Brazilians goof on Obama: “Yes We Créu”

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 2, 2009 03:19 PM

Heh-heh. Brazilians are having fun popping Barack Obama’s bubble. Here’s your second Twitpic of the day:

“Yes We Créu” is now the hottest trending topic on Twitter.

Best of all? The Obama-bots can’t cry “RAAAAAAACIST!”

***

Here at home, the nutroots are hysterically attacking Olympics bid critics as, you guessed it, “un-American.”

To which I say: What do you have against people of color in a developing nation on a continent that has never hosted the Olympics?

***

Times of London: “Obama’s Olympic failure will only add to doubts about his presidency.”

***

From What The Trend:

Brazilian twitter-ers’ creation, It’s a pun on Barack Obama slogan “Yes, we can” (http://bit.ly/H16PF) and brazilian funk (musical style) performer MC Créu music (http://bit.ly/ZQypq). It’s like “Yes we nail it”, but in a funny way. Refers to Rio de Janeiro being chosen as the host of the 2016 Olympics.
The man on the photo is Mussum, a deceased Brazilian humorist (http://bit.ly/H16PF).

Just posted this on the other thread. Thought it was appropriate here as well:

Well, the MSM excuse making is already in full swing.

I just read a story on MSN and they were talking about how Chicago’s bid had “come on strong late in the game” – basically saying that li’l bHo’s appearance before the IOC was an heroic stand against overwhelming odds, but unfortunately the Chicago Olympic bid committee had just fudged things up so badly before they implored li’l bHo to speak on their behalf that li’l bHo, valiant as he was, simply couldn’t overcome the committee’s ineptitude.

    What a load.

Chicago was the overwhelming favorite to get these games basically from the time they announced their bid up until li’l bHo said he would go and shill for Chicago. It was only after li’l bHo announced that he would go to Copenhagen and speak that things started to look iffy, and the closer it got to li’l bHo opening his pie-hole the iffier it got.

The bookies in London are much richer today. Until the last week, all the money was on Chicago to win this bid in a walk.

This failure lies solidly with li’l bHo and his baby mama.

    Period.

It is so easy to do. Then again, it’s become an art form here so why not in Brazil?

The sad thing about Rio getting the Olympics is that it was based on mostly momentum, cronyism, and history. South America, apparently, has never hosted the games. I heard that Africa has hosted and if somebody up on their Olympic history could point out which African city hosted, I’d be curious to know.

The Brazilians are good at one thing (okay two things): partying and the Samba. Many of their people live in slums (favelas sp.?) yet make it stylish in comparison to an even poorer country- Mexico. They’ll party and celebrate for a few days until reality hits them like a ton of bricks and they have to figure out how to prepare for a super sports event like the Olympics (and figure out how to pay for it). I wouldn’t be surprised if American taxpayers don’t foot part of the Olympic tab since we seem to be funding many of the worlds’ dreams and ambitions.

I don’t want to be Brazil when they wake up from their celebratory stupor.

Interesting how you have nothing to rebut their criticism. The British media, who are far removed from insular American politics, have seen the handwriting on the wall. Obummer will not bring the US back to its economic and political dominance when he’s too busy spending our money on things that don’t bring back jobs or help our economy.

In some ways, the British media is self-parodying and recognizing what Obummer is doing wrong because Labour has also misspent its political capitol (as have their Conservatives) with propping up nanny welfare state programs like their NHS and their public entitlements.

OK. It’s inane to say that the fact that Obama isn’t so all-powerful to the world that he can’t alone secure an Olympic bid, which depends on so many factors, particularly the fact that Chicago is a mess for where the Olympics were proposed to be held, from the lack of decent public transportation to the shabby state of cab service in city.

The British media, who are far removed from insular American politics, have seen the handwriting on the wall.

My brother lived in London for a year recently, and the Brits are extremely tuned into American politics. (They loved Huckabee in the primaries!) Traditional Britons have a big inferiority complex towards the US (not to mention racism that would shock most Americans), so it follows that the Murdoch-owned conservative British press is so eager to pooh-pooh The One.

Nice try, RSS. Your observation is a red herring. No one said that it was unbiased. In fact, any kind of reporting is rooted in bias. Conservatives admit their bias. Libs don’t. The point that MM makes refutes the Libtard claim that an Obama election would restore the world’s good opinion of the USA. Obama’s Olympic screw up causes him to lose face in the eyes of the world – not gain respect.

Actually, Rio is in much better shape to host than one would think. They hosted the Pan Am Games in 2007 and have many venues already in place.

Yes, I understand that. They’re also a big soccer country and can compete in many sports. So, it goes without saying, that there should be some kind of underlying sports infrastructure already in place. I’m not denying that.

As someone who has studied South America in college (and it hasn’t really changed much except for Brazil’s and even Venezuela’s influence in the hemisphere), it’s a mess. Brazil especially. I’m glad they won the Olympics bid.

Any Olympics host should have the infrastructure to put on the games. It’s just that Rio is not entirely the safest venue in the world (just like Chicago). It’s a city with a major slum, gang, crime, drug, and corruption problem. I don’t think they’re gonna get rid of those problems in 9 years.

While I’ve heard that it’s a beautiful city and I’ve never visited it personally, I wouldn’t want to go there on vacation. It’s a city, like many, that have two sides: one for the tourists and visitors, and the ugly one they reserve for their residents.

Really? This was a world media that lauded Obummer as a “new kind of politician” who could do no wrong. They put him on a pedestal of their own creation. Yet, now he’s been brought down to earth by the reality that he is only one person. BTW, the British media represent camps of different thought and there are those who still laud Obummer for whatever he does (or doesn’t do). Yet, there are others within the British media who see Obummer for what he is- another typical politician.

If the criticism is so “inane,” then why the big public push by Obummer to sell Chicago as an Olympics venue? Doesn’t he have bigger problems to tackle? Afghanistan? Health care? What gives?

My brother lived in London for a year recently, and the Brits are extremely tuned into American politics. (They loved Huckabee in the primaries!) Traditional Britons have a big inferiority complex towards the US (not to mention racism that would shock most Americans), so it follows that the Murdoch-owned conservative British press is so eager to pooh-pooh The One.

Since you’re not big on anecdotal evidence, I’ll take yours with a grain of salt. Both sides of the Atlantic view each other through different lenses. The Brits are about as tuned into our politics as Americans are tuned into that country’s politics. The Brits live under a different political structure than the Americans do. How they choose a new leader is quite different from how we do.

Inferiority complex? Since when? And racism? The Brits have let in a tide of illegal immigrants for YEARS and now it’s biting them in a big way. You can only shuttle so many illegals into ghettos until these folks rise up and riot (as we’ve seen in France).

Your brother needs to take another look at the British outlook. The Brits have always looked down their aristocratic noses at us Yanks while lecturing us on how to conduct a proper empire while theirs fell away decades ago. Civilized Brits pride themselves on their generations of empire, tradition, and stiff upper lip.

Your brother needs to take a new look. He’s only giving you part of the picture.

Obama will explain this international disaster the same way he explains the recession – by blaming Bush. You see, the international relationships he inherited from Bush were in even worse shape than he thought. Because of that it’s going to take much longer than anyone predicted to dig America out of that hole and repair those relationships to where America has clout again.

At least Obama and his Chicago friends have gotten a taste of their own medicine: the Olympic Games have been “redistributed” to the less fortunate who have never had them before.

I am wondering when the tipping point will occur. At some point, it will become apparent to most people that Obama is in over his head. He was sold to us by the MSM as a brilliant, pragmatic, honest moderate. He is, at best, slightly above average in intelligence, corrupt, and a hard-core uncompromising radical. More and more people are beginning to see that, as his numbers continue to slide.

This idiotic, non-important failure, may just be the one that will not go away, that people remember. Once the media discover that they need to start dumping on Obama in order to retain any consumers, they may start to be more critical (at least not carry the water for him). Once they stop covering for him, his approval ratings will approach the 40s, heading for the 30s.

No experienced politician would have staked so much prestige on something that wasn’t a sure bet. No experienced staff would have let their president gamble so much on so little. He is a fool, or his staff are fools, or they are becoming desperate.

The British media, who are far removed from insular American politics, have seen the handwriting on the wall.

Whooooo.. RSS, you have this all wrong!

I live 120 miles from London. I can assure you that anyone on this side of the pond who liked Huckabee in 2008 was clearly in the minority. The Brits (like all Euros) looooooooooove Hillary. When she was defeated, they were all stunned. I can remember people I didn’t know finding out that she had lost and seriously asking me how the US could even think about electing a Black man. But, within a week, Blue Lips was #1 in their book. Of course, they couldn’t remember why they didn’t like him a few weeks before!

Also, don’t start this Rupert Murdoch “Conservative” crap. Murdoch’s outfit in the UK is “SkyTV” (similar to directv in the USA). Brits only get it because of the sports coverage and the fact that it is something, anything other than BBC (worst programming known to man). Oh yeah, they play “The Simpsons”.

News programs in Britain aren’t quite as liberal as they are on the Continent. However, they are on par with American outfits like CNN or MSNBC. Of course the Brits and Euros consider CNN and MSNBC to be “center right”.

CNN International is based in London. It makes American CNN look like a broadcast service for the Republican Party. I am stunned by the anti-American propaganda CNNI spews constantly. Horrible.

BBC news actually spends the majority of it’s time reading the newspaper headlines on air. To BBC, a very important story is when Amnesty International is upset about something (usually something Booosh did).

Of course, if you mention that BBC might be a little biased to a Brit, they get really, really upset. I think it’s kind of fun to watch them – ’cause they know it’s true.

I will stop ranting on the Brits with one last thing – Never, ever think that the British Government is our friend. Most Brits like the US. The British Government and the “Toffs” that run it see Americans as a bunch of uneducated brutes who should only be let out of a cage when Britain in threatened.

    /rant off..

As far as Brazil – bring it on boys.. To the winner go the spoils. Good sportsmen admit their loss and take the ribbing they deserve. I would like to think the rest of the world will see Blue Lips for what he really is but the love fest will, I am certain, continue.
