Tall tale of the day: The First Lady’s weird Olympic memory

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 2, 2009 11:03 PM

From Michelle Obama’s failed pitch to the International Olympic Committee:

“Some of my best memories are sitting on my dad’s lap, cheering on Olga and Nadia, Carl Lewis, and others for their brilliance and perfection.”

Um. Ew. Oof.

Mrs. Obama was 20 years old when Lewis first competed in the Olympics in 1984.

Senior White House adviser and Chicago slumlord overseer Valerie Jarrett promised earlier this week that “there wouldn’t be a dry eye in the room” after FLOTUS spoke.

She probably wasn’t expecting tears of…laughter.

Mrs. O is looking more and more like Mrs. Clinton every day.

It reminds me of Al Gore saying that his mother used to sing “Look for the union label” to him as a bedtime lullaby. But that song dates to 1975, and Gore was born in 1948. So if you take him at his word (and why shouldn’t you), then Al Gore’s mommy was singing him to sleep when he was in his late 20′s. Now MO’s remarks suggest that, at age 20, she was planting that dirigible on her daddy’s lap. Must be a Deomcrat thing. I wouldn’t understand.

If Michelle O’ was sitting on her dad’s lap at 20 years old, that is a little creepy and maybe the start of the plot for the black version of Deliverance.

This reminds me of something important.

Folks, it does no good to hound the GOP for its foibles. Splintering off and declaring independant, Libertarian, or anything else will just move you out of the ability to vote in a 2012 primary.

Likewise, voting for any 3rd party will only set up another “Perot” phenomenon.

Neither of these two scenarios will make any progress back to conservative candidates. We must bring the GOP back to conservative ideals.

We don’t need the MSM to choose our candidates. Tried it once, didn’t work.

Besides, 2010 is the battlefield. We do well there and 2012 will take care of itself.

The only possible part of her story that could be true is sitting on her daddy’s lap when Olga Korbut won her gold medals in 1972. She would have been close to 9 years old then. If she did sit on her dad’s lap at age eight and nine months, then she was developmentally challenged because by that age, most kids do not sit on their dad’s lap. But even that is not likely as the Munich games of 1972 were mostly televised at night (there was little by way of cable TV at that time and no internet) and surely her dad put Michelle to bed to get her ready to school. She was hardly up at 10:00pm Chicago time on a school night watching olympic gymnastics. By the time of Nadia Comenceci’s gold medals in 1976 at Montreal, Michelle Obama would have been almost 13 years old and 13 year olds do not sit on daddy’s lap. Not then and not now. And of course, at age 20 and away at Princeton, Michelle Obama did not sit on daddy’s lap and watch Carl Lewis. Next she will tell us she sat on daddy’s lap and watched Ben Johnson win the 100 at Seoul.
As for Mr. Gore, let’s not forget that he said he discovered Love Canal (already declared a federal disaster site by President Carter before Gore was in Congress).

Wrong. The GOP is in just as bad of shape with the American people as the Democrats.

By 2012, the Republicans or the Democrats will most likely be the liberal party, and whichever is left will become the third party.

No one wants to vote for either of these corrupt parties. That’s why they’re both toast. Imagine if this platform got traction. The Donks and Repubs would all be toast.

The GOP is half of the problem. The Democrats are the other. If one of those parties presents a good Constitutionalist candidate, then by all means vote for that candidate, but the time has long passed that people should be voting for ANY of these clowns in the LOTE mode.

I, for one, will never again vote for a liberal or vote LOTE. Those days are over.

The sooner the rest of America follows suit, the better off we’ll all be, including you.

Heads should roll, not only the speech writers and the people who told Obama to go to Denmark, but also Michelle’s fashion consultant.I usually don’t comment on her clothes because there is so much else to criticize her for!! But this was a really really unflattering dress!!I think a lot of her clothes look pretty good on her. But that yellow dress was all wrong for her shape! It puffed out in front, making her look pregnant, then it was fitted around her butt, making it look gigantic! This was a very bad choice for her!

I remember watching it on our flat screen, High Definition Television. We were emailing one another about the games while also talking live on our cell phones.

I also remember sitting on my mom or my dad’s knee while watching Hussein Bolt win the 100 meter dash in the 2008 Olympics, and even when Mickey Mantle hit a home run to win the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal in men’s Baseball.

    Oh,

    What wonderful memories.

    Oh, wait!

You mean there were no flat screen color televisions back in 1968?

You mean that Jim Ryun, once the world record holder in both the Mile and 1500 meter runs never won a gold medal, and never set a record in the Olympics?

You mean that there was no Internet or email as we currently use it, back in the 1960s or the 1970s, and we did not have cell phones as is today, back then i the 1960s and 1970s?

    Wait!

You mean that in 2008 my mother and father had already been dead, one for more than a decade, my father since 1996, and my mother since 2005?, and that I was actually 6’2″ tall, weighing 220 lbs and would no be sitting on their laps?

So I could not possibly be watching Hussein Bolt win the gold medal in the 100 meters run in 2008 while sitting on my parents’ laps?

Are you telling me that Mickey Mantle had already died several years before the 2008 Olympics and could not have played, and did not play on the USA men’s Olympic Team baseball team in 2008?

How dare you challenge my recollection!

It is funny how people are blaming Obama’s “advisers” for his actions.

Do we use advisors before we take action?

The President is supposed to make his own decisions and take responsibility for them, not rely on “advisors” 24/7 100% of the time.

    That is nuts!

Either Obama is a follower, a little sheep, a weakling (which he appears to be) parading as mister wonderful (which I do not think he is) or he is a leader.

    Which one is he?

I don’t want to read or hear anyone else make excuses for this over rated, underwhelming, out-of-his-league, in-over-his-head, unqualified person masquerading as the President of the United States of America.

He is an overrated “Community Organizer” which means he has no skills and was not qualified to be President of the United States.

As a former Mayor, and as a Governor, Sarah Palin had much more executive experience than Obama, and she was much more qualified than Obama to become President of the United States of America, but SHE was the one who was mocked for not having enough experience while Obama got a pass on his total lack of experience.

Now it has come back to bite us in the you-know-what.

Seriously, I think many of those who are of voting age are nuts!

If you can forgive the link to HufPo..his speech is after hers…..you won’t believe! No wonder Chicago didn’t get it… It’s all about THEM.

    It IS embarrassing…here’s a quote:
“Nearly one year ago, on a clear November night, people from every corner of the world gathered in the city of Chicago or in front of their televisions to watch the results of the U.S. Presidential election. Their interest wasn’t about me as an individual. Rather, it was rooted in the belief that America’s experiment in democracy still speaks to a set of universal aspirations and ideals. Their interest sprung from the hope that in this ever-shrinking world, our diversity could be a source of strength, a cause for celebration; and that with sustained work and determination, we could learn to live and prosper together during the fleeting moment we share on this Earth.”

You might be on to something here, AlabamaMama.

I did not follow any religion whatsoever before hearing about our Lord and Savior, our Messiah, The One, Dear Leader, Mister Wonderful, Barrack Hussein Obama, and the Oracle, Mrs. Michelle Barrack Hussein Obama.

    Now I believe.

I pray to our Lord and Savior throughout the day.

I have an altar in our home that I pray before every day, light a candle, offer fruit, goats, cows, children, virgins, etc., to Almighty Lord God Barrack Hussein Obama and his Divine Wife, Michelle.

I even take chains, whips, etc., strip naked, and whip myself, just like many in Asian and Arabia do, in order to make myself pure for My Lord and Savior, because I am a racist, mean spirited, evil, violent, hate filled American.

I often cut myself with a razor or a sharp knife, drain blood into a vial, and sent it to my Savior as a token of my Love and Devotion.

I’ve even volunteered through ACORN, SEIU, and other wonderful organizations.

I have seen the Light. My sins are forgiven. I am saved.

Now I have Religion. Now I believe in the Compassionate One. The Merciful One. The Almighty One.

I have laid my burdens at His Feet and my sins are forgive and I am saved!

Praise the Lord, Barrack Hussein Obama, the Divine Master of All, and his Divine Wife, Michelle!

I totally agree. It makes no sense to fracture our votes by forming a third party. It is VITAL that we win the next couple elections. And by WE, I am talking about those of us who know where Obama and his cronies are trying to take us and how urgently we need to STOP them! If we elect a few “RINO’s” along the way who agree with the main points of our platform, then yes, we can sort them out later. The main objective HAS to be to take the Presidency and Congress away from the marxists, and to do it quickly before they destroy us. Dividing our voting power will not accomplish that. Most voters in this country are not informed. If they voted Republican all their lives, will they vote for a third party because it is more conservative? I doubt it. We would be shooting ourselves in the foot! If anyone can convince me that a third party is a good idea, I am listening.

So long as you nose-holders need the Republican training wheels, you will never see why conservatives are in the ascendancy while the McCain/Bush-led GOP leadership continues its mortal plunge into irrelevancy. You are either loyal to conservatism or you are a spineless Republican.

We already have a third party. Who do you think the Dems and Reps are warring against? US!!! And we are winning! Combined, both “major” parties account for only about 52-53% of registered voters and both are shrinking. The Dems will soon be populated by the 19% that defines themselves as “liberal” while the GOP will represent the 15% who will salute anything that has GOP on its label. Both will become irrelevant.

Politics doesn’t like a vacuum. Guess what will fill it? A third- second party! This isn’t complicated but if the only way some of you will ever see it is when you can look back over the finish line after the fact, you are going to be a drag on our efforts to restore this country to its core values.

Have a little courage. How difficult is this anyway?
