Keeping the heat on Rangel
GOP Rep. John Carter is not letting this go.
Keep the heat on the Democrat Culture of Corruption:
New Rangel Financial Violations Demand Removal from Ways and Means Chairmanship
(WASHINGTON, DC) – A month after House Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) admitted failure to report nearly a million dollars in assets on federal disclosure forms, the lack of any action by the House Democratic Caucus on the new ethics violations or the continuing 15-month investigation of multiple ethics and tax violation charges against the man who oversees the Internal Revenue Service demands Rangel be removed.
Republican Conference Secretary John R. Carter (R-TX) says he will give Chairman Rangel until next week to voluntarily resign the chairmanship of Ways and Means, or he will introduce a Privileged Resolution to force his removal. “To allow Mr. Rangel to continue to serve as Chairman is the same as allowing a confessed bank robber to serve as Chairman of the Banking Committee during the trial.”
Carter, a former judge, says the lack of new enforcement action by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) or the Democratic Caucus demands Rangel relinquish the Chairmanship of the House Committee that oversees the IRS and the nation’s tax code. “The reputation and integrity of this body has suffered serious damage by the actions of the Chairman, and the inaction of the Speaker to meet her promise to make this the most honest and ethical House in history,” says Carter. “Mr. Rangel must step down as Chairman until these issues are resolved. If he refuses, the House must remove him by a recorded vote.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has blocked previous votes on Rangel’s chairmanship. Carter offered a privileged resolution to remove Rangel as Chairman in February, but Democrats under Pelosi voted to block consideration of the bill.
The Ethics Committee began investigation of Rangel on July 31, 2008. Pelosi publicly stated that the investigation would be complete before the end of 2008, but with the probe now well into its second year, the investigation has already been expanded twice to include new charges of tax and ethics violations by the Chairman.
“There remains the question of whether these latest disclosure violations may be coupled with similar tax reporting violations,” says Carter. “If so this case could bring further discredit to the House for its failure to act for months, and soon to be years on end.”
The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Buffalo News and numerous other publications have also called for Rangel to step down as Chairman of Ways and Means.

I think Chris Dodd only got special deals from Countrywide and failed to report the true worth of his Irish “cottage”. Bank robber is a bit extreme…
Rangel belongs in jail.
Most ethical congress N…EVVAAAHHH!
I’ve always wondered why people who get elected to Congress may start out as “regular” joes with “regular” jobs. But, after a term or two, all of the sudden they’ve become millionaires. I am pretty confident that the job doesn’t pay that much. I am convinced that the Rangels of the Congressional world are bought and paid for with lobbyist bribes. Americans need to get really angry about Rangel and all of the rest of them. They have corrupted themselves and are ruining this great country and I.AM.SICK.OF.THEM.
Get rid of Rangel. He desperately needs to be in jail, but he should be offered a plea-bargain if he’ll give up the goods on Pelosi.
Oh, yeah, I must be Raaascist!
Bela Pelosi’s eyelids were unavailable for comment!
Its the only prudent thing to do for the Most Ethical(ly challenged) Congress ever!
With Rangel we hear only about the tax evasion that pops up occasionally, but is there any other dealings under the table he is involved with?
Demand a thorough and impartial investigation.
Rangel to Carter: “Mind your own g*dd*mn business!”
Because I love the smell of pork rinds in the morning.
Smells like…victory.
Everythings better with bacon!
Who are we to decide what’s right or wrong? He’s a congressman. I’m sure if he’s wrong, he’ll just punish himself.

Countdown to when GOP Rep. John Carter is labeled a Racist..
3,2,1…………..
He will get acorn to hook him up with a 13 year old hooker to “punish” him. They owe him.
Do you need anymore evidence that the houses of government are out of touch?
By reputation, I assume he means “good” reputation. Having said that, those government houses have long been considered “houses of ill-repute” in my books, and for good reason. They are run by, and enabled by various wh*res of humanity, and madames of malfeasance…nonpartisan all.
And integrity? Please! It remains to be seen if there are any politicians still around that will stand for truth, justice, and the American way.
It doesn’t require a Superman to do what’s right, ethical, and selfless. It only requires a good, God-fearing Judeo-Christian who lives by his or her oath of office.
Especially a runny Camembert.
oOoOooOOOooothe cat’s eaten it…
Love it. He should have been removed as soon as his tax cheatin’ ways were exposed.
MOUSEBENDER:
No matter. Fetch hither le fromage de la Belle France! M-mmm!
As a Democrat, the only way you will be prosecuted is if:
1. You get caught red-handed and
2. You have a history of multiple crimes and
3. You become too much trouble to protect and
4. Democrats have no majority in Congress
Even then the odds are good you will get a pass. Remember they view themselves as morally superior to the average American and they have a pagan-divine right to rule. The law is for the masses.
He’s too important to fail.

mrcakes bent a mouse last night
I wonder if he’ll be back in NYC tonight to help the Empire State Bldg. celebrate China’s communist revolution…. Wouldn’t surprise me. Maybe he’s got some “action” going with the Chinese too.
Rangel is a crook, a liar, and a hypocrite…wait, that is most of the Democrats in Congress right now.
Go Rep. Carter! Those Texans have a spine (and other body parts I am too polite to mention, but you know what I mean).Sic ‘em, boys.
rangel should be in jail, that liberal vermin has no business holding the position he has, that’s disgraceful, although with pelosi in charge corruption and unethical misdeeds are rewarded. rangel is a thief and when he sets high standards it means septic tank level.
On the bright side, Rangel should be first in line for the nomination of Corruption Czar (with William Jefferson as his deputy).
Nancy will declare Rep Carter out of order and that will be that. You forgot THEY won, and that’s the way it is and that the way it is going to be.
No–Savage24 – we must use the power of the vote to force them out and yes it can be done.
Did it go good with the Camembert?
Exactly. If the house leadership refuses to do the right thing then the RNC needs to take it directly to the American people through advertising, interviews, any way possible. The more the American people are made aware the more the sleeping giant awakens.
Rogue; heh.
Wait. We’re still talking about cheese, right?
Corruption. Lies. Typical.
Very easy to vent to Madam Speaker.
I was. You might have been a little distracted though.
If we are honest with ourselves we will have to admit that our entire political system at the federal level is corrupt to the bone.
* Dems gerrymander districts to ensure their reelection.
* Republicans gerrymander districts to ensure their reelection.
* Dems get elected and get in bed with lobbyists.
* Republicans get elected and get in bed with lobbyists.
* Dems reward key constituents with “pork”. Republicans do the same.
* Lobbyists find ways to “reward” Dems and Republicans.
* Dems get rich from “favors” , “contributions”, having relatives put on payrolls etc.
* Republicans get rich from “favors” , “contributions”, having relatives put on payrolls etc.
* Dems and Republicans find ways to become lobbyists when they leave office, further feathering their own nests.
Solutions:
Term limits!!
Transparency on campaign contributions and for ALL lobbying contributions, and what issues were lobbied.
Automatic release annually of congressional finanances, tax returns etc.
When all else fails, public defenestrations, “to encourage the others”.
I see. All good time charlie has to do is continue to commit ethics violations. Each time new charges are discovered, the investigation will have to be expanded. If he paces it right, he’ll die of old age before the investigation completes.
One possible flaw in this scheme is the reluctance of the news media to even investigate, let alone report on ethics violation by Democrats. Maybe that’s why Rangel came out and voluntarily announced his last ethics revelations. The press couldn’t or wouldn’t dig them up, and it made him look noble to confess his “inadvertent errors” himself. What incentive is there for him to stop being corrupt now?
Fooldroolcup – I am with you on your solutions – damn them for making us have to dog them on their ethics–what happened to the oath they took?
Sorry for my long absence but I was incredibly busy as a camp manager in Iraq. I took an easier gig in Afghanistan and will contribute more often.
Oh, and don’t let up on ole Charlie. His deeds need to see the light of day.
Major Ken – so happy to see your post. Thanks from many for your faithful service to us and your country. Didn’t know there were easier gigs in the Afghan…we are praying daily for our patriot service men/women.
