won it all that year. No wimping out when things got tough then.
    ***
She has had one husband her whole life. And she “walks the walk” as far as her anti-abortion views go. Trig got a chance at life and love–not a “left over cell clump” pile at an abortion clinic. No–it wasn’t convenient for her–but it was right with God. She didn’t send her daughter for an abortion either when she got pregnant early.
    ***
An Obama daughter probably would not have given birth to the child–as the Prez said, “She shouldn’t be punished with a baby”. What a fine respect for human life the Messiah and his lovely wife have.
    ***
As governor she sold the state’s private jet and takes commercial flights. She made proper state budget decisions for the benefit of the people. She fired the statehouse cook and did the job herself. She negotiated a better deal for Alaska with the big oil companies–AND GAVE THE MONEY BACK TO THE TAXPAYERS! Has this ever happened in your (or any other) state?
    ***
Sarah had 8 weeks to try to help win a lost election–she learned fast, was savaged by the Left Wing Press and all but the Fox News TV channel and conservative internet and radio sites. She was backstabbed by some in the McCain campaign. She was sandbagged by Katie Kourac and other biased reporters with EDITED OUT OF CONTEXT INTERVIEW tricks. Joe Biden’s outrageously incorrect statements were glossed over and ignored by the State Run Media as they got LEG TINGLES every time the Messiah spoke. And Sarah and McCain were rapidly closing the gap when the economy tanked and killed their chances.
    ***
Sarah Palin is a quick learner. She bailed as governor and is using the internet media quite effectively as she sets up the ducks for her shots. Every one has hit the target and drawn “democRAT” / liberal / socialist / statist / marxist / communist blood so far. She isn’t doing any Alamo type last stands anymore–she retreated into the woods and is picking off the enemy sniper style. She is the only real conservative with a chance to win in 2012. No RINO’s or Beltway Insiders need apply.
    ***
I hope the Republicans are smart enough to close off all the state primaries to non-republican voters. The independent and democratic crossover voters gave our pick to John McCain this way.
    ***
SARAH’CUDA for POTUS, JOHN BOLTON for VP. Draft CONDI RICE for SOS again. A AMERICA FIRST ticket–real hope and change–and the last chance for our country in 2012.

Settle for that if you like.

My point was that some advisor’s opinion isn’t the opinion that’s relevant. I want a president who thinks for herself, and arrives at her own conclusion after analyzing the issue and the Constitution herself. Does she or does she not know what the Constitution says? If she does not, then she is unfit for the office.

I do think it’s indicative of your ideological mindset that you think the worst of Palin, yet Obama gets a pass for the exact same shortcomings.

How about just once, you stop taking everything the alphabet channels tell you at face value. A grain of salt could be a very eye opening experience.

One question for diehard conservatives: what makes you think Sarah Palin is really one of you?

Read some of her history about how she came to hold the office of Governor. One part of it was taking on corrupt REPUBLICANS and cleaning house.

Party-first people would be against this (both Republican and Democrat).

Principle-first people, such as Conservatives applaud this!

Before she was thrust on the national stage, she said W needed an exit strategy from Iraq.

Of course you need an exit strategy! Conservatives agree with this statement. We can’t police the area forever. Many Republicans would have us there forever.

On Team McCain she went on and on about how those greedy rich people were bad for main street.

…as are the greedy poor people, such as those demand entitlements, paid for by others.

The Bible says the “love of money is the root of all evil”. Pure capitalism must be tempered with principles.

There is nothing wrong with people who want to work hard, achieve success, and provide a better lifestyle for their family!

Now that the only future she has in national politics is to play to the base, she is … playing to the base.

Seems to me that her history bears out her Conservative roots. Since she has thrown off the Republican-first handlers from the failed McCain campaign, she has returned to her roots. She isn’t playing anyone.

My own thoughts are that she was never that interested in conservative thought or policies, but conservatives accepted her as their own for the sole reason that liberals hated her so much.

My own thought is that you were too lazy to actually learn about her past to determine her true thought or polices. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy for me to refute “your thoughts”.

The reason liberals hate her is that she stands for principle. She kept her Down’s baby instead of killing it. She supported her daughter’s child, when those on the left want her to kill it. (Imagine, advocating killing your grandchild… like Obama did!)
