Yes, Senate Dems do want illegal alien Obamacare coverage

Call. Them. Out:

Senate Finance Committee Democrats rejected a proposed a requirement that immigrants prove their identity with photo identification when signing up for federal healthcare programs.

Finance Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said that current law and the healthcare bill under consideration are too lax and leave the door open to illegal immigrants defrauding the government using false or stolen identities to obtain benefits.

Grassley’s amendment was beaten back 10-13 on a party-line vote.

The bill, authored by committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), would require applicants to verify their names, places of birth and Social Security numbers. In addition, legal immigrants would have to wait five years, as under current law, after obtaining citizenship or legal residency to access federal healthcare benefits such as Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program or receive tax credits or purchase insurance through the exchange created by the legislation.

But the [bill] would not require them to show a photo ID, such as a drivers license. Without that requirement, the bill “remains dearly lacking when it comes to identification,” Grassley said. “Frankly, I’m very perplexed as to why anyone would oppose this amendment,” he said.

Was there ever any doubt? The opposite of what they say, is ALWAYS the truth. Other truths?

No one making less than $250,000 will see their taxes raised.

There is no government run option.

    This is not socialism.

We want to fight the “real” war, and that is in Afganistan.

This will be a transparent administration.

We want to help the poorest of Americans.
    Etc.

By their own words will you know the truth…but, it will not be by what they say, but by what they do NOT say.

Rush had a segment today about how he thinks they will sneak this through inside of a bill next week. It was a little complicated for me to understand but it was something along the lines of the obamacare bill will be inserted into a tarp bill taxing bonuses. i was so horrified i had to turn the radio off. he said, and i agree, that our representative democracy is toast since these politicians keep hammering away at things the people repeatedly say that they don’t want.

Left-wing authors don’t sell nearly as many books thanks in no small part to the fact that their target market is one that wants everything for free. I do love it when libs are victimized by their own creation.

Dumbest comment of the day. Conservatives have much more influence and traction now that McCain can no longer doing the blocking for the Democrats. Do you really believe that electing the very architect of most of our current problems would have been better? Remember the obnoxious bills that carried his name?

You nose-holders are about to follow your beloved “party that stands for nothing” into extinction. Conservatives? We’ll be fine. Thanks for asking.

Actually it’s not such a dumb comment. Republican and Democrat are not the only two options. Any conservative who would actually vote Democrat to protest against the Republicans, let me be diplomatic, needs to have his head examined. Voting third party, doing a write-in, even staying home, would be so much more preferable to actually giving the Democrats any kind of mandate to screw us further.

I’m glad McCain’s out of the picture, and I’m glad for the protests, but they’d be even more effective had there been a more visible (i.e., third party) protest vote from the last election.

Just as I said. It doesn’t matter how much it happens, nobody learns. At least none of the third party crackpot element learn.

To be clear: I voted for Perot in 1992. To be even more clear: I support Palin. Strongly.

The question is a matter of degree of risks. Obama may be the end of this Republic. He will certainly cause damage that will never be fixed. Massively expanded bureaucracies never retreat.

If McCain had won, we would now have Vice President Palin. She would be the unquestionable heir apparent. With her popularity with conservatives, she would matter.

The third party spoiler crowd never learns.

I voted for Bob “the Builder” Barr and I have made your argument many times. There was NO excuse for voting for Obama but had anyone put a gun to my head and forced me to choose Obama or McCain, I would have voted Obama. We conservatives are in better position today to fight socialism with Obama as president than we would have been had McCain won.

If this is what Roland meant, he should have said so. Every time I have seen this comment, it was posted by a nose-holding “Republican Uber Alles” myrmidon. Seeing his follow-up post about “third party spoilers”, I stand by my first comment.

I voted for Perot in 1992 too and consider it a good thing that Clinton won but 43% of the vote is far from a mandate. That is why Republicans won back Congress and the budget got balanced. Had the numbskulls who stayed home last November voted third party, Obama would have won with well below 50% of the vote. Had Republicans who voted for Obama voted 3rd party, the number might have been in the low 40s.

If that is being a “spoiler”, then being a spoiler is a very good thing. There are only two positions to take today: Democrat/Assistant Democrat (GOP) or conservative. The nose-holders are Democrat enablers.
